Dominium Mundi
I only played the game for 5 minutes, but I left the game running for 3 hours as I was doing christmassy stuff with my cats. So in short, I know very little of this game so far. The UI and map are excellent, I’m excited to go back and look at it more. I only took over one single city and explored over half of the map thus far, but it feels good to play.
If you consider yourself a fan of something, you deserve to something something good review.
– Real player with 4.3 hrs in game
Save your money. I like simple strategy games at times when I want to take a break from too much intense thinking, but this is overly basic. You get bored of it after playing once or twice; it looks far more interesting than it truly is. Perhaps prices at $0.99 it may be worth considering - do not spend more than that on it.

Kingdomonium
Kingdomonium is an indie medieval procedurally generated side-scrolling real time strategy game. Build up and command your medieval kingdom to explore and conquer the land. The game at its roots is a real time strategy game with the unique mechanic of playing as a side-scrolling 2D platformer. You play within a procedurally generated sandboxed open world environment which allows activities such as foraging, chopping, digging, mining, building, fishing, sailing, exploring, strategic combat and many more!
So what’s so special about this game?
Most traditional real time strategy games play from a top-down perspective. Kingdomonium plays as a side-scrolling 2D platformer. This combined with the fact that the world you play in is procedurally generated with aspects of destructible terrain makes for some very intriguing and enjoyable gameplay!
What can I do in this game and what is the end goal?
The game allows you to take command of a medieval kingdom. You give orders to various constituent units (some of which are mentiond below) to perform tasks such as foraging, chopping, digging, mining, building, fishing, sailing, exploring and tactical combat. There are many goals in the game but the main overarching one is to expand your kingdom and take over as much land as possible. Other goals include exploration, finding rare items, overcoming various obstacles and enemies and many more.
What commandable characters or units are in the game?
Below are some of the basic units planned in the game. Of course this is only a small sample. There will be many others and advanced versions of these below in the final game!
#### Villager
Villagers are the heartbeat of the kingdom. They perform a multitude of tasks such as wood-cutting, mining, building and crafting. Without them the kingdom cannot function
#### Swordsman
The short swordsman is a staple infantry unit. Although basic they are a formidable force to be reckoned with when commanded in groups for close range melee battle
#### Archer
The archer is another staple infantry unit. They are very effective for planning strategic range attacks and defending the kingdom from higher vantage points and gaurd towers
#### Knight
The knight is a more capable, experienced and equipped infantry unit. They possess a great amount of armour and durability as well as quicker attack times and greater hit-point damage
#### Cavalry
The cavalry are highly durable and effecient combat units. They possess a great amount of stamina and hit-point damage against any opposition as well as having the ability to traverse vast distances quickly
#### Priest
Priests can heal wounded units as well as cast spells against the enemy during battle. In addition to these they also possess further mystical powers yet to be revealed
#### Catapult
The catapult is a basic artillery combat unit. Highly advantageous for launching ranged attacks with large splash damage. Especially useful for destroying buildings and other structures
#### Transport Ship
The transport ship is essential for moving troops, equipment and supplies across sea to neighboring lands

-
Online head-to-head multiplayer.

Simple mechanics and complex strategies.
-
Fast-paced gameplay.

Game Mechanics and Strategy
There are two primary systems: military strength and subterfuge. To grow an empire and win, players must carefully balance both elements. Because a fresh map is created for each game, players also need to adapt their strategies to each new world.
Military strength is represented by Soldiers. They are straightforward and effective, relying on strength of numbers, and are used to take control of the castles that are needed to win. Soldiers combine to form armies, and battles are won by the largest army in a region.
Subterfuge is the domain of Spies. They are more complex than Soldiers, dealing with hidden information, surprise and paranoia. Spies are used to take control of cities, which provide the action points needed to power all activities. They can also turn the tide of battle, assassinate other spies, sabotage castle defenses and more. A spy’s effectiveness is determined by its rank, with the most highly ranked spy in a region having the upper hand. Working from the shadows, spies are hidden and can only be seen by an enemy spy of superior rank.

Age Of Omens
Normally as Things go I will update my reviews, so keep posted if your interested on where the game is kind of at.
So quick things is the game is great, It’s early stage yes, There is however a satisfying amount of area to explore, lots of crafting options, and a rather nice building system, I have played a large sum of games with building, and this one does it very well.
The Dev is constantly updating the game, bringing fixes and new content, It’s single/multi I haven’t actually made a multiplayer game, I am fine being alone….

This developer has big plans for this game and eventually a sequel, so he is not going to cut and run on us like most EA title developers do (I flat out asked him). He is very responsive on discord and takes everything we the players say seriously, I asked for a longer day cycle and he put it in a patch with some other things literally 30 minutes later.
This is an EA title that is worth your time, money and support, I can’t wait to see what more is in store for Age of Omens. Updates and content come at a brisk pace for just one person and he is in the process of hiring more help. Give it a try, I’m so glad I took a chance even after being burned by so many other EA titles.

Battle Brothers
I’m a very picky guy and feel bored playing most of the popular games. This is the single one filling the niche. Absolutely love it. Warning: it’s too addictive; I spent almost 1000 hours of in-game time in six months, more than 6 hours a day on average.
– Real player with 1055.1 hrs in game
Oh Battle Brothers what can I say about you? A hidden gem from 3 years ago, only saw it recently such was the lack of advertisement for it and was truly surprised. Didn’t think games like this were made anymore. This is a medieval low fantasy mercenary management game. Oof what a mouthful. It’s a game where you explore the world map in real time and fight battles in turn based combat xcom style and just like xcom it can seriously mess you up at any time. It’s a game of stacking the odds in your favor while mitigating the adversaries odds as much as possible.

Clanfolk
Clanfolk is an elaborate life sim set in the highlands of medieval Scotland.
Live off the land using historically accurate tools and processes to survive while building a growing settlement for your Clan. Every tile on the map has a purpose. Where you place your settlement, and how you build it, really matters.
Clanfolk will execute your grand building plans while also intelligently fulfilling their own personal needs. Get to know your Clanfolk as they live their entire lives in your care.
The world is fully simulated, and the largest threat is nature itself. Initially, food will be plentiful and the nights warm. There is lots of time to plan and enjoy the medieval homestead atmosphere. As the seasons change, resources will dwindle and careful planning becomes critical. Surviving your first winter is highly unlikely.
Colony Sim
The Clanfolk’s homestead will begin as a wilderness surrounded by mountains, forests, grasslands, and lakes. Over time it may develop into an industrial farm, or a livestock ranch, or a bustling trading post, or a quiet forest Inn, or maybe a hidden mountain fortress.
-
Build sealed structures out of Floor, Wall, and Roof tiles.
-
Structures track lighting, warmth, beauty and various unhappy smells.
-
Windows allow ambient lighting into rooms.
-
Use wall torches and fires to heat, light, and occasionally burn down straw houses.
-
Venting system to allow fire and body heat to travel from room to room.
-
Door locking system to keep Clanfolk, visitors, and livestock where they belong.
-
Storage container objects to keep the ground clutter under control.
-
Crafting can be prioritized, scheduled daily, and also controlled by maintaining a desired supply.
-
Till the land, plant seeds, water them, add fertilizer, harvest, re-till the soil, and start again. All automated to the level you desire
-
Care for livestock from birth. Keep them warm, dry, fed, watered, and clean their stalls.
-
Learn just how hard it was to make a linen shirt. Grow the flax, thresh out the seed, throw the stalks in a river, let them rot for months, strip the loosened fibers from the stalks, spin the fibers into thread, weave the threads into cloth on the loom, and THEN sew your linen shirt!
Life Sim
Clanfolk live their whole lives on the Clan homestead, from birth until death over multiple generations. Clanfolk follow daily schedules, waking up before sunrise, taking their morning meals, washing up, and maybe having a conversations before the day’s work starts. Throughout the day, they will work as hard as their mood and health will allow. In the evening, they finally all come back together to eat, drink, have a chat, maybe play the flute for a while, then off to bed, hopefully a little better off than the day before.
-
Clanfolk needs include: Hunger, Thirst, Sleep, Warmth, Cleanliness, Bathroom, Social, Fun, Beauty, and the inexplicable need for Plaid
-
When needs are not within safe ranges, then afflictions may result. These afflictions can range from having a bad mood, to a cold that slowly deteriorates into pneumonia.
-
Clanfolk have many skills which are improved through use. Skills can be prioritized or disabled to give Clanfolk different job roles to best utilize their skills.
-
Babies inherit some skill proficiency from their parents. They are mostly time vampires, but they are cute and keep everyone’s' mood up (during the day)
-
Babies grow into Juveniles that begin to provide labor. Juveniles are idea sponges, working slowly but learning much faster than adults.
-
When Juveniles become Adults, their learning slows, but Adults finally work at full speed. Ideally, their childhood will have been spent on jobs that they enjoy, making them experts by adulthood. Another benefit of adulthood is the ability to have children to grow the Clan.
-
Eventually Adults become Seniors. Seniors work and move more slowly than Adults, but they have the highest skills and provide learning bonuses to others working near them.
-
Finally the Seniors will be unable to work and will need to be cared for. Clanfolk are able to understand the needs of other Clanfolk and are able to take care of the sick and injured, fulfilling all their needs when possible. Once the Senior dies, they can be buried in the family plot, and the cycle continues.
World Sim
The seasons in Clanfolk never seem long enough. Winter is always approaching and your time needs to be spent wisely. Each Season has ranges of temperature, rain, snow, wind, and even windchill. Some seasons are for growing and others for harvesting. Winter is for staying inside a warm room and processing the materials collected throughout the year.
-
All four seasons have smooth transitions between them, ever advancing and changing each day.
-
Sparks start fires that spread throughout the environment based on moisture and object flammability.
-
Plant growth system that is aware of ground moisture as well as fertility level, which can be changed with watering and fertilizer.
-
Overlays to quickly show fertility, moisture, heat, and beauty.
Neighbor Clans
Visitors will occasionally arrive from neighboring Clans surrounding the homestead. Over time your reputation with these neighbors can grow based on how they are treated as guests, workers, or traders. As your reputation increases with these Clans, contact will strengthen, providing better opportunities.
-
Each neighbor Clan comes from a different Biome with different products and desired items for trade. The savvy player can run a profitable trading post if there is enough trade traffic from different Clans.
-
As seasons progress, different items become more scarce and therefore more expensive.
-
Neighbor clans have intrinsic skill bonuses based on their Clan type as well as their Biome. When looking for the best workers (and potential partners) keep these in mind.
-
Neighbors do not send their best and brightest visitors until relations between the player Clan and the neighbor are strong.
Ruin or Victory
Ruin or Victory is a modern take on the classic RTS genre with added detail, continuity, and strategic depth while remaining accessible and well-paced.
Game modes at release
-
A free-build mode with no opponent and optional tutorial hints. A complete user manual will be accessible in game while paused.
-
A scenario mode against an AI opponent that starts with a base and launches increasingly challenging attacks against the player. Both the map and AI preset will be randomized each game, and difficulty, game length, and other settings will be available.
Features at release
-
Random map generation with different terrain, resources, and starting positions each game. Create your own custom map configuration files to control most parameters of map generation.
-
An AI that does not cheat, but uses all the same mechanics that the player does. The AI will make decisions based only on what it has spotted.
-
An extensive, branching technology tree with new items, buildings, and abstract benefits. Some paths are exclusive to others and offer both advantages and disadvantages that define your strategy and playstyle. The tree starts in the stone age and ends at the early medieval age.
-
An organic population growth system that uses real-time food consumption, death due to starvation, and overcrowding factors. You will have to balance your population’s growth, food production, and military size.
-
Skills for your peasants that are gained from their actions and significantly improve their efficiency. Various crafters make high quality items and are a strategic target, while skilled warriors take time to train but are dangerous in battle.
-
Rally system that allows you to set gather points for peasants and warriors separately and summon them as needed. Collect your idle peasants or rally your troops to their posts with any number of points that you place.
-
Domesticated animals that serve as more efficient farm and transport workers and enable the use of cavalry, but require food and training. Animals can be captured when their previous owners abandon them.
-
Continuity of resources and items presents a new strategy of logistics. All resources gathered and items made are physically present in the game world.
-
Resources must be moved to buildings for construction, can be taken out of the building by disassembling, and are lost when the building burns. Workshops that make items must have resources delivered, and the items must be moved and stored in armories.
-
Buildings and other constructs, such as siege equipment, require humans to operate, and can be captured if abandoned. Buildings captured from the enemy can be looted, burned, or used like your own buildings.
-
Warriors are equipped with custom sets of equipment that you design. Create armored archers or light spearmen to fend of cavalry. Every piece of a warrior’s equipment will impact their speed and combat abilities. Carried items and resources are dropped on death, allowing the victor to loot the battlefield.
All of this detail is scaled to the strategic level. There are no inventory screens or per item management. Stored items and resources, warrior equipment, and item upgrades are managed in any quantity with a few button clicks. Peasants automatically find necessary items and buildings for pickup and drop-off, carrying out their tasks with an individual AI.
Selected humans, animals, and constructs are automatically categorized and sorted, allowing you to select by type, skill, or equipment quickly. An order queuing system allows you to chain orders and display them in the game world.
A clear user interface with customization options, intuitive hotkey navigation, and unlimited map zoom with scalable icons, is presented with original, stylized artwork and font.
Features that will be added after release
-
Multiplayer, including cooperative play in all singleplayer modes, as well as PvP on any random map.
-
A skirmish gamemode in which the AI starts and builds up like the player.
-
Rivers and lakes that divide the map as well as island maps on the open ocean. Gather fish and fight the enemy with warships crewed by your warriors in ranged and boarding engagements.
This list is not exhaustive; support and additional features will continue after release.
