STLD Redux: Episode 02
Survivor: The Living Dead is an incomplete game with too high a price (at least for what it offers today …)
NO Options , no support for the gamepad, no resolution or even full HD (16:9)
In terms of gameplay I found it a bit slow .. In short, today I have to give him a vote NEGATIVE, but I’m curious to see the full game so he can re-evaluate the review.

A very well rounded action game that gets better as you learn your way around.
Your first playthrough will be confusing. You will die quickly. But you will pick up the game again and again and after numerous tries master the house and feel the joy of surviving the 7 minute mode…only to find out you have to beat 12 minutes now.
This is an “old school” game in the sense that it is unforgiving, difficult, but very fun to master. You will die because of one slip up, you will die because of unlucky timing, you will die because you lost focus. But you will also feel great after executing an awesome combo, you will feel great after setting fire to dozen zombies at once, you will feel great when you get an S-rank on all levels.

502’s Arcade
502’s Arcade is an anthology of fast paced arcade games where your goal is to reach the top of the leaderboards in each one. The games go from a dungeon crawler set in a procedural generated temple where you have to seal spirits, to a cute but challenging puzzle where you have to prepare the orders of a very hectic potions shop. Come and get that good old feeling of competition you got when going to the arcade, or just have fun and challenge yourself by trying to get all the achievements for each game.
-
TIMELESS ACTION - The games are designed to be engaging right from the start, it’s up to you if you want to play for just a few minutes or maybe a few hours!
-
HIGH REPLAYABILITY - Master all of the games at your own pace, some will be easier, some will be harder, but practice will take you far. You’ll also get plenty of achievements to challenge yourself while at it!
-
PAST MEETS PRESENT - Bringing you back to that feeling of being just a few points away of the top score, but now with Daily, Weekly and All time leaderboards, you have a reason to keep coming back to try to best others and yourself.
-
AWESOME SOUNDTRACK - Whether you’re fighting frantically with some aliens or comfortably solving some puzzles, each game has the perfect music for it.

Steredenn
Yes, get it.
Some thoughts on it:
Steredenn is not infinite per se (Ala Rick Henderson, though I have not played that yet), as each run goes for a set number of stages if you can handle it.
Graphically the game is quite clever with the graphical design; it is super consistent. The sprites are inda bulky, but lends to improved visibility. The bullet patterns are never too tight that they cannot be manuverd plus the combination of enemy waves and bulltet patterns will always pose an interesting challenge to sort out.. The ships do have a tiny hit box, it is clearly shown at the beginning of the stage, a small reticule around your ships zooms in into the cockpit, clearly indicating the weak spot. Quite clever. The game has a cool way of displaying vital info on the sihp itself. Like the light that traverses your ship to indicate reloading times. Playing without the HUD is almost entirely possible.

Most of the time when I start a new game, I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what to expect from it. Once in a while though, you can really be caught off guard and surprised. Steredenn is one of those games that surprised me, and fortunately it was a good one. It is a game that combines an old genre with a clever twist to produce something fresh and fun.
At its core, Steredenn is a horizontal shoot ‘em up. Many shmups require large amounts of memorization in order to be successful. Steredenn alters that idea by having semi-randomly generated stages. It works well, and the end result is that no two runs will be exactly the same. Not only are the stages randomly generated, but so are the upgrades and weapon drops. There are also hazards that may appear such as asteroid fields, meteor showers, laser rain, and more. Initially it can be very difficult to dodge some things. I recall seeing a few waves that I thought were impossible to dodge, but upon further practice I was able to solve them as if they were puzzles.

Speed Limit
Speed Limit is a fun arcade action game, where the perspective of the gameplay and the gameplay style itself changes every 2 levels. It’s framed as what is essentially a non-stop action movie setpiece, where if you die, then the footage is rewound, and you are placed at the last checkpoint. The controls for each gameplay style are very responsive, and the different gameplay styles are all fun to play. I think the Pseudo-3D motorcycle sections are my favorite, because of the sense of speed, and the music during those parts is great. All the pixel art in the game is well done, and very detailed. The death animations and Pseudo-3D effects are of especial note. The sound effects are good, and the music is fast paced and fits the fast gameplay very well. The game is $12CDN, and I think that’s a fair price for what you get. You get the game of course, the artbook which has some really interesting insights and tidbits into the game’s development, as well as the soundtrack. There are quite a few achievements, and some of them are really challenging. It took me roughly 7 hours to 100% the game and get all the achievements. You can tell this game was made with care, and the developers really appreciated the games of the era that the game pays homage to.

“Crash. Test… DUMMY!”
Here’s The Thing:
You are Bruce Willis but err, due to budget constraints…!! Hmm. Ahhh, you’re a washed-up action star who- no, that ain’t it either… You’re an untrained passenger on your way to going about your hipster life.
Suddenly, some SWAT team and or Secret Servicemen (because come on…) bust in on you and you’re a patsy of some sort!! So, like any reasonable law-abiding citizen, you come into a fully stocked pistol, and thus begins your unwilling joyride of awesome stunts and equally epic on-screen (and off) deaths~

GLADIUM
Hey! If you enjoy short and sweet reviews, follow my curator page here! I am an independent Curator providing reviews and insights to the games that need the spotlight! Thank you! :)
Gladium is the project of Eirik Wiklund a one man developer studio and yes, the game reminded me of Domina , a strategy game where you took charge of a Ludus, training and preparing Gladiators in a management approach, where the fights were simulated. Both games enjoy the pixel art style and that’s where the comparison should end.

This is quite a difficult game to review tbh. It is a very unforgiving game, some of the bosses you will fight will kill you many times, the part that some people may dislike the most is it’s grind system to be able to defeat the bosses or even try another go at them (you gain blood points to trade for perks and for another chance at a boss if you fail), meaning that if you lose to a boss you will have to play either normal mode or horde mode to try again, making the game VERY repetitive. You will also earn gold to unlock new equipment, which is necessary to try different strategies as you cannot fight all the bosses in the same manner (at least I advise againts it). Ultimately I’m giving it a thumbs up because I had fun the whole 14 hours I played and I even got a little addicted, the theme helped as I really like gladiator style fighting games, but be warned, if you get frustrated easily this may not be for you.

Mayhem Masters
Mayhem Masters is a great take on Bomberman style play, featuring tried and true gameplay mixed with fresh ideas. The game is super easy to pick up for anyone at any skill level, only requiring that you can move around and hit a button to drop bombs. What sets it apart is the various tweaks that can be made to the game settings. You can play rounds in a huge variety of ways by changing how blocks work, allowing or disallowing certain items, and choosing between a solid variety of maps. My personal favorite feature is the between-round store, where you can use coins you’ve accrued to purchase upgrades to give you an edge. This is definitely a must-have for your couch co-op collection, try it at your next party!
