Bloody Trapland 2: Curiosity

Bloody Trapland 2: Curiosity

The “Don’t Escape Trilogy” is a collection of three short first-person point-and-click adventures with static screens (no camera movement, no scrolling). The games share a creepy atmosphere and a few gameplay mechanics, but are otherwise unrelated. In the first game, you play a werewolf trying to lock himself away before a full-moon night, so that he won’t kill anyone when he turns. In the second game, you’re trying to barricade a house and protect yourself from a zombie horde. In the third game, you’re the only surviving crew member on a spaceship and need to stop “something” from getting out.

Even though the entire trilogy is available for free on Armor Games, I chose to purchase this game series on Steam because that’s how amazing ScriptWelder really is. The Deep Sleep and Don’t Escape series were some of the first PC games I ever played, and I have ScriptWelder to thank for making my early experiences so magical. I have followed each and every game you have published on AG, hunted down every achievement, set of choices, and walkthrough I could find… simply, because every single second I spent in any of your games was one of either awe, wonder, fear, or curiosity.

Ball at Work: The Ultimate Speedrun Platformer!

I’ve played 2 Hours today and It barely felt like 30 minutes.. Also I bought a new computer to play this game, well kind of… I bought it because the screen cracked on my old one so I can actually use it. But overall this game is great even if it wasn’t free, that just makes it better.

Sincerely, Wolfy

This is really fun 2D platformer game! i do reccomend you try this game if you havent already, playing through the game dosent take too long but then I found myself sinking several hours into the speedrun option in the game. there is a DLC in this game that allows you to compete against other players times, in a little event, and there is 40 levels to improve your time on.

Deleveled

Deleveled

Got the game for free from a friend’s Humble Bundle + thought I’d just try it out for a laugh because I like puzzles.

Good game, simple layout with retro simplistic touch and no frill level maps.

Fun mechanics: you need to make two opposite balls jump up certain obstacles by using the bounce gained by falling from previous obstacles - and if you lose the bounce due to a false movement you might be stuck. If you still manage to solve the puzzle, you can solve the level but lose the star that would be granted if you make it in one flawless go.

Deleveled has a lot of personality and was a very fun experience. Minimalist puzzle games are my jam and this is one is pretty top-tier.

The concept of pushing all the switches is simple and original, and the levels are designed expertly so that you are not locked into one specific solution or switch order. When I consulted a video walkthrough for some of the levels I found that where I was in the stage was completely different than the walkthrough, which speaks well of the multiple solutions design. There is a moderate amount of platforming in the game, which did get frustrating at times but overall I could tell the developer had fun implementing these solutions and mechanics so it wasn’t that bad.

If speedrunning is your thing, this is the game for you. This Micro-Platformer, similar to “Celeste” is easy to pick up, but hard to master. The controls are fair and accurate (However, you will find yourself getting enraged when you make a mistake). Each world can take up to 25 min, depending on speed, and you’ll find yourself coming back to it to improve your time. The simplicity of each level may lead many to think the game is straightforward, but each level is has a unique challenge that you need to overcome.

Disclaimer: I had beta access to the game

Pros:

-Lots of variety between the different worlds.

-The format of the levels (all in one screen) is easy to learn, but hard to master. At no point will the game feel overwhelming though.

-The length and design of the levels makes it perfect for speed-running, and newcomers to speed-running.

-An already active speed running community.

-Great music that will stay interesting even when you die 100 times.

Maybe pro maybe con, depends on your preferences:

Really interesting puzzle game with nice pixel art and music :) Really enjoyed playing and speedruning this game.

  • The pixel art works really good with the music and it gives the game a nice atmosphere.

  • The game is really polished. I haven’t found any bugs or something game breaking.

  • Really nice sound design :)

  • Pretty fun game with extra levels (I hate those platformer levels it took me so long to complete them :)) ) and pretty challenging at some points.

EDIT: The developer got in touch with me by a response to this review and a private message. Turns out the discussion thread was deleted in good faith, they apparently posted an answer, but deleted it after a little while in an attempt to avoid spoilers, and I just missed seeing it. Respecting that view I won’t share the solution, but level 9 IS PASSABLE. And I now recommend this game- yay! I wouldn’t have thought a bug was a possibility if I had read another review saying they had actually completed the game, so when I do, I will update this review again.

A very fun game, made with a creative approach. The puzzles are just right - not very easy and not too difficult, the available hints also make you think. The game is addictive and coming up with a solution is fun. It is not perfect, we will not find great graphics or other wonders here, simple and pleasant game.

Artificial Entanglement

Artificial Entanglement

Play as a Super AI, in an abandoned robotics lab. Use puzzle solving & platforming skills to progress through the lab. You are being monitored by another Super AI, the lab itself. Unravel the meaning of your existence, accompanied by the voice of the lab. It might be your only friend.

Gain positive or negative charge to interract with the magnets in the level. Magnetize yourself accordingly or you might die!

Also, this works with interactable objects.

Giveaway your active movement to get a small boost and turn into a ball. You will not be able to move like normal, but you can fit through tight spaces.

While a ball you can transfer your momentum directionally up to 3 times. But don’t forget each time you lose a fraction of your momentum.

Use your momentum to break obstacles to get through. Some breakables are tougher so, you will need to build up your speed.

Touch a deadly trap to blow yourself up! Watch your parts fling across the level and spill your oil all over the place.

Color Guys

Color Guys

You have control over two distinct colored guys, one at a time. It’s impossible to tell if they’re the same two guys because their colors change every ten levels. It doesn’t matter, because the plot is practically non-existent. All you know is that a bat appears one day and takes one of your friends with him.

The goal of each puzzle/stage is to bring both guys to a wall of bubbles, usually by working together. The game is set up so that guys can only walk on surfaces that are the same color as them. If the colors do not match, the platform will become transparent, causing the guy to fall through. Spikes, which are harmless to the opposite color, are another thing to be aware of. Crates and white surfaces are the only things that stay solid for both guys. Regardless of their color, these can be stepped on.

Embers of Mirrim

Embers of Mirrim

This is, hands down, the most fun I’ve ever had playing a platformer. The controls are crisp, the mechanics are unique and well thought-out, it’s visually attractive, and the music is great. The single biggest complaint I have about this game is that it’s too short. I finished it in about 5 hours. I would love to have seen the kinds of puzzles they could have put in a longer game.

The difficulty curve isn’t bad. It’s hard enough to be satisfying, but doesn’t get hard so fast that it’s frustrating. There is one puzzle that uses a mechanic that isn’t used anywhere else in the game, and it can be difficult to figure out what the game wants you to do, but other than that, the mechanics have good clarity and the puzzles are fairly intuitive.

I’ve been craving a linear platformer and this really scratched the itch. While I enjoy metroidvanias, I feel like I ’ve been inundated with them of late and I wanted something a little simpler and straightforward, like the NES platformers of yesteryear.

Embers of Mirrim is a very polished puzzle platformer with heavy emphasis on platforming and navigating between sections and light emphasis on puzzle elements. The splitting mechanic adds variety, and the game continues to introduce other small elements to keep the game fresh throughout.
