Pirates of Black Cove

Pirates of Black Cove

Do I recommend this? undecided.. first few missions, weird and stupidly easy.. pirate clan missions are like a “tutorial” phase.. Buccaneer clan missions are a bit more entertaining, at least until you need to defeat the Kraken, then it becomes impossible! cant do any damage unless you’re RIGHT on TOP of the tents, which kill you within 4 hits (and seeing as there are four tents, you’re F’ed.). you want a decent ship?? save up EVERY LITTLE F’ING piece of eight to buy a ship at 5000 in pirate clan, 4500 in buccaneer clan, and haven’t seen the corsair clan yet.. but decent stats, however you wont have any money left for upgrades! if you build up your starter ship, sure it could survive 90% of ship battles, but any ships WORTH the hassle kill you in 2 shots, are faster than you, and don’t get slowed down after taking heavy damage as EVERY OTHER POS ship you fight.. this game is basically a grinder game.. hit tons of POS ships, collect thousands of gold, and HOPE you survive the impossible Kraken fight! PS: the Kraken fight seems to happen too soon in the “story”.. SHOULD be closer to the last few missions, i think..

I remember getting this because I was looking for a game similar to Sid Meier’s Pirates!

While I felt this game didn’t offer a lot, I still enjoyed it and played it till the end.

The game is fun and easy to pick up, and as long as you go into it knowing they are not being serious (at all) you can enjoy it without to much cringing. (Mr. P….)

The things that I can only comment about are:

Captain Quickdraw - OMG his voice was painful.

Skills - Apparently the hero units had them. I think I only really ever used them in the beginning, once or twice perhaps.

Archipelago

first off, absolutely recommend to anyone looking for an exciting, action packed, story rich rpg that never stops to suprise you. i dont want to ruin this fabulous roler coaster but the character development is on par with that of the witcher III if i had to play one game for the rest of my life, it would be this because of the vast open world experience. I honestly dont know why this game is so cheap i would easily have paid $100 for a game this deep

10/10 cannot understand

Archipelago is a strategy game in which you take control of four pirates on a quest for treasure. After the first few levels, the game becomes progressively more challenging: new enemies, new weapons,

! skeletons with TNT. All in all it’s a fun little strategy game that exceeded my expectations.

Pros:

  • good level design

  • variety of enemies

  • challenging but fun

  • great price

Cons:

  • TNT is OP

  • English version has many nonsensical sentences

Aye Aye, Captain

This game needs a tutorial or something. I have no clue what to do. I moved my crew around by right clicking and then clicked the cannonball to shoot, and that’s pretty much it. I never actually won a combat because it felt like it was going to take a half hour of simply clicking one button. So I surrendered. Then on the world map I had no idea what to do but a few seconds later I was in another combat and lost my cannon. So I lose?

Then in another battle both my crew died, but I was able to surrender and sail around again until I got into combat and could do nothing.

Like chess, but involving pirates on an interactive board. Turn based, but such a shame there’s no online multiplayer option - you can play one additional player on your LAN though.

Was hoping was a decent pirate-theme strategy puzzler, but instead I got an iPad port of pirate-themed mini-games on a strategy world map. Disappointing and overall boring.

2105-05-16 Capcom sale.

I gambled the 99 cents and I’m playing the tutorial now. It installed despite the warnings in the older reviews. You need to copy the Serial key Steam gives you and type in a CD key that appears right on the opening page. Duh, stupid and archaic DRM but no problem.

Like the Store page says, it’s Single Player only on PC now. The old reviews are right about GameSpy dying and Google doesn’t find anyone who picked up the multiplayer fumble. If you search for yourself, you might find references to an Android mobile version but I only found an Apple AppStore advertisement that says “Currently only available on iOS.” Apparently, console versions exist or existed but I only have a PC to play on.

The game works for me. Steam should give you a 16-digit alpha-numeric code when you purchase. Put that in the Securom (grey pop up) box in the blank line. Don’t worry about the other long code (25 or 30 chars), it’s generated by them to verify the game. After successfully going through this process once, you should be good. It won’t happen every time you launch.

The Gamespy servers are off, so there’s no multiplayer, leaderboards, or map generator, which does suck, but you’ll be able to get a dollar’s worth from the 21 pre-built scenarios.

Did you watch the video?

Before you click add to cart watch it again because that is quite literally the entire game. This game would have been cutting edge in 1995. Sadly it is about 20 years late. I give them props for trying but this game simply does not deliver. Buy it when it is on sale under $1 because it is barely worth that.

The joys of bad programming/translation

I got a few hours into it and suddenly it crashed out of nowhere. I loaded it up again and when I tried to load a game it just said leerer slot (empty slot in English). I selected the English option at load but who cares if the entire game is in English? Everyone knows German, right? Of course an empty slot didn’t load either and crashed the game. Pfft, who would want an auto save? Or simple logic not to load a null game? That is way to much work. If you get more than a few hours into the game it is already over, what the hell are you still playing for?

I was wanting to play a game like this, but some Mother Fucking asshole did not make this game right. On the Main Building I was trying to upgrade to lvl 3 and the resources to upgrade is 96 wood, stone was around 50 or something and tools 32. Also on Main Building shows your limits and my limit was 80 resource to all items. I was stuck trying to find a way to somehow get 96 wood or pass 80 from my limit, I build double or triple of every building to see to pass the resource limit and also send my pirate ship out to raid and I had no luck. Now spending my money on these Idiot’s Really Fucken Robbed me of my money and yes, I should of look at other peeps reviews. I don’t know how steam works or lets these Fuckers sell there fuck up shit that don’t work. Steam you need to test there game before you sell there stuff because this is ripping people off. People who made Pirate’s Life take those bastards out and not let them sell there shit again.

Braveland Pirate

Braveland Pirate

Braveland Pirate is the third and last game of the Braveland trilogy. The three storylines aren’t related, so you can play them in any order. However, I would recommend to play them as they are supposed to be ( Braveland = Wizard = Pirate ). Keep the best for the end : Pirate is, in my opinion, the most entertaining and enjoyable game of the series.

I really enjoyed the first braveland, I skipped the second one after hearing it sucked and then I decided to give the third one a chance seeing how it got positive receiption here on Steam.

You should take this recommendation as somewhere between a half recommend and a full recommend.

So here we go for the pros and cons.

  • Pro

  • The new pirate units you get all have different abilities from the units from the first game, giving the combat a new coat of paint from the first game.

  • Open world. Instead of having to play battles in a certain order you’re more open to choose a different battle instead.

Commander: Conquest of the Americas

This game is fun but become complicated after some hours of playing, overall its a great game for all the trading possibility and the sea batlles.

Easy to handle but hard to master, and once you are well expanded it could give you headache to set trading route and manage all your colony.

A lots of detailled ships, possibility to have lots of fleet for trading or batlle and possibility to set some automated trading road, exactly like you want them.

Nice graphic both on the map and during sea battle.

I’ve given this game a bit of time in campaign mode with the advisors. I’ve been playing in difficult mode. It’s a very frustrating and poorly designed game and I don’t recommend it. Here’s why.

The Starting Phase

You settle a colony or two. Then trade back and forwards to your home port. That’s it for an hour or more. Very slow. Once you start producing second tier goods, you start producing more cash and can do more than just keep up with you advisors' demands.

The Advisors

They regularly give you demands. If you don’t meet them, your reputation goes down - and in the end, you get replaced. The demands are not well timed (eg. they will ask you to settle a colony when you are well below the minimum population threshhold for your next colony). Sometimes they are impossible (eg. they ask you to send 50 soldiers to a colony that is less than 50 below the maximum limit). Sometimes they are contradictory (eg. you are at war and one advisor demands you make peace and another demands you take a colony or destroy enemy ships). As you progress and get your colonies going well with all the buildings they need, the advisors are left with fewer things to demand of you and so you get more of these impossible demands.
