Lockdown VR: Kidnapped

Lockdown VR: Kidnapped

I was having a party and we decided to give this game a try on the side. Turned out to be quite fun competing with my friends and time. The puzzles were challenging i think it was a worthwhile purchase. With VR the escape rooms comes to me and not vica versa i like it.

This is a good game with interesting puzzles. Great for those who like multiplayer escape rooms. Could I request the developers to PLEASE add an option to turn off the timer. You guys have taken the trouble to create the environment and we like to be able to investigate it in a leisurely way.

Rain City has about 3 hours of content and a nice aesthetic for such a low price, but there are some problems with puzzle logic and interface. I noticed that ‘Cotton Game’ is not listed as the developer, so I wonder if they were involved with this project on the creative level - I would expect more polish from them if they were. Overall, the puzzles are very similar to the previous games, and they can be somewhat challenging if not a little heavy on the moon logic. I also had a few problems with the atmosphere when it comes to the soundtrack. In my opinion, there are too many rooms that don’t have any music, that being said, I think most of the songs are enjoyable. While I understand that devs were trying to use the silence strategically, it was just too much and made the game feel empty. Additionally, the game is a bit glitchy, but I only had to reset the game one time when my character got stuck in the animation. Some of the interface problems are more frequent, there are all kinds of issues involving pixel hunting.

Nice game that would even be more nice though if the devs would react to help-questions in the discussions…

Conspiracy!

Conspiracy!

A short but exceedingly sweet little game of deduction in the style of The Return of the Obra Dinn. The musical finale is the cherry on the cake of a well written and well voice acted gem.

A bit like a light weight ‘Return of the Obra Din’ - read the conspiracy posts, listen to the podcasts and the google stuff to pinpoint dates. When did Bryan Adams play a certain venue, what is Taylor Swifts birthday, what year did 21 May fall on a … Good fun for a couple of hours.

Zof

Zof

Wow… Just finished Zof and it is a very well done puzzler. Had a friend not pointed it out, I would have missed the experience entirely.

Pete Wilkins has done a great job of putting together a series of unrelated puzzles (some easy, some very complicated) that give you a true feeling of satisfaction when you solve one. The reward for completing each puzzle (or puzzle area) is a Steam Achievement plus entry into the next world. There is no story and none is needed.

The game consists of diverse (and often fantastic) landscapes done in a variety of artistic styles. The sound track is primarily environmental sounds and if you take your headphones off, you are apt to miss important aural clues. The mechanisms to move between the early puzzles are brilliant and, often, I laughed in delight as I was transported between worlds.

Zof is an excellent exposition in abstract puzzle making that uses simple logic but still keep the player wandering around like a headless chicken most of the time. The puzzles present within this game are all straight forward, once you know what to do. The most difficult part of solving each puzzle is understanding the logic within. Thus there’s nothing really all that complex about the puzzles, but you still have to think long and hard about each of the clues given.

Curious Cases

Curious Cases

My friend and I completed this together, both in VR. The graphics are good, the environments are well-designed, and the puzzles are interesting and mostly fair. We encountered a handful of bugs, but nothing game-breaking. Occasionally one of us would pick up an item and it would appear in the other’s hand. Once, we entered a correct code, got the “success” noise, but the door wouldn’t open. Luckily, we were able to reach inside and remove the items through the door anyway.

We were stuck for a long time in the first room on a puzzle that requires a numeric code. We’d just played this developer’s Tales of Escape, which is very similar. In that game, every lock requires exactly 4 digits. It wasn’t until we relented and got a hint that we realized this one needed 5 digits. Also, the code in the hint had two digits transposed.

I would say this is a great escape room-like puzzle game with friends, it might be tedious or annoying by yourself.

It’s got some rather interesting puzzles/riddles, and it’s well worth it’s price for what it offers, so I’d recommend it.

As for a VR experience, it’s mediocre at best, but works. That’s my summary of the review, if you want to read a bit more, see below.

One gripe I would have would be the sync between players in your game. You could’ve thrown an object across the room, yet the other player sees you drop it, the other player picks it up, then drops it normally and it falls through the ground for both players, requiring you to reset items. Or, items just wouldn’t be there for one or both of the players, causing you to reset items. You will be doing this often.

ESCAPE Room: Reality

ESCAPE Room: Reality

I actually quite enjoyed the game.

It’s an RPG maker game (yes, i know. No shit sherlock) and it was developed by an indie developer… Additionally I am a big fan of puzzle games and such stuff which caused me to try this game.

I had no problems solving the puzzles in the early game. Some puzzles are innovative and interesting. Not every puzzle is though (i speak to you: Lights Puzzle), but most of them are. Every game has some weak puzzles. Every puzzle can be figured out logically which makes it fun to progress and proceed through the rooms. The game also has different paths you can take and different endings you can get. Saving, loading and such stuff is no problem, you can do that anytime before important choices.

Real player with 31.5 hrs in game

Enjoyed the game very much. Not usually fond of puzzle games but I did try the real escape rooms before and really enjoyed that.

The story is interesting, especially after about halfway through. There are 2 different routes and after doing all the endings my favorite has to be the Escaped route and makes me think there will be more coming. Am I right?

The puzzles are mostly ok. There are hints that help you, and also a guide when you’re stuck so it’s really good since you will never be stuck.
