Castle of the Underdogs : Episode 1

This game has an awesome Suikoden vibe going for it that you just don’t see often in other games. With it were longer though. Looking forward to part 2!

I played through the first chapter in EA and THIS WAS FUN! The sense of humor here is unique and makes the game charming… left me wanting to run right into the second chapter. I hope to see the next one soon! I am kinda sad that the first chapter did not have more of the recruiting and castle formation stuff, but it is forgivable as long as the content continues and we can keep playing along.

Turn based, but not bad even for me as a person who doesn’t care for turn based. Cute, and kinda addicting, Makes you want to continue playing only issue with that is that it is very short.

The Throne of Bernicia

The Throne of Bernicia

This was a wonderful game (and it was totally free). The characters changed expressions that coincided with the dialogue (like smiles, closed eyes, wide-eyed looks) and you could see them immediately, just like they were real people. It had a good amount of side quests. You had choices on what your responses could be and most of the time your responses would result in different outcomes. The story was well written and the dungeons were not all the same. It was not predictable so several times I was surprised with what happened. The battles had different backgrounds. There was comedy as well as drama.

I was looking for a random Indie JRPG to play, and happened to find this one yesterday. It’s absolutely free, without ads or in game purchases!

I’ve already beaten this game. While I wish a screen with controls would have been useful, it wasn’t too difficult to figure out. Use Z to select, X for back (or menu), arrow keys to move. There are some other buttons, that are repetitive to these, but this felt the most natural. It has some typo errors, but nothing over the top. The biggest bug I encountered is that Ghosts do not give experience or gold. There is end game gold exploit, but honestly at that point it didn’t matter for me. There are also 2-4 chat screens with an error for the speaker portrait and naming.

Dungeon Crawler Daniel

Dungeon Crawler Daniel

Another winner rpg from Wolfs Moon Studio and Shane. This one is different than the others as there is only only one town with multiple dungeon levels. Dungeon levels are timed so have to be quick yet have to fight to build up all the characters you pick up (over 20) on your journey. Huge variety of monsters and bosses (optional ones also) and plenty of items and chests in the dungeons and the town has all the necessary stock needed to buy. Dungeon levels are very well designed and battles are most challenging. Characters are

The Tainted

The Tainted

You play as Jezebel, a mysterious girl who awakens in the woods, with little memory of her past. Unlike most of the humans of this world, she can use magic and communicate with intelligent creatures. In trying to live up to her motto of always doing what’s necessary, she often finds herself in uncomfortable situations.

Along the way to exploring the land of Xanthia, you’ll gain allies to help you face the many challenges that await. Do you have what it takes to stop the Taint?

Features:

Old school, 2D style RPG

Turn-based combat

Partial spell customization

Mature/immature humor

Mini-games

The Tainted was created using the RPG Maker MV engine and makes use of a lot of content created by the RPG Maker community. It attempts to tell a unique and funny story, as well as show off some of the talent found in this often overlooked community. Much of the humor is of a mature nature and is not intended for younger viewers. So, if you enjoy classic RPGs with turn-based combat and are also an adult that still thinks farts are funny….you might also enjoy The Tainted.

Googass

Googass

An ambitious attempt at a fair price. I am sure it would be interesting to someone. That someone isn’t me. Awkward controls with an overly ambitious combat system that fights against the auto battle function make every fight a mess of menus and repetitive movements. Challenging fights that make even random encounters dangerous yet never reaching a state of being unfairly overpowered. Even the bosses have a decent difficulty curve which make any party wipes the player’s fault. Sadly the actual game isn’t engaging enough to make you want to level up. Then you have a story that barely makes you want to see where it is going. I can safely say most people will quit out before giving it a chance to establish itself.

Slime Kingdom - An Unlikely Adventure!

I’m confused it’s a demo and it’s super short only 2 min at most and you need to buy DLC to start playing the game?!

Real player with 1.9 hrs in game

This is a terrible game and demo. There are tons of bugs I discovered. You can BYPASS DLC and play part of Episode 1! Just click on your save file then progress. There you go, Episode 1, but it’s bugged because you’re not suppose to play it. I got to the

! Temple part to face the boss, then the game softlocks after the boss dialog when he hits you. The ant enemy is way too strong. It’s “Crunch” move does way too much damage like 200-300, half your life, while the other enemies just do like 30-60 damage. Verdict: This game sucks. Not even worth the DLC.
