Great platform game. It took me a while to get used to the controls, but then I got the hang of it. I recommend.

I wouldn’t recommend this game to anyone. While it has functionable gameplay, it has a major technical issue, a poor options menu, is short, and has a terribly uninteresting and vague story.

One of the biggest issues this game has is that it doesn’t save your progress. When I returned to the game, after saving and quiting, I found that the game hadn’t saved my progress which is why it took me 14 hours to beat the game when it should have taken five at most.

The game’s replayability is low. It has several levels, a few levels that are unlocked when you beat the game, and some gameplay modifiers that you can find in the campaign. I’d like to address quickly the supposedly creepy atmosphere this game has. It isn’t creepy.

Fumiko!

Fumiko!

As far as platfromers go this one is quite unique and extraordinary. First off its 3D, usually we have 2D pixel platformers, but with Fumiko we have a beautiful but abstract environment.

The game looks and feels great, it handles pretty well and every minute spent ingame is a joyous one, this game really is a unique platformer well worthy of it’s price tag.

The backstory or actual story of the game is rather complex and as you play it it starts to make sense to you, first off you play as a Female A.I who doesn’t know who she is where she is or what her purpose is, and that is where a fun feature comes in, something not always present with platformer, exploration; To put it simple it’s pure fun and entertaining. our region is some form of virtual security network mainframe that we get to explore, a lot of detail and creativity went into creating the perfect atmosphere really going the extra mile to present us with a form of authentic of what it would be like to explore a system in such a sense. The music really adds to every function of the game, enhancing it and setting a tone that really just soothes you into the game.

Where to start? The art. The aesthetic. Fumiko! is at once a simplicity and a pleasure to behold. Its low-poly style conveys exactly as much as it needs to, and its vibrant colors illuminate the world in a beautiful and satisfying way.

Meanwhile, the music is always on point to convey a great sense of atmosphere. Are things chill? Got it. Panicked? Also got it. Focused? Warm? Somber? Check, check, check.

The story is revealed in bits and pieces, sometimes through collectibles called memory fragments, other times through dialogue, sometimes simply through the aesthetic of each world. It is chilling, disturbing, familiar. It conveys grand and simple ideas in their turn. It asks the hard questions. It presses us about identity, artificiality, alienation, will, and many others.

INMOST

INMOST

I admittedly cried near the end because the story got very tragic and I just felt so miserable playing it, but I don’t mean it negatively, I think the game did a good job pulling on my heartstrings and occasionally stabbing the heart directly, granted most of that happens in the second half of this 3-4 hour game. Inmost tells a sad story from a perspective of 3 characters while also having different gameplay depending on who you playing. Essentially the game incorporates story-driven segments for one character, puzzle gameplay for another, and even some basic combat for the ‘knight’. I probably don’t need to tell anyone that game looks very nice, as far as the pixel art goes it’s about as good as you going to get, and it has a great soundtrack to complement it, although it didn’t have that many locations to explore and change the scenery.

Hidden Layer Games' debut title inmost caught my eye! It, along with “In Sound Mind” were at the top of my list from the Summer Game Fest!! Little did I expect that it would be the soonest to release out of all the demos I played. It literally just poof into the store, I think 2 weeks ago and sure enough, it wasn’t a joke as their Twitter announced it too.

I really liked the psychedelic theme mixed with a change of colors and that crazy drops effect gave a unique identity to the game, but for me the coolest thing is how the theme of each stage relates to the gameplay, sensational game!

Standard quality hidden-object game from Mad Head, this time with a horror twist. However, Maze: Subject 360 was slightly better and the best HOPA on the market is still True Fear.
