Dustwind

Dustwind

Let’s start by saying that I really wanted to love this game. I was swayed by nostalgia over Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel but was ultimately confronted with the realization that Dustwind still needs a lot of polish to compete with modern games.

The AI, in general, isn’t anything special which in some cases takes away any bit of immersion you might wanted to experience. Enemies screaming HELP due to low health, but insist on running towards you, or staying completely stationary while being shot at with sniper fire.

I cannot give a positive review of this game. I tryied… but this is getting worse everytime i play on it. I really wanted to love this game.

  • DEAD This game is dead, in all ways. No one plays PvP, no ones play PvE. If you have friends to play with… give it a try but do not expect playing solo.

  • DIFFICULTY The difficulty of this game will make you nuts.. it is hardcore on every map unless you know exact positions of every enemies. It is a TRY HARD game until you finish successfully a mission.

It’s like DayZ mixed with Vanilla WoW. When a player dies, they don’t lose their character which is awesome, giving the game an RPG-feel which many survival games fail to give. Having different unique classes, experience points, skill points and talents also makes this game a bit different from other survival games that I’ve played. Still… bullets hurt and even the highest level players are not invincible gods.

Pros:

  • The game is difficult to the point of frustration at times, making the game hardcore as hell.

I’ve just picked this game up and I’d like to give it a honest review.

To be honest, when I first launched the game, I wasn’t expecting much, given it’s an indie with a very small $14.99 price tag. And boy was I wrong! Considering I am a big Metro / S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fan, from the first moments of gameplay, I felt right at home.

Firstl of all, as someone who’s been to the Ukraine before, I immediately admired the authenticity of post-Soviet era surroundings.

Gameplay felt good and graphics were pretty. Well, almost pretty. The character models and animations looked pretty crappy and unpolished and character creation seemed pretty bad. However, given this game is in its Alpha state, I have good hopes for the developers to introduce better models, animations and a more feature-rich character creator.

Next Day: Survival

Next Day: Survival

When you consider this game is only $10 and is usually on sale for $7 (what I got it for), then I recommend it. Next Day feels a bit unforgiving at first since there’s no real tutorial and the on-screen symbols for hunger and cold are confusing at first (Tip; you can hold your cursor over the symbol and it will give you information). I think the dev’s also made an update that gives you a handgun for the first mission with the wolf so it’s much easier then with the knife. Once you get a little gear built up from looting the neutral camp buildings you can start to venture out. The missions you start with are basic but fun especially with other friends or random players. The faction system is also fun and interesting. I started out with a Civilian helping me out by giving me weapons and gear and helping me with my missions. I eventually killed a Looter and became a Civilian. Then later, I was attacked by a Civilian at the Civ base so him and I went to blows and I accidentally killed him. I was immediately shot by the Civ NPC’s and then respawned at the Looter base and have been a Looter ever since (best faction by the way). I’ve had a lot of fun raiding bunkers and Civ bases either solo or with huge groups. You can max out your inventory quietly by just going to the bunker over and over once you know where all the soldiers are.

Next Day: Survival is a 3rd person survival shooter with a Stalker-esque setting minus the mutants, anomalies and radiation. Next Days environmental hazards are toxic gas clouds that can cover certain parts of the map. The game has some light rpg elements such as the inventory system, skill levels with their passive stat bonuses and the few fetch-this-kill-that quests.

I bought the game bc it was 6 euros and it seemed to have a nice atmosphere, somewhat bringing Stalker to my mind. In that way it did mostly live up to my expectations. It has what youre looking for if you need a quick fix of some slavic postapocalyptic survival faction vs faction action. The gunplay is very arcadey tho and thats one of the biggest problems for me gameplaywise. Theres no bullet drop or anything. Players and NPCs are rendered to only about 150-200m so its impossible to kill anyone beyond that distance, unless youre a hacker. With the Dragunov or PSG-1 you would kinda wanna be able to actually shoot people to the distances they are capable of..not to even talk about the AKMs effective firing range of approx. 50m. From here we get to a different problem: the map is really small, so realistic sniping distances would create pretty big kill zones around the faction HQs. Still I would prefer the distances to be realistic and a bigger map over what we have now.

Post Apocalyptic Mayhem

Post Apocalyptic Mayhem

I should have written a review for this game ages ago. I am completely in awe of this game and I am so addicted to it. I love how the races always seem different even though I may use the same car with their own unique weapons. Every race is so unpredictable and you never know what’s going to happen. This is a good distraction game for me and it makes me feel incredibly happy playing it. I can kill my opponents without the risk of getting arrested! Lol. Great music tracks to each race in the apocalyptic challenge mode as well as various cars with extremely powerful weapons. Some cars are better than others but I like to play with them all to make it even and challenge myself even more. You can play on easy which is not as easy as you would imagine but a good place to start if you are playing it for the first time. I like playing on hard. I love the challenges of the hard mode. What can I say. Good graphics, music, gameplay and interest. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who is interested in buying it. If you like fun and a challenge or 2, then this game is for you. You need to be on the ball and kill your opponents in order to get the most kills if that’s what you like. There is no escape! I would say that it’s sometimes difficult to play in multiplayer if you can’t get any players to join but it’s a good excuse to get your friends to buy it too! Thanks to the developers of PAM, you rock!!

Post Apocalyptic Mayhem has to be the most underrated racing games on Steam. My family and I play this game every week, I liked it so much we have a copy on both accounts. I realized I hadn’t wrote a review for this awesome game and now I will solve this overdue problem. The handling of the cars is easy enough that when my son was three years old he played this and it quickly became his favorite. There are twelve cars to choose from, seven tracks but the Winter Wasteland is just the first track Wasteland with snow. There is single player and multiplayer. In Multiplayer there is ranked and unranked options. In Unranked racing by time or kills is selectable. There are three difficulty levels. The multiplayer is pretty empty but that just means you arrange games with friends and the steam group for this game. Each car has three weapons and has a nitro boost. A front weapon, a side weapon, and a rear weapon. Use the appropriate weapon to attack cars that are near you. To win kills are more important than placing at the end of the race. When driving around the tracks your car can collect barrels of the appropriate color for each weapon by driving through them to collect them then you choose them when cars are near you. For viewing the rear window pressing down lets one peak out the back window to see how close the other cars are. Sadly there is no local co-op but that is okay as there is multiplayer. My son doesn’t like to play multiplayer too often with me as he is five and likes to win, but it is still fun in my opinion. Buy the game you will not be disappointed! If you are hesitant by it on sale and enjoy a wonderful awesome game!

死寂(Deathly Stillness)

死寂(Deathly Stillness)

The gameplay mechanics are extraordinarily solid, not only just for a free game, but for any shooter on steam, really. Movement feels great, shooting mechanics are fantastic, even the zombie movements are really unique and work well with the game. I genuinely have no real complaints, I just have ideas for new additions to the game, like most people here. Larger-scale maps that take more time to complete would be amazing. Campaign would be cool, but maybe you can leave it up to the players to decide the story themselves. I think reddit would have a field day coming up with theories. Multiplayer gamemodes would be super fun. There could be a simple zombie wave gamemode, which is always good to have. You could also have large-scale maps in multiplayer modes too, where a team has to gather supplies from varies places around the city, and the location of those supplies could be randomized each time so that it would be fun every time you play. You could even have massive teams of 10 or more people in a gamemode, the players can choose to work together, or fend for themselves. Some people may ally up with a few people, and run off in a small group or something. It has lot’s of potential. Super fun game!

This game may be very short, but it definitely sets a benchmark on what one man can really achieve in just a few weeks worth of dedication. If he were to hire a couple more artists to map out a pipline, storyboard a plot, model original 3D assets, and give it about a year or two, there’s the potential for this small prototype to become a huge hit. It does put huge AAA studios at shame when they have literal hundreds of staff, and yet can’t even produce quality and optimised products as seen in the past few years. Huge props to the dev and I’m hoping to see more of his projects in the future.

Metal Reaper Online

I like the wasd controls, which let me do strafe firing. Thank god it’s not mouse only movement like diablo. This game is simple/easy but addicting because of the loot mechanics where any mob can drop legendaries(although rare), unlike some other mmos(i’m looking at you Defiance). There are only four classes, however the skillpoints you get are few each level so you must be careful on deciding which skilltree on each class you want to choose. It’s also a game where you need some reflex if you’re going to play some type of class, like sniper.

I waited a little to review this. Got a few hours under my belt of playing so I guess it’s a good time.

What makes this game fun?

-Guns. Lots of guns. For lack of better description, it’s diablo with guns set in a apocalyptic world.

-Unintentional Humor. The poor translating of the game text has caused for some hilarious quotes from NPCs.

-Community. The number of people playing isn’t huge which could be a negative, if it didn’t cause for creating a very tight nit like community where a lot of people know each other and know of each other causing the game to feel more friendly and rewarding to log onto. It’s kind of like that bar in Cheers. You want to go where everybody knows your name.

Survarium

Survarium

It is a huge wall of text yes but all this is comes straight from my heart.

TL:DR? - Disappointment

Survarium, a game that tried to be an “S.T.A.L.K.E.R.” successor that failed to deliver miserably.

You see I played this game a lot, it is one of my most played games, and used to be one of my favorite (the hours i have on steam do not reflect all the time i spent on the game since i was using the non-steam client most of the time).

You see i loved playing this game, especially at the beginning as i was invited to participate in closed beta. With all the features that devs announced back then what this game was supposed to become it was like dream come true because let’s be honest multiplayer aspect of “S.T.A.L.K.E.R.” games is not the best, it’s average at best. They promised so many diverse game modes back then pve, coop, pvp that would branch into multiple game modes to suit everyone’s taste.

Real player with 951.8 hrs in game

As you can see, I’ve have played quite a lot in Survarium. Even more than steam shows, as I’ve been playing it before it had been released on this platform, so u can easily add over 100 hours plus to my total.

Anyway. There’s quite a lot of things I do have to say about this game, but before I’ll go into things that motivate my final opinion - I’d like to state a few things loud and clear first.

There’s a lot of people claiming this game it’s ridden through with cheaters and haxers. It is both true and not. There are cheaters and haxers in this game, there’s no denial to that. But there also is a huge amount of veteran players that have high level characters, full orange gear with great mods and countless hours spent in this game just as I have. And believe me, there’s a huge number of them more skilled than I’m, and we all are just as paranoid about haxers and cheaters as many new players are. The problem is, we know this game through and through. We have tactics, gear and perks to make certain things work. We play (most of us I guess, btw that’s a tip for all the new players out there) on headphones and we’re sensitive to the certain sounds and that’s why we manage to turn around and shoot others in the head as they creep on us. We’ve been playing for long in our dwindling community where the skill cap was going only higher, thus we know how to play and how to play well. That’s the reality, thus not all the talk about haxers and cheaters you might see or read about it’s true. But it isn’t false either, as the .esp users are out there. And there’s even more of them now with the arrival of 0.40 than before. Which is obviously sad and upsetting even more now that the developers refuse to deliver us any kind of anti-cheat system and that cheaters are allowed to keep on playing the game with new accounts. Anyway, a lots of players you see and would want to call a haxer in the moment of rage - aren’t the ones. That’s how things are in survarium, as that’s the game where skill pays off way more than in other games.

SURVIVAL: Postapocalypse Now

SURVIVAL: Postapocalypse Now

Hi there, as you may have already noticed, I have clocked into this game well over 100 hours. I have been playing this game since early development and have seen the many “improvements” that have been made by developers. However, there is one thing that I need to address, one thing that really upsets me about the recent update you made (2 months ago) with starting off each user in a Prison.

Take into consideration the element of simplicity, prior to when you implemented the Prison into the game, the game was simple, me and my friend had a favored area that had a church, several small houses, a wood factory and what looked to be a temple. Roaming around this area, meeting newcomers and inviting them into our journeys or killing them on the spot was the thing that made this game great. But you completely removed that, and it hasn’t been the same since.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME

History of this game as I know it:

Beta: the devs release an open world survival game set in siberia, it is developed to near completion and is a fun game although still has some quirks that need to be worked out.

Summer version: Instead of fixing the game that already exists the devs decide that they want to make a WHOLE NEW GAME that occurs in the summer ( previous game was in winter) so do they take the previous game and reskin the terrain in summer green instead of artic snow? HELL NO they create an ENTIRELY NEW GAME that runs like crap because the whole map is covered with flowers that move in the wind, and devs obviously still havn’t figure out how occlusion works. This version goes over like a lead baloon and in response devs DELETE THE ENTIRE FORUM! then they “re-release” the old version, which still works ok but they don’t fix the bugs that people have known about for ever.
