Fire Tonight

Fire Tonight

The gameplay is not out of ordinary but it introduces simple new mechanics in every chapter. You try to find your way in a 3D maze and it’s kind of easy.

The story on the other side, is easy going and heart warming with the dialogues and the cutscenes.

It was a very nice short experience overall with all the music and the unusual narrative.

This game is short (about 60 minutes tops) so the price isn’t that bad for what you get. My biggest problem with it is the achievement for “Stroll down memory lane”. There is no checklist to tell you what you are missing from the level so you have to play it and hope you touched everything. Some are saying it is glitched and after 3 hours, I may be inclined to agree with them. I have checked several guides and nothing really tells me what the issue is and why I can’t unlock this achievement. I had a great time with it but definitely feeling a little burned by the experience. Don’t delete me

I’ll preface this by saying I did fall asleep halfway through the game so you should be able to get through it in less than half an hour if you speed run it but I woke up and finished the game after 3hrs roughly lol The music is pleasant but had it mainly switched off since I was listening to Twitch in the background. hehe The drawing style is quirky and there’s a sinister touch to the puzzles. A couple of the puzzles I had to reset to get past them by escaping to the main menu but a minor bug. For the price of less than $2 I think it was worth an afternoon curiosity and to support the creator. Think of the game as an existential pat on the back that you’re doing so well and play it when you need a change to your perspective you never expected.

If you are a parent of a very young child, this is a great game to play with someone in your lap, or just to get young minds moving. A magical and safe game for younger users. The game starts in a dark room. Players click around on semi-lit objects until they notice a bulb shape… it turns on the light! Clicking around more makes a series of things happen until you can find a small cube hidden in each room and maneuver it as a key to opening each exit door.

I first bought this game on a laptop with a touch screen (much like a modern iPad). My children loved exploring a magical world that changed as it was explored. A kind of intriguing “escape the room” type of puzzle surprisingly isn’t too short and keeps the player wanting to explore. My kids and I had a lot of fun solving the rooms.

This is a cute game to play to relax. I bet the kids around would enjoy to play something like this

Graphics: If you’re an adult, then chances are the graphics will bring your childhood back. The look of it is like combining pieces of construction paper, and have it come to life.

Gameplay: The goal of each puzzle is coming across or producing a square that fits in the hole on top of the door, then being able to get your little cart through the door. It’s more of an interactive child’s puzzle that gets harder overtime.

Hamlet or the Last Game without MMORPG Features, Shaders …

Hamlet or [insert words here] certainly lives up to its satire laden title. The game lampoons not only its Shakespearean source material, but also the expected conventions of adventure gaming. Reading scraps of paper will only provide false leads. Multiple interactable objects… sometimes whole areas of the screen… are useless in these lateral thinking-esque exercises. There are some “normal” puzzles, sure, appearing just frequently enough to lull you into believing that the zaniness has stopped, right before you run smack into the next inane situation. But, unfortunately, none of that is actually enjoyable.

What a cute game! First of all the name made me giggle and was the first thing I’ve noticed before the cute artwork. I’ve enjoyed this puzzle Point & Click game which is based on William Shakespeare’s Hamlet with a twist. The story starts off when Claudius killed the king and took the crown, not only that but he forced Ophelia, Hamlet’s girlfriend to marry him. But of course Prince Hamlet will not let the evil man take everything from him, he will avenge the death of his parents and save his girlfriend, however, something fell from the sky and changed the whole story. A new hero appeared and accidentally landed on Hamlet, so he had to take the job instead and save the princess.

ADventure Lib

ADventure Lib

Well, this was a silly game. It basically randomizes items and mixes them up, so instead of a knight, you might be a chicken or butter or what have you. Your spear might actually be other random items. The puzzles are as simple as they get and the whole game wont take but 10 minutes or so to finish for most people. You can play over and over if you like with randomized items, but other than that, there really isn’t a point to playing the game again. I think all told, I would probably give this one a 3 or 4 out of 10. Easy achievements if you care to get them all. I walked past an item that would have given me the two I am missing and I really cant be bothered to go back and grab them, lol. Meh.

ADventure Lib is a very entertaining, funny and short experience.

A Gameplay & Review video showcasing the features I’m about to talk about:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqY4WZ_SvMk

When you start the game, all objects and characters in the world are shuffled with the game’s database of objects.

That means the character you play as could be a potato, and you’re trying to save toilet from a fire-breathing plunger.

The gameplay is incredibly simplistic. You have a “Look” action that gives you a hint what the object is meant to be used for. E.g “This rope is very sharp” so you know to use it as a sword. You also have your primary action which is to use or talk to objects/characters.

All You Can Eat

All You Can Eat

I think this game is worth getting. But it’s not for everyone: it’s an adventure game in the Sierra-on-line (eg Kings Quest) style of game, where you have an inventory and have to click on objects. Fortunately, the game is short, so your inventory is never unwieldy nor are any of the puzzles bizarre. No having to put bat-guano in cannons or anything so counter-intuitive.

Here are the pros:

It is free of any problems or bugs.

There is no way to mess up… the game simply won’t let you use your items in the wrong place.

### An Interactive Comic Book that You Print Out and Color? Yes, Please!

### Introduction

This wonderful little gem, All You Can Eat, is a perfect blend of comic and game. The gameplay is just like any adventure title, complete with inventory, and simple point and click. It centers on our intrepid, but very lazy, main character. He is without a name in the game but in my playthrough, I called him “Bob.” He just seemed like a Bob. He needs to save his favorite all-you-can-eat diner from foreclosure and is forced into the wide world of his neighborhood to do so. The humor is corny and mostly clean (just a few curse words).

Blackwell Convergence

Blackwell Convergence

Blackwell Convergence is the third game in Blackwell series and it continues at the same pace, still being adventure point-n-click. Another solid title of ghost-helping, albeit with removed Notebook combination feature that was making it more unique.

The game still runs on quite old adventure engine, even if it’s updated. It still means that you may encounter small glitches, though… I don’t remember any, unlike Blackwell Legacy. The engine still has this anti-aliasing applied to scaled sprites, ruining pixel-art somewhat, but scaling is rarely used in this part. Pressing Shift+Tab, commonly used for Steam Overlay, will make the game to instaskip all the dialogues, you can fix it by just pressing Tab. No real support for widescreen, but at least image isn’t stretched.

Blackwell Convergence picks up six months after Blackwell Legacy. Rosangela and Joey are still new to working with each other, but a face from Blackwell universe past makes a reappearance in a shocking way.

Gameplay mechanics are a mix of continuing elements introduced in Blackwell Unbound, a twist on features that have been in both previous games, and of course some awesome new components. The player can continue to switch between our two main characters, Rosangela and Joey. Joey’s ‘blow’ ability is an added skill to the repertoire players can utilize when playing as him. The player can still type when searching for additional information, but since we’re now in the computer age, Rosangela has access to the ‘Oogle’ search engine rather than just the phone book like her Aunt Lauren. In addition, Rosangela also has access to email (which provides some fun easter egg references from previous Wadjet Eye games)! Although Rosangela still has a clue notebook (which Joey can also now access), the mechanic of combining/linking clues to further the story was removed in this game.

I was so excited to see this game. A quirky indie, visually clever, eccentric point and click adventure game released by Daedalic; Sign me right the f██ up!!amirite! I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into. It took me some time to get to it because there were no achievements, and you know…life, but finally found it on sale and gobbled it up having no more petty excuses like how iwll i find fire for my children to cook with. Needless to say, I was saddened to play through it, the art and graphics of Slovomir (the terminator) Baca, Michal (the squirrel) Dudlak, and Peter (the other kind of Batman) Zacharov were what drew me in to watch the trailer. Combined with BH Sound & Visual’s music I was left helpless to do nothing less than throw my money at the screan and consume like a good little automaton. Ultimately though, at best, they could only make the shortfalls of Stefan NItkulinec, their bowl cut robot and writer (note which gets top billing), tollerable enough to just barely continue playing through to the end.

Enjoyable story but definitely unchallenging.

What would you do to save your friend? That is the question asked in Gomo, where a greedy alien kidnaps your dog and demands that you retrieve a mystical crystal artifact within two hours, or else.

The game is a short (can easily be finished in a sitting), stylistic adventure that has some interesting features, but ultimately its brevity and lack of challenge keep its charms from being lasting ones. I got the same feelings as Old Man’s Journey… I love the art and the way the whole game is hand-drawing. But, nothing more.

Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock

Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock

Short but maturely written and well executed adventure in a Sci-Fi setting (just how I like it) almost without any drawbacks.

Backgrounds are static but very well drawn images with points of interests reasonably highlighted. Game does this in a special, non-intrusive way I haven’t seen before but it works so there is not much pixel-hunting. Puzzles are all logical (some too much so and not in an easy way) but if you get stuck there is a built-in hint system in a way of radio communication with your injured side-kick. Doesn’t even feel like you are using hints and that’s a good thing.

Ever thought of having a ship crash on a random isolated planet and then find a way to get out of it, preferably safe and sound? Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock (M:DtD) is your dream come true. Not only does it have some nice small puzzles, but it also offers the player an entertaining experience.

DIVINATION

DIVINATION

This game disturbs me a little bit and I love it for that. I guess I should call it a visual novel because the only real thing you do is decide how to arrange the runes your patrons select, but even that little act can be a quite an experience depending on how into it you can get. What could this rune mean, what order do they actually go in, can I actually reverse the fortune by moving this one?

It’s very short (like 20 minutes tops) to go through a single time and the English text could use a bit touching up in a few spots, but for the cost of a soda or candy bar I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys the genre.

This is a very short game with only 4 characters but each divination change the outcome whoch makes the story very interesting. After the first round, you can use the flowchart to pick the options you decide and see the result, I do encourage you to not necessarily focus on the 100% chaos but to try to see how each result has an impact with the ending.

The 100% Chaos ending is really interesting, it reminded me a LOT of Chobits (not the animated version) as the plots turns a lot around the fact the robots don’t have the choice to live or to die.
