-BETA REVIEW-

Fun game, really like the story and i was really determined to get good scores THANKS FORXA BTW for making it super hard to get 1K points lmao

Its definitely one of those games that are quick to learn but difficult to master, despite its rng but its the rng makes it fun to fight again and again until you got nice scores

For a game made by one person, I can see potential in this and hope to see it updating and bring out more fights in the future

It’s a fun little game. Getting a win feels satifsying, fights can get intense, has an interesting story and kick-ass music. It’s a bit clunky sometimes but all-in-all, it’s enjoyable and I recommend.

Really cool game. Similar to Binding of Isaac. Can be quite hard when surrounded by a lot of ennemies, you gotta be a bit strategic when you place yourself and try to survive.

Small game but quite fun.

What a horrible game. All you do is run around in a given space and shoot rows of enemies. There are no changes in this game.

The enemies get harder and their number raises from stage to stage, but that’s it. And you and your coop-partner will switch between the ability to shoot butterflies (blue) or mushrooms (red). You can only shoot one of them at a time (either the butterflies or the mushrooms, but not both).

Really boring concept.

Tennis Elbow 4

Tennis Elbow 4

Very well done tennis game and an improvement over the previous installments (TEM2 and TE2013). Although still in early access, and likely to remain there for a while since this is a one-man operation, it still gives other tennis games with a much larger budget a run for their money. Obvious issues include lack of animations, low quality ball, crowd, and grunt sounds, few character cosmetic customization options, and overall presentation being somewhat weak when compared to the triple-A variants. But what this game has over all of those expensive competitors is a very active dev who responds to community concerns and basically works around the clock to fix issues in the game. The difficulty settings range from way too easy to realistic to the AI is a god mode, with varying strategies and player archetypes which is a major contrast to some of the other tennis games available where the AI only ever strikes from the baseline and never approaches for any reason. This gives TE4 replay value far beyond its competitors. You can play in career mode against the serve and volley era of the 80s all the way through to the baseline sluggers of today. You can start from the humble ranks as a 1000 and work your way up to the top, or craft your tennis prodigy all the way from youth as a 13 year old junior. This game honestly has it all despite its graphics. 10/10

Set to become THE Tennis Game

Even in the Early Access stage this game is impressive. It captures the intensity of tennis in the most positive way.

From the first versions it has seen quite a lot of improvements. Especially, the backhand shots which felt strange as soon as the game came out. Most shots landing short and with little top spin.

Animations look good for the most part. For the time being (v. 0.43 SubBuild 2021.7.10) the only exception would be the volleys, which look and feel kind of odd. I’m pretty sure all the animations will be amazing once the game releases and the modding community embraces the game. Something which has made its predecessor, TE2013, so awesome.

Maiden and Spell

Good lord, fastest recommend I can throw.

For a bit of context, I was something of a Touhou nerd back in the day, so I’ve had my fair share of bullet hell playthroughs.

I also find fighting games pretty neat, but could never really find one I liked enough to practice.

This is sort of a midway point, I think.

A bunch of smol cute gorls firing bullets at each other over a series of rounds defined by stocks. Get hit, lose a stock. Simple.

Lose all your stocks, you lose a spell charge (or in simple terms: you lose that round.)

Honestly an incredibly fun and accessible PVP shmup. The art style, pattern diversity, music, and backgrounds are all superb. There’s a great deal of complexity in multiplayer, but it’s so simple at its core that it won’t scare off people who are new to the game, or even to the genre.

Every character has its own completely unique play style and set of attacks. In the famous words of the New Super Mario Bros U IGN review, “It has a little something for everyone.” Some characters may seem OP or weak at first, but once you play them yourself to understand how they work and understand their strengths, things start to make more sense. If there is something the community legitimately does see as OP however, please understand this game literally just came out. There will probably be balance patches at some point. There are plenty of people to play with at the moment, but if you don’t see any lobbies up you can always join the Maiden and Spell and the Shmups Discord. You’ll be able to find someone on either of those discords to play with, including me. I’ll have a link to those below in the end of this review.
