Mutiny Island
This game could be so much better. I have warped to grey screen death countless times. I camped while being attacked by a skeleton, woke up on Davy Jones' ship surrounded by the undead, and glitched to the starting warp. Jumped through many stone walls diagonally, and fought tigers from vantage point because of it. In my short time with this piece i have seen so many classic mishaps that that in itself is making me appreciate it more.
It’s $8, buggy as hell and absolutely wonderful.

Abandon Ship

It’s… Okay.
A lot of it is very comfortable fun. You find yourself a combat, you watch your little micro managed crew and you snot your enemy. It’s fun in a non challenging sense. You buy 6 crew as quickly as possible, keep them alive with a bit of micro management and use the play style that amuses you most at the time. Simple really. Learning curve is a bit steep at the start but flattens out after a few combats.
The rest of the game at this stage of it’s release? Yeah…

So the first major update hit, Treasures of the Deep, it wasn’t as big of a shift as compared to pre-release builds versus the first EA build. The update itself is not an expansion per say, but more of a refinement to what we already had, aside the two new mechanics that count, you could say that there are more, but it boils down to just two major ones(more on that later).

Choice of the Pirate
Hello and thanks for reading my review. I have been a fan of ‘choose your own adventure’ since the early 1980s when there was little else to do but watch all 3 channels on TV, listen to the radio or play Atari. For those who don’t know there is a whole line of ‘choose your own adventure’ books out there and can be enjoyed again and again just like this game! There is more than one story and more than one way to win – but then again there is more than one way to fail and lose. BUT that is the fun of it! Finding out what was around that corner or behind that door you didn’t try to open the first time. I bought a whole set of books for my oldest son for Christmas the year he turned 9 just as I was when I first discovered them. He now has his own Steam account and has played this game and loves it just as much as I did.

I am glad this game is so cheap as I would have been much more salty about how short it was. I’d advise anyone from purchasing unless they were looking for something different to play. Choice of the Pirate is a game centered around your choices you make in the storyline that ultimately effects the plot in the end… I had a lot of fun choosing and reminding myself to be wary of what I choose… but I gotta say that some of the choices I made didn’t really seem to bite me in the ass in the end at all. I never heard that character at all ever again after that choice I had made, and I was really expecting them to come back later on and try to stab me in the back for it. It didn’t happen though, which was disappointing. I liked being able to pick out my signature clothing as a pirate, however that “choice” seemed to be purely asthetic… I created my own piece of clothing and I expected the game to sorta “substitute” my choice within the conversation when it came to that point but it never happened. A lot of the characters in the game are meaningless and you won’t really need to remember their names since you’ll only interact with them two different times out of the whole playthrough. The “love interest” really isn’t interesting. After hooking up the relationship really isn’t brought back up in the story at all until the epilogue in the ending. Another thing, the whole “pirate king” title barer is a mystery…. but…. it’s not… the story makes it painfully obvious from the very beginning who the pirate king really is..

Sea Dogs
Yes it’s old, but it places its emphasis in sea battles on sailing and strategy. You can’t just load guns in 3 seconds and then switch from solid balls to grapeshot without going through another reload. Turn rate and speed are crucial to monitor. And the story line is fun, too.

Fascinating game. It was great years ago, and I finished it again with great pleasure nowadays. And that’s not a call of nostalgia. There are many old games which didn’t age well, but I can’t say such a thing about this one. Yes, it’s graphics will not impress you these days and some gameplay mechanics are rather old. But the game brings an enthralling non linear story, great music and atmosphere as well as interesting albeit little clunky gameplay.
The game is 20 years old, but it has unique walkthrough for 4 different nations and unique dialogs for all characters, not just secondary ones, but even unimportant ones. For example, there is no copy-cat tavern keepers or store owners with standard phrases. Each one has his own character, story or even quest. And a word about quests. There is no copy-paste quests as well. Each one is unique and there is a lot of them. Believe or not, but it is the only game where I still remember the names of most of the characters after so many years.

Blood and Gold: Caribbean!
Tl&dr: whatever you expect from this game (M&B battle style, trading), search for it somewhere else, it is not difficult to find something better.
Mount & Blade engine, extended trading system, naval combat, main story… sounds perfect, what could go wrong? These were my thoughts when I bought this game and I got my answer very quick.. too quick. Everything can go wrong.
Honestly, it feels like someone took Mount & Blade, Sid Meier’s Pirates and Port Royale, stripped all the good parts from all these games and then mashed them together.

Ok, so my review is basically a bug list that needs fixing from the devs:
Crashes when trying to retreat during special missions. Being able to see the battle play out is ok, but your maps often mess up the pathing, and then it can take forever. There’s no way back to the menu screen then.
Not being able to control your men during special missions. If you ask me to do a 31 v 31 skirmish with native gear against armed enemies, then letting me use the basic mount and blade commands would be nice

Sea Dogs: City of Abandoned Ships
This is the perfect pirates game. i spent years trying to play this game but my computers never allowed me. now i have had the chance to fully play this game i have to say it has given me hour of fun. do you want to be a merchant and become the wealthiest man in the Caribbean and trade your way to power, or become a privateer and attack your nations foes and bring riches and glory to your nation or do you want to be a feared pirate who will attack anything on sight for wealth and reputation and be the most fearsome man in the Caribbean sea. THE CHOICE IS YOURS. I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!

This game is not “good.” It has an extremely high learning curve, no tutorial, a clunky interface, poorly laid out and unintuitive quest objectives, sub-par writing, semi-frequent crashes, and is heavily dependent on the community “Combined Mod” to smooth out its rough edges.
That said, it is the best pure Pirate RPG available. But that probably says more about the gaping hole that exists in the market and less about this game itself. Aside from the brief but very welcome tangent that the Assassin’s Creed franchise took with Black Flag we have not seen a good single player pirate RPG in a long time; probably since Sid Meier’s Pirates. So if you need your pirate fix and are willing to take the time to learn this game, then you will be satisfied. But I can’t help but wonder why we haven’t seen a better Pirate game made.

I’ve never really been one for the Visual Novels. I get bored with constantly clicking through the dull, voiceless, text window. Watching the same character sprites pop in and out on screen.
But the Pirate’s Fate is a bright and welcome change, both visually and creativly, imo.
The Pirate’s Fate is a Visual Novel with player driven outcomes ranging from character interactions to romantic endings. So no single game is ever the same. There are parts of the story that will result in a bad endings and others where you will lose members of your party. It breaks my heart everytime one of them dies :C I keep trying to find ways too keep them all alive. Also you can have lesbian romances, so yeah pirate girl and girl cuddles and even, yes you guessed it, KISSING. blush

Gameplay
Create your character using advanced character editor. Choose body type, skin color and facial features, replace limbs with prostheses, add scars and tattoos.
Play alone, team up with your friends or mysterious strangers in the tavern. You can assign roles, but besides that, each player chooses his own character class, with its unique features.
You can buy a ready-made ship at the shipyard or build your ship by yourself. Choose a ship class, materials; place guns and other parts of the vessel where you want. Decorate cabins, choose the shape of the bow figure and style of the ship, paint the sails and raise the flag.
The combat system contains: melee and long - ranged weapons; blocking and rolling moves. Each weapon feels different and has different stats depending on the type of weapon and ammunition. You can put a variety of skins on your weapon, ranging from a rusty pistol to a golden rifle with precious stones.
Board enemy ships, plunder merchant ships and destroy entire fleets. Set as many cannons as you can, load the cannons with anything you want, from forks and spoons to cursed cannonballs. Throw grappling hooks and get into battles.
Guide your journey by the sun and stars, they will help you unravel the mysteries. Look for treasures using maps or by solving riddles from legends. However, if you do not want to search for treasures, you can rob caravans or unite in alliances with other players for large-scale expeditions and robberies.
