87 Aftermath: A Rolling Ball Game

Pls Buy this game it has great graffix and good gameplay

[REVIEW SPONSORED BY GOOBER PLAYS GAMES]

play with goober’s balls i guess idk man

Real player with 1.8 hrs in game

This is a game where you control a ball and guide it through a bunch of short levels trying to turn all gray tiles to orange. Let’s look over some positives first:

-Encouragement of customization

-Bonus content

-Idea that can be cleverly expanded upon

Now, let’s look at the negatives:

-Inconsistent level difficulty

-Inconsistent level quality

-Some mechanics are only in 1 or 2 levels

-Exploit where you can jump on a wall infinite times

-Boring visuals

Is this the worst game I’ve ever seen? No. But I don’t think it’s worth your $10. The developer seems to be a good guy, looking at some of their other products, and can put quality into their games. This game just doesn’t seem it though. The idea can definitely be expanded on, and improved.

Adventure Light

Adventure Light

Adventure Light is a very atmospheric stylized puzzle side-scrolling game about a young boy named Steve. He is compelled to find his best friend Adam and, in his quest, he ventures onto the darkest paths of the mysterious forest.

Throughout the whole trip, you will encounter various interesting puzzles, which you will have to solve in order to keep moving. All the puzzles are designed as a combination of different elements of the environment that the main character interacts with. In particular: levers, boxes, platforms, carts, lamps, elevators, timers, doors, mills, pulleys, gears, and so on.

In order to make the trip even more enthralling, along the entire road, you will have an opportunity to find hidden plot items, that will reveal the details of this tangled story.

A special emphasis has to be placed on the atmosphere, given that it allows you to put yourself in the main character’s shoes and ultimately immerse in the fantasy world. The proper atmosphere in Adventure Light is established with the help of several key aspects, such as story, arts, color scheme, environment, forest sounds, and background music. All of them combined to allow the player to tap into the right mood and induce in him the right set of emotions.

ODA

ODA

So. I was the one of those who developed this game for GMTK Jam. And I was proud what the game was spotlighted there. But I left the development team and now I was excited to check how the game goes. I like the pros/cons type of comment so I’ll do the same.

Pros:

  • Hard puzzles. Or I’m not too smart for it.

  • Visual style. Especially the background.

  • The ball gun behavior. It’s fun to play with it.

  • Early access. So the game will be improved.

Cons:

  • It looks like there might be more sounds. I really miss some step or jump noises.

ODA is a 2D puzzle platformer about swapping yourself with objects, and swapping objects with each other. It’s pretty simple once you figure out the timings and how swapping works. 5.5/10

The House Before

The House Before

You wake up as a house.

Your limbs stretch through endless rooms filled with grotesque creatures. You can never see outside of yourself, never feel the world that lies beyond the fleshy walls of your body.

You manage your insides as best as you can, but you wonder : are you a good house or just a pale afterthought of the House Before ?

–—————

The House Before is a blend between a visual novel and an adventure game with some dungeon crawler and 3d platformer elements.

The game is mostly a narrative experience with light puzzles.

Explore your guts.

Heal old wounds.

Be a good house.

Remember who you used to be.

Raise your children.

Procreate.

Be better than the House Before.

Charge Kid

Charge Kid

The difficulty ramps up pretty quick here. Having greatly enjoyed Celeste I knew to keep at it and just try to master the controls. With Charge Kid, almost every single level I started it went from “this is ridiculous, just delete it and start up something else in the backlog of Steam games” but then sticking with it a bit more and then figuring out the solution and the itch was crazy strong to see what was in the next level. Definitely recommending this one. Great concept and fantastic mix of platformer and puzzles. A true hidden gem on Steam if you’re into those genres. Don’t miss out on it. This one is for the masochists out there though, beware. I hate it and love it. But I love it more. But I did hate having to give up on it right at the very end as my patience ran out.

Real player with 6.9 hrs in game

Truly awesome game! The tactics you’re meant to discover throughout the levels are pretty intricate and fun, but not hard enough to make you give up. Even though I’m not much of a platform guy, it’s definitely my new quarantine pastime. Worth every penny!
