Medieval Towns

(April 15 2021) 9 Months since the Last Update… This EA is still a turd!

IMPROVEMENTS THAT MUST BE MADE

(NOTE I WAS FORUM BANNED FOR MAKING THIS POST)

With 42 hours of play time logged combined with frequent server checks, I can confidently state there is no one playing this EA.

Now combine my in game and server observations with the fact that other than 1 decaying cabin in Westburg and that the only other buildings in this EA are mine which I am allowing to decay because NO ONE IS PLAYING, the Dev has failed to make, even in Early Access, anything that resembles a game! And as result of the ridiculous grind that only gets worse with the introduction of additional content with each new update, Medieval Towns, at this stage, is sadly, nothing more than a “Grind Simulator”… resulting in a lack of interest and 0 server population.

Ok, I just went through the reviews and message boards and it was kind of hard to read. As a dev myself, I know the hard work that goes into making games and this game impressed me from the start. I’m a geek for anything medieval so naturally I bought this game last month. There is really no learning curve so you can jump right in and start playing. I built a cabin, spent some time in prison for punching my cabin, harvested resources, etc. Eventually I moved out to the woodland areas of the north to build my own town (‘cause I wanted to be “King in the North”), and this is where the bulk of my time was spent. I had walls, guard towers, thousands in wood, stone, and iron. I even met another player which was rare. It was a big grind to harvest resources but it was fun.

I normally dont write reviews so when I do it’s a big deal. I’ve been with this game a while. I’ve even financially supported it big time. I’ve taken the time to know some of the devs and mods. I’ve gotten to see what kind of people they are. They are ambitious which is a good thing.

But you could cut the tension with a knife when it came time for this early testing phase release. The game wasn’t supposed to be released this soon but some, a lot, too many people were so impatient that they threatened to goto steam and cry scam if nothing was released as “proof.” That’s what all of these “I waited 2 years” posters aren’t telling you.

I backed this game way back in 2014 and tried some of the stress tests and pre alpha builds back then. They were not too hot, decent amount of bugs, subpar graphics, etc. It was not a playable game. Some years ago, when this game first came to steam, it was accidentally released early by valve which was a major source of its many, many bugs. Now with update 1.9 I decided to revisit the game, and to my surprise it’s almost been polished SO MUCH. The graphics are pretty good, especially with the realistic seasons and the weather system, it’s PHENOMENAL.

I don’t write reviews for every game I own, like or dislike. However, in this case, I feel it is only fair to let people know a thing or two.

What ROK is right now, is the end result. In that point, the dev’s have been honest when they said they won’t be adding or changing anything from now on.

This game has been abandoned. The dev’s will try to tell you otherwise, which just makes them look delusional.

This game had potential, but was let down big time. I can safely say the game was running better in Alpha 6 than after “Release”.

PROS:

1. When everything is working as it should, the combat is extremely satisfying, especially for us gore lovers. Want to lop off your opponents head? How’s about their arms and legs? Even after all that is said and done, anything that they were carrying is now yours for the taking! ( The friends that I do play with have told me this game’s combat is similar to that of Chivalry’s, so if you like that I’m sure you’ll enjoy this )

2. I’m not one for long drawn out executions, but if you are, this game has just about every tool you’ll need to make your enemies wish they’d never messed with you! Once you’ve captured your opponent, you’ll have a list of humiliation/torture/execution devices to chose from. From the gallows to the guillotine, you name it, they’ve got it.

I appreciate all the hard work the Devs have been putting into the game. I cannot wait for the new item system and storage. As of right now this game is def worth a buy but please be aware that right now the game is mostly just exploring and PVP.

The first 50 hours or so, will be exploring the wonderful, pretty, immersive world that the Devs have created. After that, all you will be doing is walking the map ( or camping a certain spot of the map which is weak, but w/e) for people to shoot. Trust me, I have over 1k hours in the game, and I have been PVPing like crazy. One thing that blows me away in this game is the water Physics. When you shoot the water, you can see it tread, and you can see the bullet wiz through the water. Amazing Yoo.

CryoFall

CryoFall

I HAVE mixed opinions with the game, on the one hand it seems to me an excellent game with very good mechanics in most cases (not all, some are grossly absurd) I like the customization of the character that is not extensive but for a 2d game it is good, a large map that invites you to discover it, but now come the negative points that unfortunately are many:

1 / some mechanics do not make much sense, things like artificial firewood logs have a relatively high cost in the early game phase for the small amount and the time they last to burn, in terms of the medium, wild creatures with absurd damage, A javali takes 1/4 of your life with a tier 4 armor, armor and durability system too short, I understand that it is a game that encourages crafting but they pass in terms of the durability of weapons, armor and several other things.

Short version

A pretty polished game for an Early Access title. PvP are pretty much a full-fledged game at this point, PvE however still needs some late game contents. Download the demo and try it for 8 hrs and judge it for yourself.

Long version

GRAPHICS : I gotta be honest, my first impression of Cryofall is not that great. The character and animation felt kind of “cheap”, like the type of designs you often sees in Freemium mobile games. There’s a variety of avatar faces to choose from, but they all have the same default “idle” expression. They’re by no means “ugly”, just a tad bit uninspired. The environmental, structure and creature designs however, looks great. You can tell the artist puts a lot of time and effort into it, plus the character design started to grow on me after a couple of hours of gameplay. So, eh. It’s alright.

Dysterra

Dysterra

Please note that this build is still a work in progress. Dysterra will be officially released in a near future.

Everywhere that Terrafire is burning is about to be wiped away. Only you can stop it through a co-op play by visiting Landmarks on the map.

Collect resources from your surroundings and craft clothes, weapons, food, and other necessities of survival. Hunt down animals for fresh meat and cook to starve off hunger. To survive longer, you need to look after your body condition to avoid getting undesirable status effects from elements like cold, heatstroke, or radiation exposure.

Build your own base to live in. Freely combine any of the 16 basic construction components to create your own structures. Construct structures and devices that will produce essential survival items or protect you from threats, such as Workbenches, Storages, Grills, and Turrets.

Enjoy FPS combat with melee weapons and firearms. Build a research facility to start crafting modern weapons. With enough progress, you can even produce powerful futuristic weapons. Other factors affecting your chance of survival include random supply drops, combat encounters with mysterious scouts, and the presence of hidden snipers, among many others.

Carth

Carth

Carth is a multiplayer medieval light fantasy rpg that brings an enormous open world map to explore. The open world on Carth is filled with dozens of unique enemies, legendary items, scores of towns, and truly beautiful scenery. Carth is meant for long time game play and persistent worlds with heavy focus on survival, building, crafting, and the freedom to do what you want. Not to mention many smaller maps meant for faster game play types such as Siege, Team Deathmatch, Capture The Flag, Last Man Standing, Tournaments and more. Players shall be able to host their own public or private servers and select the type of game style they wish.

#### The Four Sibling Gods For hundreds of years the inhabitants of Carth lived in relative harmony. Carth was home to a multitude of different races, factions and clans. Though conflicts would arise from time to time, trouble would soon dissolve into the usual balanced equilibrium so typical of the land. All of this meant little to the four god siblings residing over the realm. The youngest of the four, Taernath, saw the inhabitants of Carth as weaker beings. At first, the dwellers of Carth were mere playthings. Slowly and subtly these manipulations turned towards true evil and corruption of their souls, minds, and bodies.

#### The Evil Within Taernath found the more souls he converted towards his ideals and worship the stronger he became. As a result, the Schism of the Gods came to pass. Once Taernath’s powers grew there was nothing his siblings could do but try to reason and slow his corruption. Their words fell on deaf ears and in one brilliant flash of cosmic light he reduced his siblings to nothing more than shadows of their former selves. With no one left to oppose him, Taernath was consumed by the very evil he once wielded. A darkness fell over Carth that had never been seen before. Portals to other realms opened by Taernath flooded the land with dark shadows and terrors. Tribes of orcs invaded further south from the Clincolt, unholy beings walked through the rifts, and peace was but a distant echo of the past. These are the times that you find at your feet.

#### Can you Survive Can you Survive with evil spread throughout all of the lands how shall you live your life? Shall you bend a knee to the evil that undoubtedly awaits you, or shall you stand and fight? Fight to survive, fight to live, or fight to end this darkness brought forth from Taernath? Can you survive in these times? Welcome to Carth

Empyrion - Galactic Survival

Empyrion - Galactic Survival

I’ve been playing the game for more than 5 years. I have over 7K hours in game, so I have had fun. Lots actually. But in the last couple years it has morphed from a cool survival game to just another FPS. In space, you can not travel from a warp point to a planet without getting blasted to bits by any one of dozens of hostile dreadnoughts that half the time won’t identify with the scanner. Doesn’t matter if you have shields, kaboom. Most starter planets no longer have the ores to make a proper ship to begin with, and the ores are usually small and on public servers are wiped out by previous player. Its just not fun anymore for me, but if all you want to do is masturbate with your trigger finger then have at it.

You pay to be a Beta tester for a game that left Early Access a year ago and will technically still be in Alpha in 5 years from today on. And, oh boy, if you do not sacrifice your time to play free bug tester you do not have any right to complain about these bugs.

Technically the idea of the game is great. But the execution is so incredibly subpar and the devs do not seem to have any coherent plan and are operating way outside their scope. They are a 7-people team working in their spare time on a freakin universe. Every normal thinking human should now be totally aware of how long this may take.
