Cyber Dodge

Cyber Dodge

A relaxing precision platformer that includes some 80’s style synth music. The design is simplistic but it looks cool with the different neon colors. The last level is probably where I spent most of the time playing this game, had to lose like 500 times to beat it.

For the amount of levels I would say the full price is a little too high, you can get games with much more gameplay content for 5€. On sale, it is worth it though. I would recommend getting it full price if dev decides to add more levels and maybe achievements too.

My amazing experiences was fun and cannot be described in words. Challenging at times but love see option where we could change the ball to use for cosmetic purposes. Has Tron feel and makes you think as dodge your way through simple to challenging levels. Thank you NKVN Games opportunity to demonstrate their game.

Hover

Hover

I’ve invested a good chunk of hours into the game, and I feel pretty confident in this review. Hover : Revolt of Gamers isn’t Jet Set Radio Future. In some ways, it’s actually better. It’s a great game and something I’d consider a huge Kickstarter success.

There are a lot of comparisons to be made between Hover (and let’s be serious, Hover : Revolt of Gamers is a terribly long title) and the cult classic Jet Set Radio, but I’ll get to that in the second paragraph. If you’re not familiar with Jet Set Radio, it was a game for the Sega Dreamcast that focused on cartoony graphics, groovy sounds, and spraying graffiti while skating around. Jet Set Radio Future was the sequel to that game with faster paced gameplay, simplified mechanics, and a generally better, bigger, and more featured world. Hover borrows heavily from Jet Set Radio Future and Mirror’s Edge while mixing in its own flair, and the result is surprisingly polished from such a small developer.

tl;dr: If you like Mirrors Edge, Jet Set Radio, or any parkour game, you will love this game!

The main aspect of this game is the parkour and thankfully it works almost perfectly where moving around and gaining/losing momentum all feels very natural. Jumping as a function feels very easy to get used to and easy to control. One thing I would change about the jumping mechanic is when a player crouch jumps off a wall. It feels as though if slightly more momentum was maintained after a wall-jump it could open new routes of exploration for players. Other than that, the jumping is practically flawless in terms of momentum. Perhaps some blur effects around the edges of the screen when a player is going at maximum speed could be added to give a sensation of speed, but that’s not necessarily important in terms of how the character moves.

Mirror’s Edge™ Catalyst

Mirror’s Edge™ Catalyst

One of the main reasons why I finally laid my hands on Mirror’s Edge Catalyst only in the end of 2021 is that I laid my dick (metaphorically, of course) on the first rule of the multimedia consumer: never trust other’s opinion. There were so much hate, so many complaints about this game—and while I still love the original Mirror’s Edge, I thought Catalyst was not worth my attention, since so many people said it was a total crap. Besides, there’re always many other games, so I can’t say I was bored or have been missing Faith so much. But finally I bought Catalyst, mostly thanks to many ASMR videos on YouTube with amazing views and sound ambience from the game. And you know, I’m not dissappointed. Not a bit. Certainly, I understand that a pure parkour game can be not very satisfying, especially a year after Dying Light came out. But Mirror’s Edge never was a complex multi-aspect game—it was always a stylish speed running entertainment with an amazing audiovisual component. It’s simple by its nature, and that’s really good, when you just want to switch your brain off and relax, while getting aesthetical enjoyment.

TRON RUN/r

TRON RUN/r

A very fun game to play, right off the bat. Though, it may look like just another endless runner, it’s really more than that. It’s more like an action/runner with a finish line.

The graphics are gorgeous… that part is obvious. The music is pretty awesome as well. I highly recommend that you play this game with a good surround sound system.

The levels start out fairly simple and at boot, it teaches you how to use certain basic moves, to help you maneuver around the obstacles. As you progress to each new level, things get more challenging, but it’s nothing you can’t possibly master. The controls are very sharp, so if you goof up, you’ll know it was your fault and not the game itself (unless you experience a glitch, which I will discuss later in this review).

I avoided writing a review for TRON RUN/r for quite a while because I couldn’t answer one basic question: “Do you recommend this game?”

The truth is, I’m not sure. If we’re talking about going back in time and talking to myself when it first came out, then yes, I would absolutely recommend the game to myself. If I’m talking to any die-hard TRON fans, or fans of speedruns or other runner games, then yes, I would recommend it. But I still have the free giftable copy of the game I bought with the Deluxe Edition, and I haven’t tried to gift it to any of my friends. The niche of this game is very small, and it was tainted on release with the smell of “microtransactions” and is tainted now by lack of support. The short version is that this game is an enjoyable but deeply flawed mess.

Acid Spy

Acid Spy

This game is very fun. If you don’t want to speedrun it, you don’t have to. There is a mechanic to carry bodies of the bots to safe spots for hiding, so you can complete each level at your own pace this way. It still requires learning the maps and bot spawns/routes to some degree, but that’s to be expected, right? There is an option in the options menu to enable “same spawns”, making things a bit easier to memorize and there’s no shame to using it. It’s challenging no matter how you approach the game and presents very fun movement mechanics that the maps allow you to exploit and take to any extreme you wish. At later levels, you will be pushed in ways you really wouldn’t expect. Complexity and size of the rooms, while the increase in the number of bots rise, become overwhelming and you’ll need patience to figure out surprisingly thorough plans of attack. It’s never impossible but I haven’t just breezed through it by any means. Highly recommend you give it a try.

Acid spy is a great indie game. It’s got a simple yet refined moveset that allows for endless creativity and freedom, you can rush through the level stabing everything in your way or you can move slowly, drop down on enemies and shoot them from afar.

Acid spy’s main gimick is that the gun only has four bullets, but they’re restored when you stab an enemy forcing you to get close to enemies and stab them.

the teleporters are a bit unoptimized, causing lagspikes whenever they’re used. and the knife hitbox is a little wonky at times. but that’s usualy not a problem and it’s not too bothersome.

I really like this game!! It definitely took a little bit for me to get the hang of, but once I got the controls down, I was good to go!! It took me a few tries to get all the data cubes on level 2, but now that I’ve collected all for level 1 and 2, I’m challenging myself to see how fast I can complete each level WHILE collecting all the data cubes. I hope more levels come to this game, the art is super cool and the game runs really nicely!!
