Masked Vale

Masked Vale

This is a new type of game for me as I don’t normally play Perma Death things and I enjoyed the fast paced combat. I played about 60 minutes so far on a keyboard and got used to the controls fairly quickly.

Regular enemies can easily kill you if you do not dodge/block attacks. Challenging game for sure, I was able to beat 5 levels in a row without dying. Beating the 5th level I unlocked a faster character who has more dodges but less health. Going to try and play a bunch with her now.

The levels have a cool design that is other worldly and I really like the special attacks my character has. The flame stomp AOE attack (2 on keyboard) is pretty fun to use. The few times I faced bosses so far I lost each time as this game is quite hard. The new character I unlocked has a quick stab stab stab stab for her second attack that looks wonderfully murderous.

This is a good game, however it has the potential to become great!

I wish there was a dodge mechanic to more consistently avoid damage because of the slow moveset and 1 or 2 levels are bad but this has alot of potential and can definitely go somewhere

Robbed Money

Robbed Money

Quite impressed with this game actually because of how basic and easy it is to play. There are two levels; one which requires you to steal money bags and return them to the truck and another that makes you collect lost money from your associate. The danger does not even present itself as a threat in this game. It is way too easy to dodge the sheriffs and chase the associate. Overall rating 7/10 based on price and play time.

Robbed Money is another GameMaker Studio asset flip from serial copy+paste infringers, HotFoodGames. All these guys do is rip off game templates and projects from the Yoyogames store and try to scam people into paying for someone else’s work on Steam.

This time they’ve ripped off a basic template for a 2D retro pixel top down action game. Run around collecting bags of money with an asset flipped cowboy sprite pack. Even if this wasn’t just an asset flip, it would be garbage. Impossible to recommend.

Pretty good time killer, like The Boshy. Interesting levels, simple drawing. The only drawback is an inflated price tag, so it’s better to take it at a discount.

Nice a platformer/escape game. Game is a bit of new. Game is should more improvement. Btw game have a perma death it’s make it a little bit of difficult.

Amazing game, the description doesn’t lie. It’s very hard. The only negative in my opinion is that there is no ability to save your progress. If that were to be added, it would be a perfect game, for now: nearly perfect.

I get that this is to make the game more challenging, but an OPTION like two game modes / difficulties like easy and hard, with hard being the game in its current form and easy having the ability to save your progress.

Captain Contraband

Captain Contraband

We set out to create the ultimate high seas action rogue-lite. Perma-death allows us to capture the intensity of smuggling a cargo hold full to the brim with valuables across the sea, knowing that if the wrong pirate ship crosses your path, you could lose everything.

If you can just make it to port, and smuggle your ill-gotten goods past customs, the windfall of coin could be just the thing you need to survive.

Key Features

  • Sail Seas Your Way: With three playable Captains, you can use whatever combination of play-styles you want to get to the end. Will you be a ruthless pirate? A dastardly smuggler? or a peaceful trader?

  • A Smuggler’s Paradise: Risk your skin smuggling valuable goods across the sea for great rewards.

  • Light The Fuse, Blast The Hull: Our real-time naval cannon combat means you have to use timing and angles most of all to maximize your damage, and survive relentless cannon volleys yourself.

  • Powerful Sacraments To Obtain: Each Unholy Sacrament provides a great boon and a curse to match. You must adapt your ship to the ever-shifting challenges that different Sacraments will provide.

Dandy: Or a Brief Glimpse Into the Life of the Candy Alchemist

Dandy: Or a Brief Glimpse Into the Life of the Candy Alchemist

Dandy is an auto-scrolling shooter with rogue-like elements such as random items and perma-death. The game is also available on mobile, that explains the art style and why the enemies look rather bland, but trust me, it is a lot better than it looks. The gameplay is simple, you kill waves of enemies, after some waves you get randomized power-ups and eventually you fight a boss.

Enemies:

The strongest part about dandy is the enemy design. Most of the enemies have weaknesses that can be exploited to fight them efficiently without losing health. For example some of the enemies require you to stand still or else you can’t hurt them, while others force you to move or else they shoot at you. These two enemy types can appear on the same screen and lead to difficult situations. Overcoming these tricky screens with knowledge and skill feels very rewarding.

I’ve only played this game a couple hours so far and haven’t even reached a single boss or anything, but I can’t recommend this game enough. Neat art style, nice colors, and gameplay is easy to pick up.

Even though the controls are easy to grasp, this game is unforgiving. It has no problem throwing you in and annihilating you. And levels are randomly generated and sometimes the enemies generated will completely screw you over if you aren’t thinking fast enough.

My only complaint is there isn’t a section giving you information about previously used powerups in the compedium. Minor complaint that doesn’t really matter too much in the grand scheme of things.

Vector Prospector

Vector Prospector

A very fun and replayable roguelite. This is one of the only games I’ve played in the past year that I actually wanted to get back into and play again!

The randomly generated levels give a new experience each time, and all the different enemies have their own interesting way of dealing with them.

I do think the gameplay has a few flaws in the balancing, particularly with the powerups, but overall it doesn’t impede the fun too much.
