ADACA

ADACA

After being sentenced to 20 years of conscription service to pay off your corporate debts, you find yourself woken from a long cryogenic slumber aboard the derelict remains of the warship you had been stationed on.

You are now on ADACA, a “fly-over” planet in the heart of the galaxy’s rust-belt.

The strange man who thawed you out has replaced your arm with a robotic prosthetic, capable of force-manipulating loose objects, including enemy weapons. This may come in rather handy, considering the law isn’t quite fond of you or your new friends…

However, the police won’t be your only problem. ADACA is a strange and old world, full of dark mysteries. There are powerful, dangerous secrets out there in the rust, and many factions are looking to uncover them for their own ends…

ADACA is an episodic sandbox FPS heavily inspired by story-driven titles of the late 90’s and early 2000’s. This game features a heavy emphasis on exploration and manipulation of the environment to defeat your foes and solve puzzles using your gravity-manipulating robotic arm!

Review:

Game plays amazing especially when you get used to it I wish some things were explained a bit more, because not knowing how everything worked on my first play through made it painful when using discharge hold ctrl don’t just tap it or you won’t chain from enemy to enemy. When you jump you need to hold the space key to get max height or some jumps are impossible. The graphics are awesome and so is the sound track the boss fights are really fun and difficult as well. I also don’t know why some of the platforms you raise with your sprint move only stay up for a little bit sometimes and stay up for a super long time others which adds another level of difficulty, is some of the randomness in how certain things work in the game. Definitely recommend though the mechanics are dope and the cyberpunk aesthetic is great.

Explanation upfront:

This game is hard to judge, it has a lot of ups and downs, but I think the thumbs up is a little bigger, so I gave it a recommendation. But please read the Review, and maybe look for a lower price.**

Hybridising genres excites me. Taking even the basic gameplay loops of two long-established genres and mashing them up can at least make something somewhat interesting – at least for a little while. Disintegration treads this long neglected (and possibly a little treacherous) path by incorporating RTS-style unit management into a (somewhat) fast-paced first-person.

Set in the distant (but not too distant) future, Disintegration is about a world where humans can choose to have their grey matter ‘integrated’ into a robot armature, allowing a temporary new life as inorganic robo-beings - Only it’s not all sunshine and rainbows, as it appears a group of integrated/robotic deadshits known as the Rayonne have decided that full-scale robotification should be essential and irreversible across the entire human race, squarely working to stomp out any pockets of resistance (Human and Integrated alike).

Ever since I was born, around 12 years of age, I have dreamed of a game where I could build my base, raid the enemy, and fight for scrap. Fortify my team’s base with traps, walls, barbed wire, and turrets, scavenge scrap from mechs and craft explosives. Who is that on the phone? Ring ring? Oh why hell, it’s konami, they want Hideo Kojima back.

but really though its a nice little game, matches arent too long or too short, base building that can be really OP, nice little crafting system, and small fun bugs that come with every new game

give it a try yourself!

Action Commando

Action Commando

Action Commando is a Town of Machine spinoff focused entirely on combat. Hub-based world design, inventory management and most of the character interactions have been removed / de-prioritized in favour of fast-paced combat where your only concern is what’s trying to kill you at a given moment. While it lacks the depth of Town of Machine, it works really well as a coffee break, action-packed, top-down shoot’em up. Unlike in its predecessor you don’t have to worry about inventory space and quests - just go forward and blow things up… and it kind of works. The game is pretty short and unfortunately set almost entirely underground which makes the levels blend together but it’s not that big of a deal considering its lenght. Give it a try if you ever feel like mowing down monsters for a few hours.

A well-crafted, action-focused twin stick shooter with a good dose of humour. It’s a spin-off of Town of Machine that’s set in the same universe. While it uses many of the same assets as ToM, it’s more action-orientated and simpler to play.

Made by single person, its production values are excellent - gameplay, graphics, sound: all are top-notch.

It’s worth playing Town of Machine before this, but not wholly necessary.

7th Sector

7th Sector

A great side-scrolling sci-fi puzzle-adventure game, occasionally let down by some tedious elements.

Picture Playdead’s side-scrolling masterpieces, LIMBO and INSIDE, add some of Cyberpunk 2077 and Half-Life 2’s atmosphere, and what you get is essentially what 7th Sector is all about.

7th Sector is a visually striking side-scrolling story, occasionally interjected with puzzle elements, set in a dystopian city of the future, the likes of which strongly resemble the environments encountered in Half-Life 2 and Cyberpunk 2077.

Thank you to the lone developer and publisher,Носков Сергей, for creating and providing a good game for me to escape, explore, think and enjoy.

The 7th sector is simply put, a very good side scrolling puzzle game set in a beautiful cyberpunk dystopian future. I can name a half-dozen games where it is similar in aesthetic and story, but it is able to differentiate itself from others with a no hand holding approach to the puzzle/problem gameplay. This approach is welcome to puzzle adventurers but newcomers will find this difficult to frustrating and reading user reviews not surprising.
