Infliction
INFLICTION, a game, a death world portal into pure nightmare malevolence beyond measure where dwells demonic malice. A work diabolically balanced in angles of disturbing suspense where every step of your feet is taken in fearful trepidation as the creaking of the floor is as the Devil whispering in magnified immortal rage unimaginable into the core of your being ' I am going to kill you ‘.
INFLICTION, a place outside, a mirror world, a anti world where death pulsates black in hallways once alive filling one with paralyzing mind numbing dread as if awakening from deep slumber to find yourself buried alive beyond the reach of the living, beyond the din of day to day life.

Infliction shines a light in the cold, dark corners of a genre struggling to innovate
It’s been several months since our original size up of Caustic Reality’s Infliction, so I sat down for another playthrough to provide a short update to my review.
The level of polish the game has as of today, 1/14/2019, is pleasing. I went through an entire run without a bug or any performance annoyance. Caustic Reality’s dedication to ensuring the quality of their project is heartening. Added content gave a few more moments to keep you on your toes in moments where progress pacing could feel like it was dragging, and gave me a few extra frights I wasn’t expecting. I maintain that this indie gem is one of my favorite finds of 2018. As someone who struggles to find new, unique, abstract story-telling in the horror genre, I have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of this short experience. I hope this project opens doors for more scary story-telling from Caustic Reality in the near future. I think we could use more games like Infliction on Steam.

Lucius II
After being in the Psych Ward for six months, the doctors decide shock treatment is the best for young Lucius and that’s where things go wrong. Sadly, you don’t get to see what happens next but judging by the blood on the walls and the dead body sitting next to you with the deliberator in his chest one can only imagine…
Unlike the first game where each person has a specific way they need to be sent to Hell, the sequel gives you the chance to explore the possibilities with a wide variety of deaths ranging from poisons, explosions, mind control murders, and flying oxygen tanks that are almost impossible to aim. My favorite kills so far have to be combining water on the floor with the deliberator, and using the nail gain which is pretty much a one-shot kill for each nail you have at your disposal. The hardest kill method is the oxygen tanks I’ve mentioned, because there’s no easy way to aim the sucks on the cart they use and the item keeps moving after you’ve stopped moving the cart. I could kill with a Dixie cup and some string easier than the tanks.

I would give this game 3/10. I bought this game when I was younger. I remember watching people like pewdiepie and other channels play through the first game. The first game had its issues but you were engaged with the story and the gory kills. The main issue was it’s linear nature. You didn’t have any freedom with your kills (this is important later on so remember this). In 2015 Lucius 2 came out. Youtubers played it, however not as many did compared to the first game. This was a sign. I watched pewdiepie play through it and it looked like fun. I bought this game for $2.99 in 2016. At the time I didn’t have a strong enough computer to run it. When I booted it up it would just be stuck on the tutorial with a terrible frame rate. There was also an error that would just crash the game and would let me close or uninstall the game. That is the reason why it says i spent 18 hours in this game that only takes two hours to beat. The year is 2020, I got a new PC and saw this game in my library and i figured it was time I finished what i started in 2016. I booted up the game and slowly began to realize the problems with this game. I was struggling to push myself to finish this game. I wasn’t able to finish it until 2021. I deleted it and considered giving up at least 7 times. You might be confused by that last statement. Is this game hard? hell no. It is just so hard to sit through. I kept wondering when it would be over and it never was (Of course there is an ending, that was just hyperbole). The story didn’t feel as intriguing as the first one. Unlike the first game your training wheels are off and you have complete freedom in what you can do. This is a major flaw of this game, with this freedom you begin to notice flaws. A mechanic this game features is lifelines. As you are being captured/caught you can use a lifeline to become free and you are given a chance to run. I don’t understand how many lifelines you have but this removes almost all the challenge in this game. I went back to watch pewdiepie’s series and i slowly noticed him not enjoying it as much and pointing out some of the games flaws. What happened to the game I saw when i was younger. I guess I was just stupid and overlooked things. I understand that they did the best that they could and I understand that the game company is rather small. However that doesn’t change anything, a bad game is a bad game. This is the low point in the Lucius series. Lucius was an interesting game that grabbed a lot of people’s attention with it’s unique premise and gory kills. Lucius 3 had laughably bad graphics and a weird convoluted story. This game is the worst thing any game could be, forgettable. I remember only two things. The first thing is the opening cinematic. The second is Cr1tikal. Yes, Cr1tikal the youtuber. He voices a character in the second to last level. Cr1tikal also voices a character in Lucius 3. Besides those two things, i can’t remember a thing. Duke Nukem forever is terrible but people remember it. Same goes for Mass effect Andromeda and anthem both were laughable bad and people still talk about the issues in those games to this day. If you want a game about killing and being stealthy pick up Hitman 2016, stay away from this game.

Math Fun
I’m a massive Math Fun fan. I loved the hell out of the Math Fun remake, thought they kept it 90% faithful but the stuff they changed made sense for a modern take on an old classic. That said, Math Fun is my favorite in the entire franchise for a number of reasons. Despite Math Fun taking the blame for kicking the MF series into action, I thought it was a nice mixture of horror, drama and action that traumatized me as a kid and continues to entertain me as an adult. I have almost the whole script memorized, I know how to speedrun it, I loved the Mercenaries mode which had you strategically race through the city on a 10-minute timer that gets longer for every enemy kill, every dodge, and every civilian rescued, with 4 characters to play as that have different weapon arsenals.

Shook up the bottom, made a good girl pop

The Song of Saya
I got this game both because people are trying to compare it to Doki Doki Literature Club and because I’ve heard of its explosive popularity when it was (re-)released.
Right off the bat, to clear the air, there is absolutely NO COMPARISON between the two games. They are on their own separate tiers, respectfully.
I was excited to play it since it immediately started out with the horror. Though, when it gives us the option to choose to censor the gore and such, I expected to see it ALL, but that is not the case.
! For example, in the case of Fuminori driving his head down into the axe, and Koji dreaming of him in that state, we are not allowed to see it because it is actually censored , weirdly enough. Saya gets violated, and we see it while she’s in her “human” guise and, while I’m glad I didn’t have to see that, I was surprised to see it so censored. Not only that, some of the voice acting was taken out for that part, in what I assume to be another form of censoring so that it wasn’t as disturbing? But, what about the voice acting that’s done when Yoh is being violated when she clearly refuses–both when she has her mind and when she loses it? Lastly, what I was most disappointed with was that the game refused to give us any CGs of the full body of these disgusting “aliens.” Was it to add to the narrative that they were just that terrifying and disgusting? If that was the case, then why even bother with those first CGs of the “aliens” that Fuminori sees in the beginning? With the close up shots of the eye and another with something bulging(?) to the tentacles we see with the more nude shots, I believe they were more than capable of giving us a CG of these monsters. Maybe it is because it was initially released in, I believe, 2003 that it was afraid of giving us more? Whatever it is, the gore isn’t too bad unless you truly hate seeing guts in any form. To me, the guts were just so computerized(?) that I believe most would be able to stomach it.

“To you, who loved me, I give this planet”
The Song of Saya (Saya no Uta) is a Lovecraftian horror love story where love is disturbing no matter which way you look at it and the monster changes with your perspective. It’s depraved and wicked while taking you on a journey into the deepest parts of madness. Like every good Lovecraftian story it promises to defile and poison you by “the insanity called truth”. It also examines different truths by juxtaposing different perspectives through a prism of a hellish mirror.

Ukrainian ball in search of gas
Ukrainian ball in search of gas is fascinating tale of confidence, faith and discovery, this fully open world, adventure, indie, simulation has you following the protagonist around a gorgeous world in search of the precious fossil fuel, gas.
Before we go any further, this review will contain small spoilers, I am just breaking down the main story and gameplay, so this really shouldn’t impact any of your gameplay of this astounding game. Also the you may have already read the “About This Game” section, this was clearly written before the famous 1.7.3 update, as since then they had to change the story a bit as the main investors were not massive fans. I think it got changed for the better, this new story was and is a lot better than the previous, I have played both and I will be going through the newer version today.

This game is the most emotional and graphic game that has ever been created, it has such amazing graphics that no one has ever been able to play on the ultra-quality, which happens to be better than the real worlds looks. In about 20 years time this game will still be the most graphical game ever. Not only that but the gameplay is truly inspiring and emotional I have already cried so much I have run out of tears. This game has also inspired me to become the best I can be and has finally made me find my purpose in life. This game has changed me for the better and can change you too if you let it. This game is also has endless story so you will never run out of anything to do in this game. You also get to go on an amazing back story through his evolution and how he became a ball, and was abandoned by his wife, daughter, friends and other family. You also get to go on an amazing quest to find your daughter later to save her from the Ukrainian government who is trying to change her into a ball as well, you will get to fight your way through them for hours to try to save your daughter from the same fate. There is also amazing side quests where you get to help the civilians of Ukraine whose lives have been ruined by the government. Apart from the story and graphics this game also had amazing controls, there so simple yet so complicated, they are the perfect type of controls you could ever want. You get all of this in the game for the small price of $1.50, for everything you get in the game that is probably the most amazing deal in existence, you wont ever run into a better deal than that, wow. This game has also made me realize that I needed to improve my life. Before this game I was a heavy drinker and took drugs constantly, I would have probably died before the month finished. But god came down to me and bestowed me upon this amazing game, I bought it and I now couldn’t ask for a better life. I have a beautiful wife and two baby girls. I have an amazing house and now earn over $200, 000 a year, I also haven’t touched any of that stuff since I got the game. This is the best game in existence. Spoiler you can have sex in this game, very detailed.

STORY
Conan the mighty pig has a story that is open to much speculation. It is implied by the title that the pig you play as is named Conan and was for some reason granted the epithet, “the mighty pig,” most likely earning it for proving his strength during combat. Ironically, Conan does not display any strength and has to sneak around tougher opponents and has to use herbs to get past bees. After years of owning a farm and not making profit (speculation of the story told without dialogue) he decides to move on from the farm and look for truffles. Truffles can potentially be very expensive in a larger size and are found in the ground by animals like pigs and trained dogs in real life and are profitable if the time and effort are put in to the labor, so it is reasonable that Conan would make the choice to look for truffles. He sets off on his quest to find one hundred fifty truffles.

Hello Charlotte EP3: Childhood’s End
//this review has spoilers. be cautious
This is by far one of the best games I ever played. This goes for the whole series - The first game was amazing on its own. I always enjoy games that make a special connection between player and character. The second was beautiful in its own right. But this? This is by far the best out of the three.
This game was everything I had hoped for. An amazing story. An amazing story is important, and in my opinion something that goes towards an amazing story is the impact on the player. Make the player feel something. This game did exactly that. I felt sorry. I felt happy. I fell in love with each character, even if they had little time on screen. It especially hit me when characters died. I know that you can’t control what characters die, usually, and that usually helps me get over deaths in media, but I still felt bad for the characters when I saw them come to their untimely demise. Vincent, for example. Right after Vincent died, I nearly cried. His familiar face from the earlier installment helped with that. I had quite liked Vincent, or C for familiarity sake. I could see a lot of myself in him, especially now, since I often make characters and write stories. When I saw Vincent die, well, yeah. Other than that, I felt extremely bad for Charles. Watching your friend, your idol die right in front of you when they wanted to die WITH you. The things with Scarlett made me feel terrible for him as well, and when the scene with his mother happened, well, lets say I did not handle that very well. That’s what makes a good story, to me. An impact on the player. I started caring for the characters very much. At the end of the game, after the scene with the TV, I felt appreciated. I felt like I had actually done good for the characters, all by choosing to smash that TV. I cared for these characters, and this game made me feel a lot coming out of it. I felt vaguely happy. Happy that I had done something. But, other than that, I was happy for the characters. They really had gained true freedom.

I completed this awhile ago and couldn’t really accurately write down my feelings. I was an absolute fool and marathoned all the Hello Charlotte games back to back. Considering I have severe depression, PTSD, and other mental illnesses you don’t need to know, that combination at times had a negative effect on me. So I guess I’ll mention right now if you’re riding on the coat tails of Episode 2, take a step back. Take a day or two at least to calm down, because I was feeling nearly suicidal at certain points, though that’s my own mentality to blame. This is definitely not the type of game to play when you’re feeling depressed. It’s understandable that in a state of depression you might want to play depressing games, but I think we as a species want our fiction to, at least usually, give us the message that things will be better, so for a game to say things won’t be better can really hurt. That’s why i’m saying take this when you’re not super depressed. Try to calm yourself before playing it, or play with a friend or something to lessen the blows you might take.

Horns of Fear
SPOILER WARNING - I just made it to the end of Horns of Fear, and while I’m only currently at 82%, I have to say that this game is definitely worth your time and the couple of dollars it currently costs. I’m honestly surprised at the lack of attention this game has received within the gaming community, as I think it deserves a much larger fanbase. I plan to continue returning to the game to try and make it to 100% and see what other possible endings may be available, as I felt there were many different angles the story could have taken - there were little nuggets of information and clues hidden around the mansion, and the 90’s horror point-and-click style gameplay gave it both a nostalgic and creepy atmosphere. The puzzles are actually harder in the beginning - I spent probably 45 minutes to an hour determining the probability for the Pasiphae puzzle because it never gave any indication that the pieces were in the right order. It wasn’t until I gave up and made it to the doll head puzzle that I realized how the puzzles were connected that the Pasiphae puzzle never gives you any obvious indicator that the pieces are in the right order - you just need to know the story.

It was alright
Pros
The graphics and art style was interesting
There were some nice scares around the beginning, before the whole 4th wall thing and it got a little silly
Cons:
Some of the puzzles didn’t make a lot of sense. Maybe half of them were logical, but the rest were either random guessing or the hints were so obscure that even after finishing and replaying it, I still haven’t actually seen what the hint was. Also, there was a puzzle that was a hint to another puzzle, but the problem was that there was no indicator if the player solved the first puzzle correctly or not. So it wasn’t very useful as a hint
