Glitchspace

Glitchspace

‘Takes out number 50. Multiplies it to 2500. Places Y Vector. Applies force. Jumps on jump pad. Meets God.’

The story is simply your ability to move forward in a giant abstract arena where you’re required to constantly programme red cuboids to do your bidding. This testing zone is made challenging through both the introduction of various programming commands as well as the taking away of them. While the first quarter of the 3 hr game will be just you simply moving, stretching and rotating the direction of various red platforms, the latter two thirds will require you to learn some more slightly complicated commands like trying to find the specific identification number of a cube etc.

I first played Glitchspace several years ago, when it was in a rather early stage of development. I quite liked it, especially the ways in which I could break the game to do as I wanted. It had a short set of levels, and a nice enough sandbox. At the time, I would have recommended the game.

However, playing it now it has been fully released, I found myself more infuriated than anything else. The biggest frustration for me was the way in which it handled the puzzles. At set points, the game just takes away certain abilities to try and force you to solve a puzzle in a certain way. Not a bad idea in principle, but because of the bizarre difficulty curve it made some of the later puzzles really confusing. I ultimately resorted to a walkthrough, which was disappointing because it turned out it was the final puzzle in the game that I got finally stuck on.

I like the idea of the command blocks: you don’t write a code, but learn how it works. It didn’t have to be a VR game, by the way. I would love to play on PC or mobile. Overall, this is a great VR puzzle game.

Oh…. my…. god…. seriously, THIS is what we’ve all been wanting, like since we were born.

I’ve always wanted to make games, but coding makes me want to choke puppies. Here’s the solution, plain and simple. I’ve owned it less than a month and already have 116 hours logged, if that says anything. The developers and community are fantastic as well!

I’d go into more detail, but it’s hard to since you can literally do anything your imagination can come up with, and once you get a feel for it, you can go from an idea to a playable prototype in literally 15 minutes or less. Not only is Modbox a hell of a lot of fun in and of itself, it also shows potential to become a true next-generation game development platform.

I should have reviewed this a while ago, this is just an amazing VR sandbox game/creation/work of art and i look forward to just watching it grow and grow with updates and support from everyone.

With each world you create your mind just goes wild with possibilities of what else you can do. (cant wait for dungeon and ai…and the possibility of room escape games)

This is the 2nd time i bought this game at first i refunded and in all honesty i didnt give it a chance. I still followed it closely though and re bought when the latest update came out with rc cars and much more.

An amazing playground for sound and music synthesis that unfortunately seems to be abandoned, lacking several critical features. Even so, if you have any interest whatsoever in music making, it’s really fun to play around and build contraptions within it.

If you’re into music and sound design you can’t miss this one, think about a VR Reaktor…

devs are active and updates are coming quite fast, they list to the community so thumbs up and full support!

AppGameKit Classic: Easy Game Development

A little background:

I’m a professional developer schooled in C### and Java. I am however not schooled to create games, but I know how the mechanics work. 3D game development is more of a hobby/side-project. Please read my review as such, if you’re completely new to programming, my feeling about this product can greatly differ from your perspective. Most of my pros and cons are subjective. But true in my opinion. Also: I use this product only for 3D development, I have no interest in the 2D side.

I’ve changed my review. I thought about deleting it and posting a whole new review, but then I decided to keep it so TGC’s intentions to make AGK functional on Linux would be documented in the comments. If you would like to see the old review, so you’ll have some context if you read the comments, click here .

Okay, I’ve got better things to do with my time now that AGK on Linux has notably improved, and 2 lengthy reviews is 2 too many, so let’s get down to brass tacks.

thEiAoLoGy

thEiAoLoGy is an Early Access free to play game with VR support. Worked on Win 10, look ok, played bad, sounded ok. It did work somewhat playing it from desktop. Minecraft like graphics.

CONS:

  • Alt + F4 does not work to close this program.

  • It didn’t work at all on my HTC Vive HMD, even though it says HTC Vive support.

  • Has No instructions or clear instructions.

  • Has No Exit button, i had to use Task Manager to End Task it while in VR.

  • Could not Rotate while in desktop.

  • Could not Alt + Tab out of the program window.

Can’t really recommend this game. Seems to be pretty poorly constructed. I’ll try to point out some of the design flaws.

Game crashed and dupped the rig I was working on. I broke the game and I wasn’t even trying

UI is pretty confusing. You can’t tell what is buttons and what isn’t.

Inconsistent UI, i.e. you can sell Eth from the escape menu but have to go into the market to sell BTC.

Outside of the tutorial, which is short, there’s really nothing to do but let money accrue. Might as well be an idle game.

Before I slam this game for all the problems it has, I will say I’d be willing to revisit this after they fix the issues and make some enhancements moving forward.

Pros -

1. Fairly easy to move forward with mining and building

2. Allows one to redesign there room

3. Offers a sandbox environment.

Cons - (there are a lot!)

1. Customer builds never seem to work, After accepting a task, building to spec, placing in customer pickup area …nothing happens.

2. Sometimes buying a rack comes completely assembled
