Primal Light
EDIT AFTER COMPLETION BELOW
–—————————————————————-
So far this game is a lot of fun. Working smoothly on low spec computer with youtube and other programs running in the background. Dev is active in discord if you’re interested. I will update review upon completion (if possible since i sssssuck).
I’m not big on platformers but the art style here drew me in. Every stage is a marvel,
! fair warning before you hit third stage boss, that hallway startled me.

Deep Madness
In Deep Madness you jump deeper and deeper oh yes and even deeper. Spikes on the edge make it difficult for you. Can you dodge the spikes and go deeper than your friends?
● Infinite platforms
● 30+ badass skins
● All the time same music
● Jump down as far as you can
● Leaderboard
Oh yeah and don’t forget:
YOU CAN COLLECT COINS AND YOU CAN DIE!!!! Attention the game can be addictive. You run the risk of starting over again and again to beat the one highscore, over and over again. If you also notice this addiction it is already too late. Just keep playing. Believe me, this is the best for all of us.

Goblin and Coins
If you grew up playing classic platformers, you’ll feel right at home in Goblins and Coins. Don’t be fooled by its ‘cute’ aesthetic, it’s actually really quite challenging. I definitely recommend playing with a controller for this. On a great note though, the controls feel really tight. You’ll need that precision since the game amps up in difficulty over the course of its 5 worlds. I consider myself pretty decent at platformers and honestly I’m not sure if I’ll be able to complete this one on Old School difficulty, where if you die, you restart over from the very beginning. Luckily there’s a casual difficulty where you only have to restart that level if you lose all your health. Even on casual, some levels you may find yourself repeating multiple times just to get through. Each world ends with a boss fight, usually centered around a new mechanic introduced during that world. There’s a lot of content here for only 2 dollars.

It’s a nice little platformer, but sadly it felt like an average game to me. I mean, it works, it doesn’t crash, it has unconventional story, it has smooth controls. But it’s missing the feature which could make it a gem or excellent game. The camera could be a bit smoother, the speed of game could be a bit slower (though you quickly get used to it). Some sounds are funny and most of them feel appropriate. Music is ok. At the moment of writing this review, I didn’t finish the whole game yet (stopped just at the end of world 4, world 5 is the last one). I might update this review after I finish the game, but I doubt it will change much.

Rising - Hungry Lizard
Have Courage, Have Rage
Rising is a survival game in 8bit pixel art which will ultimately comprise multiple episodes, each one being autonomous and depicting a unique story, through the game, a la Another World (Eric Chahi). Set in nature, inspired by various trips in Brazil, Africa, India, France, Japan or Turkey, each episode will tell the quest for life of a living form on earth or beyond.
Episode #1 : Hungry Lizard
Play a lizard aiming to survive in a dangerous natural world. The lizard can eat butterflies and worms but has to prevent parrots’ attacks. He can hide, stop his movements and choose to eat his prey at the most precise moment. A satiety bar forces him to consistently eat preys. You only use the directional pad of the keyboard to navigate through the map, but the physic is precise and the lizard can move freely and stick on walls or trees to find the ideal path for his quest. It’s a cruel world and each action has to be chosen within the right moment of significance. Dedicate yourself entirely to sacrificing the flux of time for the right moment.
Hungry Lizard is a haiku
Life consists of rare, isolated moments of the greatest significance, and of innumerably many intervals, during which at best the silhouettes of those moments hover about us. Hungry Lizard consciously evokes the presence by the absence, with its pixel art graphics and sound design elegantly blended into a Zen, minimal and spatial floating world.
Truth lies in one single moment
Hungry Lizard is an arcade game and must be played as such. You can play Hungry Lizard slowly, and actually make a better score in staying in the first zone. You can optimize each movement. You don’t need to see the ending even though the game has a beautiful one. The concept is to continue playing, short or long runs, few or many points, the beauty is there nonetheless. You will eventually die. You can restart the game or let it run for itself and take a breath, enjoy the graphics, the music, the physic, because it runs for itself marvelously. Each death is different and demands a moment of recollection and contemplation. Time is therefore dedicated to seeing and experiencing.
What is essential is the isolated moment and not what comes before and after.
In Hungry Lizard, it feels like we are seeing the world for the first time. Everything is so beautiful all at once. From so many angles.

– Real player with 1.6 hrs in game
A game about a slime who has had enough of the hero establishment harvesting their friends, family and themselves for petty aristocratic gains, who themselves has been failed by an inadequate feudal system unable to protect them. You navigate through a system that’s seemingly designed to be hazardous to you and other forms of life, no-one knows why there are spikes all over the human’s home or other seeming inefficiencies in their system but those questions must be asked later as you escape them.
