Neon is a great game with some challenging maps. However, it is very short. It took me only 50 minutes to finish the game. The level menu could be improved. Some might enjoy it. Score: 7/10.

Really cool game, felt more challenged every level that I passed. Great learning curve and also loved the puzzles and inspiring phrases.

Totally worth it and the fact that you don’t have to worry about price makes it even better.

Obstacles - short casual game - cookie cutter = This is probably a game for children. Some of their other titles are more interesting. Felt like another cookie cutter game with 100 levels.

Unsweet

Unsweet

The story of Unsweet unfolds in the fairy-tale world of living sweets, where the protagonist who has lost his memory goes in search of his own past in an addictive adventure full of friendship, hardship, palace plots and secret experiments. In his journey, the main character will meet unimaginably strong opponents, deadly traps, cunning riddles and insurmountable obstacles.

  • You have to go around miles of sweet land studying their history

  • One of the few cinematic platformers on the market

  • Levels will be teeming with chocolate coins, for which you can buy new skins, cheats and much more …

  • Malicious enemies will stand in the way of an unarmed hero

  • Do quests and get bonuses for them

  • Battles with bosses at Kojima level or even higher

  • Worked plot, characters and character design

Soundtrack

The dynamic soundtrack will make you more than fully experience the sometimes creepy Unsweet atmosphere. Each musical theme is written with a thrill to what is happening on the screen. Each melody will complement the already living characters with their own theme.

Sugar Cube: Bittersweet Factory

Sugar Cube: Bittersweet Factory

Sugar Cube: Bittersweet Factory is a friendly and colorful puzzle-platformer where the player plays a walking sugar cube navigating through various confectionary manufacturing plants. Like many puzzlers the theme is largely irrelevant as it resolves around an abstract concept anyway.

I only played this game for about 30 minutes before I essentially made up my mind so perhaps my review is inaccurate. I usually give a game a little longer before a review but I had some core issues with the game that I didn’t see changing anytime soon.

TLDR: Pixelated when fullscreened. Gimmicky. Nearby tiles flip around protag which changes scenery. Chaos ensues as you clumsily move around trying to capitalize on that. Clunky and lacks flow.

Looks a bit pixelated when fullscreened. Xbox360 pad works correctly. Relies on gimmick where the whole screen is hexes that flip over if they are within your hitbox. Flipped tiles reveal platforms to solve platforming challenges. The controls are fine but the tile flipping feels frantic and chaotic. It is hard to accurately control what you flip when and where and leverage that. So you kind of just go towards the semi visible platforms and twitch jump around them to reveal and jump. However do it too much and you might reflip the tile by accident causing you to miss the platform. See what I mean? There are twitch reaction sections and monsters to avoid as well… When you put all these together with a grating audio score and you get a fairly disappointing experience. Removed for declutter.

TY the Tasmanian Tiger

TY the Tasmanian Tiger

TL;DR

It’s an amazing blast from-the-past from the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era of 3D Platformers. Very charming, with solid (but easy) platforming, great music, and with some good graphical and camera improvements.

Positives:

  • A classic brought back from the dead! This game is (considered by me and others) a classic from the PS2 era!

  • It’s a solid platformer! Nice tight controls, nothing to horribly hard, and good level design!

  • Quirky characters! From Shazza, to Maurie, to even Ty himself! They all have there own personality and, sometimes they are even funny! (Especially Maurie!) Boss Cass is a legendary villain in my eyes!

Real player with 29.6 hrs in game

Ty The Tasmanian Tiger is essentially a 3D platformer in the style of classics like Super mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Crash Bandicoot and Croc, just to name a few. The game clearly takes inspiration of those and even wears some of the design decisions on its sleeve. Ofcourse there is absolutely nothing wrong with that when its done well.

And well they did!

Let’s look at the pros and cons!

Pros:

–—–

  • Fun and varied gameplay

  • Great and fitting soundtrack for each individual level

  • Cute characters and simple story

Fossil Echo

Fossil Echo

See written review below or watch it here: https://youtu.be/VB5QmKE2Dz8

TL;DR: SKIP TO CONCLUSION!

Fossil Echo is a challenging, story driven platformer that often requires quick reflexes, and good timing.

You play as a boy on a quest to climb a massive tower. The story is short, but I was immediately interested in finding out what happened right after the first cutscene. After reaching the end of the story though, I did wish there was more. While the ending makes sense, it felt like I didn’t quite get the full closure that I was hoping for.

Real player with 4.9 hrs in game

So I’ve beaten fossil echo a few times now, and I have to say, this is a fantastic game! After playing the demo so much at MomoCon, I was very excited for this game’s release, but I also feared that it wouldn’t live up to my expectations. Yet, the full game blew me away. The art, music, and gameplay all gave a unique and powerful feeling that the game tried to portray through the short scenes in between each area: a lone boy off to find out about a mysterious clan of ninjas. The game wasn’t all super serious though, and at times offered comedic relief after difficult parts. The music in the scene where the boy climbs the ladder and sees all the phases of the moon as a glass mosaic on the wall brought chills to my spine, and the simplicity, yet detail of the artwork made the world feel alive. I’m a bit sad that the game is so short, but this allows for easy replayability, and a game you can play and finish if you don’t have much time on your hands. The challenge rooms that you had the option to complete were all fun, yet challenging, and escalated in difficulty as the game progressed, while also teaching intrinsic game mechanics that helped me later. I really, and I mean really, love playing this game. I would recommend it to anyone who likes platformers: no gimmicks, just pure platforming fun. It’s definitely worth the $15 cost, and honestly, it gives way more than I’d expect from a $15 game. There were some parts that I felt were things I couldn’t help though. After you jump, and if you are in the air too long, you are no longer able to grab onto walls, and so if you jump too early, you can just slide off the wall you are trying to jump onto. Also, if your entire body doesn’t make contact with a wally, you slide right off. Yet, those are just a few nitpicks I have, and overall, it is a great game. I give this game a solid 9/10.

Main story runs about 8-10 hours depending on skill level, however there is replay ability to obtain gold stars for each map which will take another 10-12 hours to fully complete.

This game is extremely difficult, not for those looking for an easy challenge, some levels will drain hours of your time, but finishing them is very rewarding.

Bosses are super fun and feel awesome to fight, each level feels unique and has something to make it stand out from the others with new enemies or hazards.

Roll The World

Roll The World

I’ve really liked platformer games for a while and came across this game. It was initially hard to get used to rotating and jumping at the same time, but once you figure it out it becomes a lot of fun! I spent a lot of time going after the energy tokens too, although some were too challenging for me. However, it was still a fun and rewarding game to play. I would recommend this game to anyone into platformer games!

I love this game! Roll The World is a 2D platformer that gives you the unique ability to rotate the screen to solve your way throughout it’s crazy universe. The game mechanics are easy to learn, but once you think you have them mastered, a new level will make you question your gaming skills. Roll The World includes hilarious dialog, fun meta jokes, and music that makes you want to dance in your computer chair! I highly recommend this game!
