Against the Gradient

Against the Gradient

This game annoys me. It covers only four real transporters, and the rest are “nanobots” (so they can transport chemicals in both directions). And these two-way transporters work ONLY from higher to lower concentrations, rather than evening the concentrations in an only statistical sense, like in real cells. In that sense, I’d consider it “educational” only in the barest sense, and it’s not super-fun as a game either – but it could be. The only reason I’m voting “yes” is that with so few reviews a negative one would be devastating, and I’d like to see this improved upon. Surely a more complicated (and more realistic) cell-management game could be a lot of fun AND very educational.

Interesting way of apllying learning to a game. The idea is reatively simiple and straight forward, get the germs from point A to point B. Of course luck will play a hug part in this game. Either way it is still woth the time for younger children as they can learn a thing or two while playing so for that reason I recommend the game!

I’ve been getting into Sudoku’s and crosswords a lot recently, and this game also scratches that itch. It’s great to pick up and play when you have a few minutes (or quite a few for expert mode!) to tingle the brain. Normal mode is a little easy, so it’s a good way to get a bit of practise in before going to expert mode, which can take a decent amount of time to solve, if you can!

I’ve shown it to a few of my friends in my discord and they’ve all loved it, so I’d definitely recommend it to other people too!

I passed all achievements. I had a very nice and relaxing play. The game was easy to play and it starts easy and the harder as you play the game. Amazing game I recommend it to everyone.

I am loving this game! Doing layers of color and having a reveal at the end is very satisfying. The multiple shades on a layer makes it more challenging and interesting, and everything works really smoothly.

I have two recommendations. One has already been stated and it seems like you are already working on, the font. It’s needs more clarity. The other is while working in game, thicker borders on the color selector blocks on the right side would be helpful and make things a bit more obvious. I got used to it playing for a bit, but in the beginning it wasn’t very intuitive. (I was squinting for it in the tutorial.)

As you can see from my ridiculous amount of hours on this game, I really enjoyed it! This is the only game I’ve ever bothered to get every achievement from on steam, and the first I’m going to review because I think it deserves praise.

It is a nonogram game, with the twist of having colors on different layers, in addition to each layer having its own light and dark variation of those colors. This allows for more interesting puzzles than usual, and is really a shakeup for your average nonogram formula. Not only are the images more rewarding in the end (and some of the images themselves were really creative ideas, I love skateboard vampire), because you feel like each layer actually contributed to the image as opposed to it just coloring itself, the dark/light color mechanic gives you slightly different clues than usual nonograms. You can’t rely on straight numbers, but in a good way? It’s hard to describe, but this is by far my favorite nonogram game because of that. The controls are really smooth (I actually really like the alternate mouse control, give it a shot) and I didn’t have any problems with the game itself. The puzzles can be really challenging, but being able to switch layers always gave me a kind of break from whatever I was stuck on, so by the time I came back I immediately saw something I missed initially. I have bounced off of most nonogram games because I got bored by them eventually, but this one got me right to the end.

i am ashamed about how long i’ve played this. This game would not be so bad, if the puzzle pieces actually fit together.

But for real, the puzzle pieces did not even fit together.

cute dogs tho.

Sokoban: Bunny Tales

Sokoban: Bunny Tales

This game is a good game, don’t let the graphics fool you.

It builds on the concept of sokoban quite well, even if many of its puzzles drift away from the main idea of sokoban and become more like a better version of chip’s challenge. Much of ‘those’ stray puzzles are welcomed additions when compared to the variety it already has when focusing only on its more sokoban-like puzzles of pushing objects onto spots.

Being only 200 levels long, it’s rather short when combined with its relative ease, albeit its difficulty does fluctuate. For me, it took only 22 hours to beat all of the levels… This ensures that the game can’t possibly overstate its welcome, if such a thing was possible with its variety.
