Very cool game. The art is simple, but the levels are quite challenging.

Into the Dangerous World I Leapt

This is one of those games that I wish Steam had a rating for in the middle. I definitely don’t think that it deserves a thumbs down, though. The game itself is very odd and trippy to say the very least. I really enjoyed that aspect and some of the graphics were surprisingly really well done (such as the meat in the meat room). The story was pretty simple and didn’t really go much in-depth, although the player can get the gist of what’s happening and why. I did like the premise of it. I wasn’t really that much of a fan of the ending, though with how weird the game got, I’m not quite sure what I was expecting.

So…I’m sort of on the fence here. The world is surreal and weird…and I like that. The puzzles aren’t exactly difficult…they’re more of the “backtrack to take an item you found to somewhere else” type deal. Not the end of the world…not great either. Visuals are great for the most part.

I did unfortunately encounter a game-ending bug. The main mechanic here is jumping between two alternate worlds. When I did so, I got caught up in some furniture and couldn’t move. When I jumped back to reposition…I was now stuck there in furniture as well. With no save points and no way to reset your position…I would’ve had to restart.

Cargo! The Quest for Gravity

Cargo! The Quest for Gravity

This game is ludicrously fun and quirky. Absolutely nothing in this game is resemblance of logic and common sense and the game is sure to make you laugh all through the ending credits due to sheer nonsensical characters and environments being infused. It’s certainly a much less complex game in terms of mechanics and is no where near as difficult to complete, except for few glitches I have noticed here and there that is the only thing I didn’t like. You control a female protagonist while the central theme and everything , even for you to progress in the game revolves around Buddies ! Buddies were designed to be replacements for Humans after the world was remade. They’re the small, naked men that run around the islands. Buddies are the only known source of FUN and you’ll be using them to accumulate that important substance. A group of three buddies playing musical instruments will greet you shortly after you begin the game. Known collectively as ‘The Band’, they give you some guidance throughout the game along with occasionally bizarre pieces of insight. By walking up behind a Buddy, you can give them a swift kick to the backside. Contrary to what you might think, the Buddies actually love it! Kicking them will send them flying and produce small quantities of FUN. If you kick Buddies too many times, they’ll start floating up into the sky and explode! Luckily, they’re not dead. By throwing bits of debris into the Sinkhole, new Buddies will be born from the volcano. You can also bring items from earth’s stratosphere to make dear gravity centered all across your sandbox in which you are playing game from absolutely nowhere out of skies such as Iceberg, Ship, Big Ben, Skyscraper, UFO, Statue of Liberty, Train, Earth Axis, Collider, Comet. You’ll enjoy Cargo much more if you just relax and have a good time. There’s no time constraints, enemies, or anything else stressful to worry about. Experiment with vehicles, try new things, enjoy it, and have FUN!

Cargo is great! It’s a very quirky and funny physics builder/driving game, by the makers of Pathologic.

If you feel like building a car, a submarine, a hot air balloon, an helicopter and driving it around to your own music (or the game’s pretty cool OST) as the game world around you feels more and more like a fever dream, Cargo is probably for you!

Works flawlessy without the slightest adjustment on Win10 in 2021 which is notable for a 10 year old game.

If you are familiar with Ice Pick Lodge, you should know most of their games have been designed starting from the idea that “games don’t have to be fun to be good”. This leads to the birth of Pathologic 1 & 2, one of the most important creative works in the video game medium.

Eggy

Eggy

If this game ended after The end? Level I would have given it a good review but it doesn’t. The game ends after Vulcano which is a poorly designed hell compared to the rest of the game. It’s like going from easy to expert. It took me 6 hours to casually make it to the last level but since then I have spent 14 hours trying to complete Vulcano with no luck.

I just fully completed the game and I can definitely say: it was absolutely worth my time, effort and money. Eggy is a fantastic 2D-platformer with intriguing physics, stunning environments and a lot of creativity.

The game can be frustrating at times, but unlike games such as Getting Over It, Eggy does have checkpoints. Everytime you make it to another checkpoint after a hard section, you feel satisfied and motivated to continue playing.

The game also truly rewards creativity. While there always is a path available to go, thinking out of the box can occasionally work in your favor and reward you with a shortcut or secret.

The Bridge

The Bridge

The Bridge is a 2D puzzle game with beautiful Escher-like architecture and level design, hand-drawn black-and-white art and its own laws of physics. It is divided into 48 levels with the first half requiring minimal use of logic and feeling like somewhat of a pushover; fortunately, this is mostly remedied in the second half—a mirrored version of the first with additional obstacles thrown in and where a greater number of puzzles actually make you think.

The puzzles start off easily enough, with simple gravity manipulation and key collection, then introduce additional elements consistently: deadly balls which roll as you rotate the environment and can adhere to their own laws of gravity; points which invert gravity and shift you between black and white dimensions where you may only interact with objects matching your current color; vortexes which suck anything near them into place and hold them there until deactivated; mirror images of yourself which require entering multiple doors or picking up multiple keys simultaneously to progress; and gravity curtains, where you may remain stationary while rotating the world to work objects into their desired positions relative to your own.

Let me start by saying that The Bridge is not a bad game. For an indie game the developers should be proud of what they’ve accomplished. If there were a somewhere-between-thumbs-up-and-thumbs-down button this is the game I would most want to use it for.

I leaned on the side of not recommending it though, for several reasons. This game is inevitably compared to Braid because it has an artsy style, time manipulation, and puzzles. But it’s nowhere near the level of those other puzzle games I love, including Braid or Limbo or even Master Reboot. The reason is mostly depth and story. There simply isn’t that much here. And what does exist is far too obscure and limited to be moving.

Incredipede

Incredipede

You might be looking at this game and thinking “Wow, that’s one unique game!”, but the most unique aspect of this game is that the achievements ask you to do things in the real world.

This game wants you to go outside and explore your own backyard. It wants you to look closely at the insects and plants that you probably haven’t looked at since you were very young kids.

That is amazing.

I recommend taking a break to do an achievement anytime you get stuck on a level, and then go back to laughing out loud at the acrobatics of your creature.

Real player with 4.5 hrs in game

This is the exact definition of incrediphillia. One of the best indie games on steam without a doubt. There are no physic engine based games that can compare to Incredipede. I’m sure most of you have played some sort of flash game some place where the whole point is to create some sort of contraption, building, or any kind of construct. What I think makes this stand apart from the rest is the mere fact you create a simple character with odd physics, like some sort of construct, with movable parts. You are really only limited to your own imagination. You can create pretty gnarly stuff and get through the various levels. The game itself has some replayability as well. The game allows you to do the levels on Easy, which gives you a premade design to finish the levels, and then you have the Hard mode, which starts you off with the base of the character Quozzle, which is just her round eye. By the way, when you finish the game, don’t fret. There is a level editor included in the game. You can create some fun levels and you can share them with your friends as well. I really can’t think of any negative things the game has. It is a pretty solid title, and I believe the price is just right for such a game. With that I say, whatever you do this Summer, it won’t be as fun as Incredipede. All bugs wish they could have as many limbs as the gal in this game. Every purchase of this game helps fund research for limb growth of bugs, so open those wallets to make their life easier.

Radium 2

Radium 2

This game deserves to be hyped! I’m really not exaggerating when I say - and I said it before when I was playing Radium - that this game is more than a worthy ‘replacement’ for Super Meat Boy! I went for 3 points (A+ in SMB ;) on all levels and can say that the overall difficulty level is at least close to the same as in Super Meat Boy. Patience & carefulness is needed a lot of the time, but the tractor beams are capable of accelerating the ball very quickly, so be extra careful and focused and use your tapping skills; spikes & saws are all at the place! I think that the Pareto principle maybe goes up here (nice progression in difficulty): the 20% hardest levels = 80% of the amount of deaths and vice versa.

Note: I have a lot of hours booked on this because my card idler got “stuck” on it. I got the game in a bundle.

Radium 2 (the sequel to Radium) is a simplistic skill/puzzle game where you direct a ball using only left and right controls.

The game completely masters the “easy to play, difficult to master” aspect of game design and the developer should be applauded for this. Personally I found the game to be a little frustrating, and the minimalist graphics in 2017 put the game towards the back of the pack in an era where games like Warframe and so on are completely free.

This is a great game, especially with the new multiplayer addition, but the multiplayer is terrible buggy. I randomly get thrown 1000 miles in the air, I get soft locked, I fall through floors into an endless void unable to do anything, and all sorts of other fun stuff like that. Its a great game but please, Pillow Castle, fix the multiplayer.

10/10 holy god this was an experience. probably my favorite game like this. Second play through and it still felt like I was playing it for the first time. I can’t believe how innovative this game is and I would 1000% recommend this to anyone. Amazing job to the developers, the voice actors, and especially the music. Absolutely worth any amount of money.
