Gold Rush! Classic
Classic Sierra Adventure Games;
So, that intro from the beginning makes me sigh from the inside. These games (for me) are memories of growing up and sitting on my father’s knee and learning about computers…(the next step involved constructing my own PC from scratch, but that’s a different story for a different time)
Sierra INVENTED the adventure genre as far as I’m concerned, and “Gold Rush” is not only an excellent example of a classic adventure game, it is also the benchmark for self-involved concepts as well as being true to life history.

This game can be super annoying if you don’t know what to expect. Part of it is the primitive mechanics. It’s not like today’s point and click game where you click on a location and the character will move there. You have to use your arrow keys to direct every step of the movement. You also have to instruct the character what to do. Encountering another character will not automatically trigger conversation. You have to tell your character to ‘talk’ by typing this in. If you don’t type in the correct series of words, this will also halt your progress. And last but not least, there is potential to fall into a big hole in this game. Let’s say you did not pick up a certain something on level one, well if you don’t have it at level 10, you can forget finishing this game … Still, there is a lot of charm to this game with its graphics and story plot. I recommend it on sale. I would also like to play the updated anniversary edition.

Dot Dash Dot
The good: Nice soundtrack, sound design, feels responsive. Fun game
Feedback:
Switching between the channels is a pain, say you’re on one and need to go to four, you need to click 3 times to cycle there instead of just clicking the number, that’s annoying. it’s a fun game
The second level was very overwhelming and too fast of a jump in difficulty, after finishing one message on any channel one would immediately reappear and it’s too hard to manage. I’m a ham radio operator in real life and do real morse code often at 40~ wpm, and even this was too fast for me.

Crowalt: Traces of the Lost Colony - Prologue
Beautiful, creative game. I had fun playing, I’ve been following the team for a while, I’m sure the game will improve.
Sounds are really professional, I would even buy some of them to listen all day long.
In my hands our main character would definitely get pneumonia.
Also we won’t get along with the eagle in the main menu of the game, when I try to pet his head, he is turning his head :( … maybe he is trying to tell me something… maybe we will see that in the next episode… I’m very excited.

Interesting enough, it has the potential to be a solid point-and-click adventure game if the story’s done proper. There are a few issues though, mainly the grammar. There are a good number of grammatical errors. Misspellings, (not mentioning the pirates), odd spacing between letters, even a line of dialogue where an S is on the wrong word where it was meant to be at the end of the previous word.
I’m not trying to sound like a grammar freak, it’s just since text is the main way the game communicates with the player, it’s gotta be solid for it to stick. It honestly feels like they ran the text through Google Translate, or maybe a less experienced translator working on the English text?

Rot Gut
6.2/10 - 1920’s Mafia Pixel Platformer with Elements of Noir
I had fun with this game, but I got it for free prior to the finalization of the game I assume since the release now says July 16. I received the game from an unknown friend*, they made a point to say they weren’t affiliated with the developer but I have my suspicions, especially since I played it over a month ago… Regardless, it was fun!
The game is a pretty simple Pixel/Platformer shooter. You must traverse 7 stages using only a few guns of choice; certain guns are more effective against different enemies so don’t get too attached to a single weapon. You will be taking down the mafia in this short but sweet game; it took me about 35 minutes to complete it. So at $2, be aware of the game’s length, but if you like platformers I think you’ll dig this.

The game is balanced in difficulty almost perfectly (for me at least). Others may find this game too easy I found it just challenging enough.
-
This is Top 5 in terms of action platformers I’ve played on Steam so far. Just so you know where I’m coming from some other great ones are DuckTales Remastered, Metal Slug (Series), Mutant Mudds Deluxe, & Tiny Barbarian DX.

Rot Gut could’ve used controller support.
Bottom line this game is worth the time it takes to play and the price being asked.

Blood of Darkness
Initially I expected more, but considering the cost of the game - I can say for sure that this is a pretty good choice of indie games if you are a fan of this genre.
If you’re not a fan of the genre - you can’t understand the game, but you won’t be dissatisfied, that’s for sure.

Of course, there are some bugs with textures, something like this, but the game is new and I think that developers will do everything to avoid the appearance of bugs for their players. Moreover, please add multiplayer game mode - it will be much more funny to play this game with friends.
Talking about the game personally - As for 2D shooter this game is really excellent, specific atmosphere, big attention to all details, many options.
It’s a real HARDCORE, as the game is very dynamic, permanent enemies and fights.

The Leeds Devil
Trapped in the Barrens, No Way Out
You’ve traveled to the Barrens after receiving a letter from a cyptozoologist uncle of yours - an uncle that died ten years ago. As you journey into the depths of the woods the road seems to shift, diverging from your maps; the trees come close, then closer still.
Before you can get your bearings something tears out of the darkness overhead, sending you careening off the road. When you awaken, you no longer recognize your surroundings.
Now, injured and alone, you must find your way through the Pine Barrens while the forest’s strangest denizens have begun to awaken. Will you make your way back to civilization? Or will you join the ranks of the spirits and creatures that linger eternally in the backwoods?
Amongst The Trees Creep Beasts and Ghouls
There are no shortage of strange and unusual creatures and entities in the Pine Barrens - whether it be the ghosts of sacrificed children or the hulking creatures summoned by long-dead witches. Beware. On the night of the Harvest Moon, the spirits are anything but charitable…

A Golden Wake
I tried to like this I really did, it has a lot of things I like, sadly it is spoilt by a plodding plot and puzzles/games that range from stupidly simple games of fetch to ridiculously unintuitive “action” sequences.
I’m a big fan of most of Wadjet Games work, I was also interested in the 1920’s setting and the idea of a game based around a real estate salesman, not something you come across every day. Simple point and click mechanics I like and the first part seemed fine, if a little uninspiring, it is only an introduction after all. Head south for part 2 and you think things are picking up, the “fetch” missions get broken up by a couple of neat logic puzzles.

A Golden Wake isn’t going to top any of my favorites lists but it’s also not among the worst. It’s kind of in between. It’s a good game but, not a great game.
The graphics are retro pixel style graphics common to Point & Click games from the 80’s-90’s. For the style they did a fairly good job with the graphics. The sprites are fairly decent and easily differentiated from each other. The animations are pretty good, mostly smooth and simple and there’s actually quite a few unique animations and transitions for a game this size. The backgrounds were nicely designed and we’re actually modeled after real places. The characters were largely modeled after real people too.

Crossing Guard Joe
Experience the thrills and spills of being a crossing guard in this action arcade game! Step into the working man’s boots of Crossing Guard Joe as he battles the combined forces of angry motorists and bureaucratic red tape.
-
The gameplay requires hands-on action and quick thinking. The drivers of Monoxide City have no respect for traffic laws, pedestrians, common decency, or YOU. They won’t stop for anything so you’ll need to be quick on your feet and able to make snap-decisions to safely shepard all the kids across the street.
-
The easy-to-learn 4-button control scheme is intuitive even to casual players. But the challenge of the levels ramp up steadily. Easy to pick up, hard to master.
-
Besides angry motorists you’ll also have to contend with the bureaucrats down at city hall hitting you with ever more strict rules regarding how many kids are allowed to get pancaked on a given day.
-
5 days a week for 5 weeks. As you progress through the 25 level campaign you will face ever-worsening traffic conditions and environmental hazards. You start the game off with nothing but your trusty stop-sign and your pointing-arm, but as you progress you might find helpful objects, like barriers and traffic lights.
-
Your score is determined by speed, crossing-combos, and of course how many kids you manage to get across the street. Refine your strategy for each level for better scores and reach for the top spot on the online leaderboards.
Good luck out there, Joe. The kids of Monoxide City are counting on YOU!
