Alum reminds me of my impressions of The Chronicles of Narnia. When a teenager, I was quite excited about the series until I read some critics. Then my reaction was like, “What?! This wonderful lion, Aslan, is no more than old boring Jesus? Oh no!” However, Alum’s creators aren’t as subtle as C. S. Lewis; their approach is more like that of Superbook.

You play as a member of religiously driven anarcho-primitivist gang of those who use terror as a way to convince people and would destroy the city’s central heating system just to make people “think out of a box” and “understand things wider” (?!). The Rogations (that’s their name, but it probably should be The Rogues) blame their contemporaries (modern people) that they live in industrialized society and can no longer be guided by “faith” as it were in the Middle Ages; if so, Middle Ages should be returned artificially. Does it remind you some, so to say, not very good people (from the real world)?!

Quest: Escape Room

Quest: Escape Room

I got this for less than a dollar and although there are some errors within the game, it was a charming experience.

The environment and light backstory were great with many little puzzles hidden all throughout the game. These light puzzles although simple at times gave a slight brain teaser for a fun experience, the largest difficulty for me was the absolute last puzzle and the clunky controls. I believe I had struggled for 35 or so minutes to figure that last puzzle out, but you’ll see why it’s a challenge. ;) The game itself once you’re aware of how everything works and where things are at can be completed quite quickly, but expect roughly an hour of game time for you to complete your first play through.

Very below par. A couple of mildly interesting maths puzzles.. i guess… controlling movement with mouse was awkward. If u buy this you will be getting about an hour of game play total.. and NEVER want to play it again.

– Review written for 3 Point Play

A pretty small, pretty chill, little game about living some sort of after-life which most weebs know of, that is, the isekai resurrection thing. Featuring some cutesy pixel graphics and easy mechanics, I think this particular game here can be appealing to anyone who enjoys anime and is not that much into gaming, since, once again, everything is pretty much entry-level mechanic-wise: you click people to interact, you click objects to collect materials, you move in a standard fashion with the WASD keys, and you do your combat stuff with WASD + Enter.

DarkFighter

The game is fun but you get all your items by mid chapter 2 and from that point it’s just about repeating the same combo over and over and over again. I got bored of it by chapter 4 but according to the steam page there is a total of 7 chapters which I find to be a bit strange because I have already nearly maxed out my character.

Real player with 4.2 hrs in game

Not a bad little time waster, everything works fine and fair character builds. The movement maps are hexes that have creatures to battle to get to portals for next tile set. Using back stab tactics when moving to enter a fight is good tactics, and decent skills are available and planing attacks in battle can be fun.

Quiver Dick’s Terrible Tale For Terrible Parents To Read To Their Equally Terrible Children

Quiver Dick’s Terrible Tale For Terrible Parents To Read To Their Equally Terrible Children

When I first saw the preview for Quiver Dick’s (hehehehh well played steam…) Terrible Tale For Terrible Parents to Read To Their Equally Terrible Children, I knew I needed to play it. This game has dark humour, hilarity, a thirsty fairy, awesome music and is dripping in both in-your-face smut and innuendos.

This game is so well put together with incredible art throughout and has the capability of three different possible endings. There are easter eggs as well as nods to music, film and video games throughout with the game clearly being self aware.

First off, if you read the title you already know what kind of game this going to be, and if you already know what kind of game this is going to be your expectations will be high…this game does not disappoint. Off the rip in the opening credits I was enjoying a Monty Python feel (which for me is always a belly laugh kinda experience). The names in the game, the dialogue, the situations encountered..everything about this game felt like it was directly tailored to my idea of humor. The game in and of itself is well made, crisp, and nostalgic in its craft. The laughs will come a plenty and it actually has replay value (which for me as a completionist is awesome). Highly recommend this game for streamers who want to have a good time with their chat and go on a comedy filled journey that will have a lot of “lol’s” “wtf’s” and “LMFAO’S”. Well done Crankagegames…well done.

For Evelyn

For Evelyn

For Evelyn is a story-rich game that captivates you with impressive voice acting, a light skill system, characters with personality, beautiful artwork, an enjoyable soundtrack, fun side quests, several maps & towns, an emotional & interesting story as well as lore that you can collect and reread.

Real player with 11.0 hrs in game

For Evelyn is a beautiful and emotional story with amazing style. The pixel graphics and sprites are perfectly done. Overall the story is very captivating.

Here are a few feedback notes for the Developer:

There were a few times where I became frustrated with unclear tasks/objectives.

There were a few glitches (I caught some NPCs walking through walls) but none of them effected the game-play.

Some NPCs do clothing wise look out of place. While I understand that these were cameos, I do believe that the clothing could have been altered better to match the main cast.

Inflatable doll

Inflatable doll

It’s a great game. It’s very nice. Perfect for playing alone at home. Although it’s a casual game, it’s not simple. It’s a test of reaction ability and hand speed. Every time I just click on the Red Square, it changes color.

If you have the dream of e-sports, don’t hesitate to start!

Corpse Party: Book of Shadows

Corpse Party: Book of Shadows

I’ve finally achieved 100% completion, so it’s time to give an honest no-spoiler review for Corpse Party: Book of Shadows.

This game was very different from its predecessor. Corpse Party: Book of Shadows plays like a visual novel with a point and click adventure style of game play. At first, it took some getting used to since the first game was an RPG Horror game, but thankfully it didn’t take too long. The more chapters I played and the more I explored within said chapters, the more I began to realize this game’s change in game play was likely done on purpose. After all, looking back on all of it, this style definitely better fit the narrative Makoto Kedouin (creator of Corpse Party) was trying to show this time around. Allow me to explain.

Real player with 53.9 hrs in game

Okay so, a little backstory.

I’ve played Corpse Party as a general series since the Back to School edition came out a few years ago on the 3DS.

Read: Not that long.

However, I adore this series. I used the PSP version of this game, Book of Shadows, to help me practice my Japanese when I was in college. I know– weird flex, but okay. It was something I could get into, so I focused more on what I was reading. Perhaps because of that, BoS happens to be one of my favorite games in this series. I love the extra care taken with each level, the Darkening mechanic, and the backstory that kind of fills in some gaps from the original while also creating a new timeline of events that eventually proceed into the plot of Blood Drive, which comes after this one.

Detective Kobayashi - A Visual Novel

Detective Kobayashi - A Visual Novel

First of all, I am really fan of this type of games, for example Phoenix Wright, The Room, Danganronpa … So my review will have of some comparisons with those games.I will give my opinion about some themes that I consider important:

GRAPHICS:Anime style, they are good and you can remember many characters for having such a unique style.Maps are fine too. For me this is 7/10:They are Okey

MUSIC:This is not quite right for me.Some soundtracks listen when they finish and it is not very pleasant because it takes you a bit of experience to hear the same song starting, ending, empty space, starting …However the songs are not bad so 5/10

Real player with 32.9 hrs in game

As a huge Phoenix Wright fan, I had craved a similar game in quite some time, and I had to play Detective Kobayashi. It looks good on a PC screen, the character designs and backgrounds are very pretty. The first stories are not too hard to figure out, but the main fun is the gags and dialogue. I play with the voice volume turned off, since I’m used to this type of game without voiceover, just with silly faces and upbeat music. And because I like to imagine what the characters sound like.

Apart from the detective main story, an extremely fun minigame is texting random people on the phone and talking to them about various topics. It does not influence the cases as far as I can tell, but it is neat world building and learning to know the main character. The conversations are different in each chapter, so I make sure to activate them all right at the beginning.
