Collisions
Actually, this is my second attempt to write a review of Collisions. Not that it’s so difficult, but I needed some time to think.
How unfortunate that as humans we are only able to grasp a concept through comparisons, games perhaps being a more extreme example of that limitation. But to compare based on the most superficial aspects is just ridiculous. Those who see Collisions on the Store Page, then immediately think “Limbo” clearly got no further than a quick glance. Those saying “NightSky” are perhaps a bit closer to the mark, but still quite a ways off way off. (Actually, I’ve yet to finish either of those two games. Collisions is much easier, considerably more inexpensive.)

I am extremely on the fence about whether or not to recommend this game. Ultimately it comes down to a yes because the core gameplay, the timing puzzles, are good and fun and what you’re here for. My problem lies with the rest of the game.
Having finished NightSky some time prior, I came upon the image of a ball I had to move around in a single-screen puzzlescapes. The game was Collisions, and I finished it at the time. It was a fun, worthwhile little game, though not quite as good as NightSky, but still good. Then I promptly forgot about it until I checked my games and the achievement counters, and noticed that after getting all the achievements there were at the time, an update had seen fit to include several more.

Puzzling Peaks EXE
AppSir has developed a series that has many games under its belt. They have continually proved again and again that there is far more to their games than it seems, by connecting each and every one of them.
The rest of the games on steam have been platformers, this one changes things up by being more of a puzzle game that sort of resembles golf. This change doesn’t some out of nowhere however, the story explains just how and why the change was made. While I do prefer the gameplay of the dere.exe games, this one makes up for the simple gameplay just with the story it tells. As usual this game is incredibly story and lore rich for the series and I love it.

Deep Under the Sky
In the undiscovered recesses of a faraway planet, beautiful and strange organisms live and breathe in a psychedelic Venusian world of dancing lights and metroid-like organisms. Similarly psychedelic to the visual style of the game is the soundtrack, with its equally as trippy and ambient qualities that build up and evolve with each successful move you make.
Deep Under the Sky uses a one-button control system that while incredibly easy to use is surprisingly deep in execution. The objective of each gorgeously organic stage is to fertilize each glowing plant with the debris from the exploded amoeba-like jellyfish that release from the base you control. As simple as that sounds reaching each carefully placed plant and spreading your pieces far enough to fertilize them will be a matter of careful aiming and finesse as you surpass each obstacle and navigate each twist and turn of the maze-like passageways.

The only reason I am not recommending Deep Under the Sky on Steam is due to how poorly it was ported over from a mobile system. It can be played with a single finger on a single button and, when it’s cooperating, the uncomplicated play style is suited to that equally simplistic control scheme. The trajectory of the jellyfish-spore creature is locked from the start of the level and the tools used to alter its path, as well as the order they can be used, are predetermined as well. Despite a small difficulty spike at the end, even getting the optional hidden stars isn’t made to be a challenge. Everything’s so relaxed and smooth that I was inclined to play through the entire game in a single sitting. Furthermore the visual style, though not quite stunning, isn’t as cluttered as some screenshots make it look.
