Casual Challenge Players Club is a very simple, classic arcade style pool game. Remember back in the day when you would go to the local fare with your parents, and you would have the little arcade with the 2P Pusher machines, those mechanical horse racing games, and an assortment of fruit machines and arcade games. Well, you will also remember that there was always super simple pool game arcade machine. Well this is basically like that.

There are 4 game modes, 2 modes for single player and 2 modes for multiplayer.

This is a fun game. I listen to podcasts/youtube on bluetooth headphones while playing and this game keeps me just occupied enough to let my mind wonder. I also do this with eleven table tennis. The stages are very cool, the penguin minigame is fantastic. I generally take in the atmosphere while the computer is hitting the ball as looking down watching can strain the neck. Luckily the environments are awesome. Solid purchase for me and I’m still learning and getting better.

This game is absolutely incredible for a lot of reasons. If you have ever played pool in VR before, then I am sure you have experienced how insanely difficult it is to play accurately without the ability to rest your hands on the table while you take a shot. It seems that this game was born out of that difficulty. For that reason, this game exists perfectly at the intersection of “ridiculous” and “practical.”

There is something completely absurd about standing atop a pool table with a golf putter, but at the same time it feels so natural. It really makes you wonder why a game like this doesn’t exist in real life, outside of VR. This seems like the perfect game to play in the backyard during a cookout or something.

first problem is: you can only position the cue stick with the arrow keys, making it impossible to shoot where you want to. tapping the arrow keys only gives you certain pre arranged clicks spots . the cue stick should be moved by the mouse not the arrow keys! then you can position it exactly where you want it. I had a much better game but lost it and it is no longer made, unfortunately. it was called 3D pool too. VERY FRUSTRATING!

This game has good graphics. I’ve played it for 24 hours. It has a few unfortunate quirks. Only “you” can break unless you purposely foul. In snooker there is no penalty for scratching. Example: If you scratch off a cherry you should get a 4 point substraction from your score. You don’t in this game. If you are playing a three or five game match in snooker on every game after the first one when you pocket a color ball it stays off the table and not replaced on it’s spot. In this instance you can get a foul when pocketing a cherry.

Premium Pool Arena

I was a very keen user of the original version of premium pool and rewared by a free release of this paid version but find it very disappointing!

The original Premium pool was a level playing field but this release is very distorted.

I assume that this distortion becomes apparent to newcomers and they loose interest because there are generally very few online players to play against.

The game is easier for those who have aquired the better cues that can be purchased for real cash or slowly earned by winning tokens - but this is impossible to do against players equipt with the better cues. A dozen or more regular players seem to have been given or have purchased (at over $40) the best “Shadow” cue which not only makes the game easier for those weilding it but also seems to have a spoiling effect on opponents making them miss shots that they would usually make.

Just got the game. So this review isn’t a in depth review. Right now my impression of the game, is that it’s much better than the older Premium Pool game that arent supported anymore. Better graphic, and some more game-modes to choose from. It still needs some (mostly) minor thing fixed. And other things kind of major fix they need to do. I paid 750 coins (virtual money) in order to play in a tournament, but there was no players to challenge or play with. And the game could not make any connection with anybody. So after some time I had to click cancel, but the 750 was not added back to my account. That is a big error in my mind. I wouldnt mind if I had connection with somebody, and in the game I chicken out, then I shouldnt have any refund back to my coin balance. But if there have been no connection, and therefore no tournament, I should get my coins back. Or another solution could be, that the payment of the tournament fist takes place, when the actual game starts in the tournament. Then the connection of players have been established. The idea of you can now get different cues (by tresure or buy) is okay. Even thou I prefer a more balanced game, with same rules for everyone. I also find it silly that the lenght of the time changes with the cue. Time should be the same for all players.

Solid game!

I’ve seen a review that called this a childrens' game. To that, I say “so what?”

This game has enjoyable elements regardless of being an adult, adolescent or child.

This is going to be somewhat of a comprehensive review so bear with me-

Soundtrack:

Great! I think that it very much fits the style of the game.

Interface:

Fantastic. A little goes a long way. All of the options are easily accessible and easy to change- unlike other indie games like phasmophobia, which I also love. Personally, I just like that ability to access the menu whenever needed.

Pool Nation

Pool Nation

  • All Racked Up -

I quite enjoy Pool Nation.

I find something soothing about it.

Of course, I’m an avowed novice (I just loves my crutches), who would rather chat and play, in a more languid sorta way, than be champ. (Though, if by some miracle, I were to become champ, it would be sooo cool.)

I mean, there’s something very gratifying about being on a 6 ball streak, while carrying on a casual conversation, with friends, about the stupid decisions the characters on Walking Dead make.

But, play on any other setting and I’d have to put on my ugly old game face and actually concentrate on each shot, and…well, I don’t wanna.

Right off the bat, one thing that will catch your attention is the variety of game types. Most billiards games like to focus only on either 8- or 9-ball. Those games are here, but they do not stop at that. Along the game, other games like Rotation and Golf are in the mix. With nine different ways currently available with Snooker and Trick coming soon, there are plenty of ways to play.

Another strong point about the game is the controls. Like in any other pool game, being able to control the cue ball is important. Most games simply allow you to aim the ball and adjust the power. Even though most games stop at this, there are more options to offer. By being able to adjust the angle of the cue stick as well as where on the cue ball to aim, it gives the option of doing jump and swerve shots, something most billiard games leave out. Additionally, with a full tutorial teaching how to do all of these moves, it does not take long before they become second nature.

Future Snooker

Future Snooker

Probably my favourite Cornutopia title outside of Flatspace. I’ve owned this off Steam for many years. It’s simple in both design and game play. Future Snooker offers some tactical opportunities for players to stymie opponents, but mostly comes down to a battle to contain errors as one big break from either player will generally win the frame. The soundtrack is beautiful.

Very fun. I like the idea of snooker being played on a circular table. Makes it a bit easier but also more exciting.

International Snooker

International Snooker

I have been playing the game International Snooker 2012 for the past 3 months. This game is really so close to the real thing that is unbelievable. Unfortunately, a lot of flaws still exists in the game. I have found the AI players to lack vision in certain respects, some are programmed to be over 100% which makes them impossible to beat. They can also sometimes make the strangest shot selections and are very limited when snookered close behind another ball.

My biggest criticism of this game lays in the multiplayer. It does not show all the names of players entering and also tend to lose connection at awkard times.

Real player with 331.7 hrs in game

It’s not quite a simulation but it’s lots of fun. Having said that I’m getting breaks just above the 50 mark which is exactly how I fare in the real game. I like the career mode with the easy early rounds and then tough opponents later on. The AI is OK. Let’s face it the computer could play a perfect game every time so it has to be dumbed down, mostly you don’t notice. Sometimes it reminds me of early games with my Dad, when he would throw a few shots so I could get some table time. Cue ball action is a little unpredictable but you can mostly get the position you were aiming for.

This was a surprise hit for both of us. With this game having 4 modes to play and 3 different difficulty levels, this game had enough game play to justify it’s small price tag.

Your typical pool game is played standing around the pool table and leaning over to take your shot. Not this game. You stand on the pool table which is a fresh perspective on the game of billiards.
