Super Chains
Having beaten and very much enjoyed the original Chains back in 2008, getting its sequel after seeing it on the Steam store a couple of weeks ago was a no-brainer. I remember spending quite a few hours on the original, even though it didn’t take too long to finish. It’s one of those games you can easily come back to – play through it once, figure out which levels you like most and replay them whenever you have a few minutes to kill.
Having now beaten the sequel, I can easily see myself coming back to it many times in the future, as well. Super Chains isn’t simply the original with updated graphics – while it brings back nearly half of the original’s levels, it introduces a number of new ideas into the mix. The main mechanic is obviously still connecting a set of colored balls, but this time around they might represent the letters of a word or poker cards – something that wasn’t explored much in the original that I found very enjoyable.

Super Chains is not necessarily an easy game to review, not because there’s anything wrong with it, but rather because it’s so many different games, all (so far as I’ve played) done right. Enough to please pretty much any puzzle gamer several times over, I’d imagine. And I say that with a rather extensive library of “pure puzzle” games of my own from Steam.
Super Chains starts off slowly, allowing each player to become accustomed to the “connect the colored balls” variety, of which there are several. But when I say several, I don’t mean that that they are the same, or even particularly similar. Certainly not similar enough to become repetitive, and with the presence of both Global and Friends leaderboards, repeat play is very much a given. (Competition never grows old!) And with ten languages (so far), competition is global. And something else that prevents Super Chains from getting old is the superior soundtrack. Easily one of the best I’ve heard for a puzzle game.

Tiny Bubbles
Tiny Bubbles is a world class casual puzzle game. It’s a joy to play each moment because the physics are so robust, and it still manages to be a genuine challenge. I love how the mechanics are loose enough to where you straight up have to quickly finesse the physics sometimes to beat the level, or you can take your time and megamind it. Add the “Nick’s Praise Award” to your giant award cabinet.

Tiny Bubbles is one of those puzzle games that is mesmerizingly beautiful and zen to play.
I loved the beautiful sounds and peacefully balanced levels. I could enjoy mastering the challenges without having the cognitive overhead of a complicated UI often found in other puzzle games.
Everything was very intuitive. Actions primarily were fill colors and break barriers to merge liquid into a larger surface area.
I could play this game for hours. It helps me relax when stressed.

Jelly Blocks
It’s reasonably unique, and works well. My time spent playing it was enjoyable.
However, it is a very small game, both in terms of its depth and in terms of its content; most of the songs repeated many times during an hour of play.

Not a help screen in sight. I couldn’t get it to recognize my controller. And honestly, in my opinion, just slamming on a DosBox was not the way to drag this into the modern day. I’m having it refunded and I suggest you steer clear as well.

Atlantis: Pearls of the Deep
ONE-THOUSAND LEVELS ON ZEN - One-thousand levels to get the last achievement. If you are the even a little bit OCD, do not buy this game. One thousand levels, and there’s only a couple of tens of different screens to get through. By the time I was five-hundred screens in, it was too late to give up. I had to keep ploughing onward.
It was alright up until the zen bit. The main levels are fun, the challenge levels are nicely thought out. Maxis Marble Drop was a better game in almost every way, but this does its best. The game feels as if some designer sat in a room and said “How about we take Columns and cross it with Pachinko and then make it really slow” - currently I resent every second I spent on this game, but it’s not that bad to be honest … but a thousand levels, really?

Atlantis:Pearls of the Deep
This is a Wonderful very relaxing & addictive match 3 game using differant coloured pearls as drops. This game is very much like “League of Mermaids” but with a differant story & extra added hidden object levels.

Puzzle Cafe VR
‘Puzzle Cafe VR’ is pretty much what its title suggests it is. This is a jigsaw puzzle game set in a small Jigsaw Puzzle Cafe (and yes, that is a real thing). So you start off with just one puzzle and I started to put the bits together. I then realised that the timer had started the moment I loaded the game, but that was not the worst thing here. Having paid the £3.99 for the full game I was then “timed out” for the demo being only able to play for 3 minutes and that was it! I couldn’t do anything and I couldn’t finish the puzzle. Until this major issue is fixed I suggest no-one else downloads it.

Zuma Deluxe
I have NO idea how I managed to put so many hours into this game. This is a casual, easy to learn, fast-paced game. I consider games like this perfect “thinking” games…not because the game itself takes a lot of thought (it doesn’t) but because you can let your mind go elsewhere while playing. I often clicked this game open when on the phone, listening to music, mulling something over, just had a few minutes, etc. But yet, it is still a fun little game to get serious about if you want to. This is exactly what a casual game should be. Colorful graphics, many different game boards, addictive (I am trying to cut down), and fast-paced.

Oh my, that’s the game that took so many days, and nights, and even some of the work time from me and many of my friends! While it’s not really innovative or something, being a bit upgraded version of the Bejeweled… It was Zuma who made me and so many other people possessed!
You know, I’m not really recommending you the game. If you’re not a fan of casual games like “match 3”, you’ll be quite okay without it. And even if you’re a fan… Maybe you should not try it. Because yes, it is a poison. The S-grade time consumer. You take a level, then one more, then just one more… Each of them isn’t anything really hard, and take about a minute or two… but then, you wake up hours later somewhere on the 8-4 level, and thinking “This one should be the last!”. And maybe you’ll quit right away. But you’ll surely return, and get to the 13th level eventually. And if someday you’ll manage that highest 13th too, that accomplishment will be marked in your head on the same scale, as, like, finishing an annual income statement!

end of 2019 edit: a new game mode has been added, so I edited the review a bit.
have you ever wondered what it’d be like to play tetris on a seesaw? well, tetris without tetris shapes, but the same general idea of dropping blocks and creating matches. and all this in an 80s neon-inspired setting with fitting music. well, that’s what tiltit offers. that, and a city being built in the background based on your performance, which is a really neat idea.
