As a fan of the Tao Te Ching, I picked this game up on a whim shortly after release.

It appears simple but has challenged my patience as a Zen koan does to the student.

Choices appear to be mapped as the player walks on the trapezoid block, which denotes a forked path, with what looks like two Asian characters on it. Each character is a set of three horizontal lines be they solid or halved – called “trigrams.” Walking over the forked block, a trigram appears onscreen at right.*

*A web search of ‘trigrams i ching’ yields info on decoding the eight trigrams of the Taoist I Ching and the 64 hexagrams, corresponding to 64 levels in the game. Each hexagram presents a philosophy, to start the level. www -dot- taoistiching -dot- org

I AM DIE

I AM DIE

Have you ever rolled a dice and thought to yourself “Wow; this is boring. I wish I had full 360 radial movement, a boost, a double jump, and slow-motion capabilities…”?

If so, then I AM DIE is the game for you!

Set across a series of surreal floating islands with procedurally-generated musical soundscapes, I AM DIE is a physics-based 3D puzzle platformer in which you must find, release, and guide a ball to its goal, weaving your way through an increasingly fiendish set of ramps, tubes, conveyors, and other obstacles.

But each roll of the dice counts toward your final score, so as you explore and progress, you must battle against the forces of randomness to keep your level-complete time FAST and your roll-score LOW!

With over fifty main levels (and a few secret ones), I AM DIE is a game that’s easy to play and difficult to master, and may have you tearing your hair out every time you delicately guide yourself toward a “one” and inexplicably land on a “six”.

No microtransactions. No pay to win. No skins or hats or online multiplayer or global rankings. Just good old fashioned platforming fun from an era gone by.

*** Tightly programmed and expansive controls.

  • Over 50 unique levels.

  • Procedurally generated music.

  • No upgrades. You start with everything you need!

  • Secrets and achievements.

  • Behind the scenes content.

  • Should run on very low-end machines (because it was made on one).

  • The dice has a super cute voice!**

Have you got what it takes to get a three star ranking on every level? There’s only one way to find out…

Works best with a controller.

Very simple platformer but it’s very enjoyable! It’s pretty colorful with an adorable main character! The soundtrack is also quite beautiful. I really like it :)

OK i need to give a negative review because it’s not optimize at all. it’s just a simple platformer right?! I also want to point out two more thing.First the camera is broken when you are too close to object, second there are some problem with climbing up.

OK let’s go back to positive,it’s Kawaii,i always wanted to play as a 4 inch tall transient and now i have it,with this game! This game have good modeling and good atmosphere, there are also different mechanism. but overall I’m sorry to give negative review.but if you like kawaii platformer and you have a good pc,give this game a try!

I got this game to play with my 3 year old daughter and its been a prefect little game for us to enjoy together. She calls it the octopus game and i have videos of her just screaming with joy when the octopus pops on the screen, its so darn cute. She even helps me spot the collectibles to grab while where playing. The game itself is really short but its really enjoyable and still somewhat fun to go back and play over again like I’ve done many times. There is 2 other mini games included like the floor is lava which is a fun bonus to play. Overall, for a free game its a great one to try out.

Real player with 20.8 hrs in game

What a amazing game! So far its just one level, with some unique and fun game modes, like the floor is lava. The controls are easy to start playing, and hide more complex mechanics that you start to use when trying the time challenge, like speeding up in the air depending on how fast you are rotating. The achievements in this were a blast to hunt down! the first / only level has 31 collectables to find, along with a couple (i think 7) random side task achievements. Close to everything in this game can be interacted with, your either destroying something, or using a item you picked up to destroy something. Id highly recommend this to anyone, Its free and freaking fun! I just wish they had more levels, id be willing to pay for this!

Attempt[42]

Good concept with bad controls.

First person platform puzzler

In Attempt 42 you have to touch a number of blocks to finish a level. Whenever you are standing on a block, you have the ability to rotate the world over one axis. Basically you’re always jumping or falling from one block to another, especially in the time mode in which you have to finish within a sharp time. The world also turns when you follow a curved platform, or when you approach a block from its side.

A bit like Tetris from within, could be better

The customary unnecessary intro

This game seemed interesting at first, did have steam cards, and well, overall seemed kind of promising. Not sure if I would ever buy it of the shelve thou. To be honest, probably not, but strangely I wouldn’t mind playing the demo of the second version, as the game is promising if things are improved, and the concept of the game is better. Ok, lets get into it.

The Game

The games is a mixture between a puzzle solver and se gravity action game, which very much reminds to games such as Valve’s Portal logic, without the graphics and the budget to do most things else. The game is set out as an First Person Shooter (“FPS”). It took some time before the mouse was configured in a playable manner. The first impression was that it moved a bit slow, and the goal or objective of the game was not immediately obvious, at least to me, but I have been known to take more time to understand this kind of games. I hate tutorials as much as the next guy, but when you are an indie, maybe you make things a bit more user friendly at the start of the game. No, it is not that I haven’t played FPS before -I am totally acquainted with the WASD controls- it is more about not exactly knowing what is to be done at the start of the game. Every game has its learning curve, but some clues, some more context to what is going in in the surroundings or in the game’s universe itself would be of great help, if it’s not too much to ask, that is.

ChromaGun

ChromaGun

This is a mediocre game, at best.

People keep comparing it to Portal (when I say this, I mainly mean Portal 2), but I don’t think they can be at all reasonably compared. Portal is lightyears ahead in quality: it’s several years older, yet it’s much more innovative, better scripted, better acted, looks better, has far better interface responsiveness, and probably a lot more I’m not mentioning here. I cannot think of a single way in which Portal doesn’t blow this game out of the water.

Whereas the humor in Portal was hilarious and witty, ChromaGun’s sarcastic narration misses the mark by a mile, largely being comprised of a somewhat obnoxious barrage of reused insults directed toward the player.

Real player with 15.9 hrs in game

chromagun is a competent 1st-person puzzler where you mix colors to paint surfaces and droids to move them out of the way, open doors, etc. the presentation is very good, I liked the music and the narrator a lot. settings are okay, separate volume sliders, rebindable keys, etc. no fov or brightness sliders though, and not much to tweak the graphics with, but it runs well even on an old system. the 8 chapters with 58 levels should take maybe 5 or 6 hours.
