Confusing, bewildering, nonsensical and not particularly scary. Save your money.

Pretty good game. It was for sure weird but was interesting and gave some good scares. I only wish it gave more direction on what to do cause if you are stuck on something there are no hints or anything to help you out. Overall for the price I would say it’s worth checking out. If you want to see some game play you can watch my play through below.

Occult

Occult

This is going to be a simple quick review. It’s a 4 player co-op survival horror game, if you’re familiar with the genre, there is nothing groundbreaking in this game. However, this game takes a Devour style gameplay and really polishes it. It is almost impossible on solo, but becomes exponentially easier the more players you have. Legitimate jump scares, lots of enemies to avoid, lots to collect, lots of ways to escape, multiple ways to deal with the entity, and more levels coming as the game develops.

Me and my boyfriend had a ton of fun playing it. I tried really hard to break the game but to no avail. Definitely distinguished itself from Sign of Silence. I will say that the branches in the maze were my worst enemy, slowing me down so my enemies could pick me off. Overall a great game with much potential, can’t wait for the new maps.

P.S. If anyone knows how to get the clumsy achievement let me know (have fallen a lot but haven’t died from it yet) ;)

NIGHTSLINK

This can either be a simplistic, moody walking simulator or a maddening descent into esoteric analysis.

You’re thrust into a hallway. You could almost feel P.T. vibes if not for the low-poly environment. There are no real jumpscares though, just a foreboding desolation. You deliver tapes by knocking on specific doors. What are on these tapes? Why are people afraid to leave their apartments? Why is the world a Silent Hill-like version of Eraserhead’s industrial wasteland? You, probably, will not find an answer to this. There is a lore, but it’s sparse. Everything is built around that feeling of hopelessness and the confusing hints at something bigger going on. The small dialogues paint a picture of a world full of derealization, cosmic horror, and some corporate espionage. It seems easily taken in, but then you ask why you passed up the man usually found smoking in the hallway when you drove on an empty street. You make tapes for the residents and wonder what seemingly mind-altering messages or sounds are on them. Why are things so deafeningly quiet, besides the buzzing behind you?

You’re basically a deliveryman in a post-apocalyptic and eerily quiet world in NIGHTSLINK. Not much context needed because of this game’s brevity and about 30 minutes of gameplay if you play through it twice. As someone who regularly has surreal dreams, and those bordering on nightmares are only so because of this impossible feeling of intense anxiety and dread. NIGHTSLINK is a little like that; a lot of uncertainty and a sprinkling of dread, and lovecraftian horror.

I think NIGHTSLINK’s strength is prevalent in its sound design, because some parts of it genuinely live up to the phrase “piercing silence”. Quite literally. And because I’m a sucker for retro/PSx styles in modern indie games, I have to praise that too. Just the right amount of unsettling and darkness, and the sound design helps sell the disconcerting atmosphere. I won’t try to pretend there’s any story, or at least that there’s any need to try and decipher the hypothetical story to make this game “better”, I think it’s good as-is and the lack of context just makes it all the more harrowing. Don’t get me wrong though, it does a terrific job hinting at its worldbuilding, which I absolutely love.

Squeaky Clean

Squeaky Clean

This game is really good. It has a basic UI with easy to get used to game play helped with initial level tutorial texts. The controls are responsive and fluid, making the challenge of this title about you and what you are doing or not doing in some cases.

For the jump scares, it does the job well. While playing, a constant feeling of dread is present, an uncomfortable unease that won’t go away. While cleaning up, it is always random if you are pestered to near insanity or practically left alone, both of which only add to that unease you feel, keeping you anxious. This I personally feel when far into any Day of any Victim and my eyes fall onto the number of what I am finishing up on for wash area. Seeing 53 of 100 you would think would make you feel awesome that you are near done, but it really just adds more stress to your brain as you start thinking you will get really harassed by the baddies during that last time.

Tried this out for a spoopy stream and it didn’t disappoint! Carrion Wave was nice enough to provide me with a code to try it out and, IMO, I’d say it’s worth the $4.99! It’s a bite-sized game that should run you about 2 hours according to the devs, but RNGesus is never on my side when it comes to horror games of this variety, so i’m clocking in nearly 5 hours on it (that, and I got into a debate with my stream about how long one should take to bathe and wash their hair LOL). I’ve played the FNAF games, so this is definitely right up my alley! I’d say give it a go if you’re a fan of FNAF-esque games, give this a shot!

The Circle Of Suffering

The Circle Of Suffering

This game is a psychological horror in which the main character wakes up in an unfamiliar house and must pass all the levels by solving puzzles. Puzzles are miniature tests of finding objects and comparing facts to solve the main problem - opening the door leading to the next level, deeper into the ground and the depths of the character’s consciousness. At the same time, the player will be frightened by frightening sounds and an oppressive atmosphere.

graphics are sharp on ultra. Even with a bare house, you find yourself ignoring this as your head is spinning 360 degrees constantly. it is a horror but if a child suffers from this amount of monsters for seven days AND not sleeping, it would drive anyone to hallucinate. I could only get to night six but you can watch my walk through below:

Death in the Family

Death in the Family

I wanted to like this game it had a great atmosphere and the jump-scares were good. I liked this game until I got to when the hallway turns all red and the stuffed animals are on the ceiling. I was forced to walk to the end of the hallway where someone is waiting and when I got there the person killed me I think but the screen just goes black and stabbing sounds can be heard then nothing. No ending, no credits, just blackness with the white dot in the middle of the screen. I am not the only person who had this happen too and I played it two times in the video below just to confirm. Also, some events are time base so I had events stacking on top of each other in my first play-through. I can not recommend this game at $4 when it feels unfinished. I waited one day to see if a patch was going to come out to add an ending but nothing. This game is only about 40 minutes long. If you want to play this just know it is short but has some good jump scares but I think your $4 can be spent on another game. If this game had an ending and was cheaper than I would give it a higher score and a recommend.

Unfortunately, I’m having to leave a bad review. The game has so much potential, with lots of jump scares, but once you get to the man at the end of the hall, it glitches and the screen goes black. Being a full time streamer, my community was very disappointed to say the least. For that reason i can’t leave a good review.
