The Summoning

The Summoning

My friend and I, played this game together. I didn’t really follow the instructions but they did. It’s not my style but they got scared a few times while playing. As far as it being real and actual ghosts haunting his house, I don’t believe in that stuff period. A few times there were some noises and things that happened but I think it’s just a coinsidence. He on the other hand almost pissed himself when things would happen in the house, but hes a pansy so who knows?

I played through this “Game” twice.

The first time, I just read through it but didn’t complete any of the actual “In Real Life” tasks.

Then… I noticed things started… happening…

Now, I’m a very sceptical person. I typically don’t believe in “spirits” or “ghosts” and the such.

But… I decided to give this game another try and actually perform the tasks as intended…

I can’t explain what started to happen around me and in my home, including experiences my family started to have…

I wish I could explain it, but I can’t…

DISTRAINT 2

DISTRAINT 2

Proof-read the English, tested the game, and wrote a fully comprehensive guide. Safe to say - I’ve got this game down to a T! TL;DR - buy the game, play it, and enjoy! Easy 100%er and very enjoyable.

Backstory:

When I played the first DISTRAINT, I honestly wasn’t expecting much more than an easy 100% achievement game to help knock my stats up for a very low price - my expectations were instead surpassed. The storyline was a little twee and fairly predictable, but clichés and linear / predictable stuff exists for a reason: it’s what humans like. I realised the entire game had been written, composed, drawn, really just everything’d by ONE guy, and consequently rose in my estimation. I followed Jesse on social media, and idly came across a post some months later about a sequel, and his new DISCORD server. I joined the server, and started getting hyped up for the sequel. Then he picked me to proof the English :O so I really have seen this game since its infancy!

After a three year gap, Jesse Makkonen’s back with Distraint 2! If you’ve read my first review, you’d know that I was so moved by the mature, depressing c’est la vie story of an ordinary person making one bad choice after another. It wasn’t lengthy but its message was profound. The ending may have bummed out and sparked some speechless responses.. But thankfully if you’ve kept your hopes up- Distraint 2 picks up immediately from what happens to Price after that screen cut to black. How much lower can Price sink into?

Lost in Vivo

Lost in Vivo

Honestly one of the scariest games I’ve played in a long time.

I think what’s so terrifying about this game is how accurately it portrays people’s fears, anxiety and depression in a visual and auditory experience. The game’s description claims it’s “about claustrophobia” but it’s much more than that; the whole of the game is a journey through the mind of someone suffering from the ailments mentioned above and the claustrophobia only greatly amplifies this. The distorted depictions of people and environments encountered throughout the game reflect how one may see the world when afflicted with a suffering mind.

I love the hell out of this game. For a title that looks like it would fit right at home on the PS1, it’s incredibly horrifying at times. It’s been a long while since I’ve screamed as much as I have while playing survival horror, and let me tell you, I didn’t expect it to happen with this indie gem.

Lost in Vivo begins with you taking your cute little corgi for a walk, but when the sky opens up and proceeds to dump rain down on you, your pup ends up washed down a sewer drain. Frantic, you quickly dive in to rescue him, only once you’re beneath the earth’s crust, your doggy is nowhere to be found. You spend most of the first area whistling and following his barks, but it’s not long before you realize that something isn’t quite…right. While the premise is rather vague and ambiguous (it’s apparent that you’re being treated for claustrophobia, yet you end up exploring other people’s thoughts and fears), it’s enough to keep you moving forward in the hopes of rescuing your furry companion.

This game is absolutely stunning. From the portrait art, to the soundtrack (definitely would recommend adding that on if you choose to purchase it), to the amazingly well-written characters and story, this game is absolutely a gem in my collection which I have played and replayed time and time again.

Even though it’s listed as a horror, the gore is limited to the pixel sprites (which can be toggled), and descriptions - none of the CGs are graphic in nature. However, half of the fun is in finding the different ENDs to the paths Freya can choose to take, and seeing if you can discover them all (including the bonus ones). Thus, trying to think of ways to bring death unto yourself and others does end up as part of the goal.

I have played through a couple of times now and I love the story! In terms of bugs, there is only one that is of any significance to me; at the time of writing this review some of the achievements appear to be bugged, and although I have reached several “ENDs”, none of the achievements seem to have been unlocked

No matter however, I shall just wait for a hotfix and then have an excuse come come back and attempt to unlock the rest!!!

My Word was ‘Bloodthirst’

This was very interesting as it made me realise how violent of a person i have the potential to be. I wasn’t scared for a single moment during this but that doesnt meant it isnt a bad game, it was just different for me. It made me realise how calm i’d be with that situation, the one you get given with ‘Bloodthirst’, How i wouldnt be afraid. That intrigues me, Do I really have the potential to be a serial killer? How easily could that happen and how easily could that be avoided? Blood is fascinating in how it stains your hands, literally and figuratively. I will have to think about this more. I care for people and I could never harm someone yet if I was pushed too far, If i snapped. Could I stop myself? This is a very interesting game and makes you think about things you may not want to. Thats what makes it good.

A few months back I saw “The Test” and picked it up. I enjoyed the questions…well most of em lol… and the cool and sometimes too real summary of me…Well, it described me as well as someone who knows me would, and not many do.

OK.. back to “the horrorscope”. …basically same as “the test”. series of questions followed by an analysis of the type of person you are based on your answers to the questions(I think, who really knows what is going on behind the curtains?…not i). its a 15-30 ish minute experience but for a buck or 2 its like getting your fortune told basically.
