Days Gone

Finished my first 100% play-through at 110 hours because I took my time, but haven’t done the extra challenges yet with some interesting rewards. With my ancient Intel CPU and mid tier GPU, my game ran fine at Very High settings, with some occasional drops on some specific locations but tolerable, I’d say this port is very well done.

Story wise it’s okay, everything came into conclusion in the end but you’ll have a feeling that it just ended abruptly. Also, the story is much less darker than Last of Us and feels like a cheesy Hollywood movie. There will be a sense of accomplishment and major twists in the end, it felt like I was watching a tv series with some character development with specific characters, there are other interesting characters which they didn’t build up which felt like a lost opportunity.

Days Gone Review

After reading and hearing many mixed reviews for Days Gone, I decided to give it a try, as someone who usually enjoys open world gameplay. And suprisingly, I was not disappointed.

Story Synopsis

The story is definitely the strong suit of the game, but it needs a while to pick up the pace and gradually introduce characters. The player takes on the role of Deacon St.John, a member of the Mongrels MC in Farewell, Oregon who at the beginning of a Zombie Apocalypse, tries to flee his hometown with his wife Sarah and club buddy Boozer, while the general population is in total disarray and panicking. He is seperated from his wife after she is being wounded and puts her onto a evacuation helicopter of the NERO organisation and the game fast-forwards to several months later. Deacon and Boozer are now so-called “Drifters”, free-agents that travel between the various outposts of humanity in the region and do jobs for them, like bounty hunting and supply runs.

Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition

Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition

TLDR: An unbalanced and buggy mess that is too short for the price. Only worth getting (on sale) if you’re looking to continue the story.

This game makes it hard to have fun with, because it has a lot of bugs and glitches that have a negative impact on enjoyment. It’s very obvious that this game was rushed out of development and hasn’t seen much support. It makes this game stink of money grab intentions. This one is rather shameful in comparison to the original Dead Island.

Some combat moves were added that might’ve been neat on paper but were glitched to hell to the point of being almost useless. You can do a jump attack from above, which is an instant kill to normal zombies, but doing so runs the risk of being stuck in the attack animation. For a few seconds your character is floating slightly above the ground, you can’t move, and you are vulnerable to attacks while it’s happening. Most of the time, it’s not a good idea to use this move.

What is Riptide?

Riptide was a stand-alone expansion to Dead Island back in 2013. Releasing such content was already a rarity at that time; you usually make do with DLCs where your best bet is to purchase the corresponding Season Pass instead of individual contents. So, releasing an expansion to an already well-known game seems a pretty cool idea. The story takes place immediately after Dead Island - from Banoi we switch to Palanai, another tourist resort-like location which is taken over by our undead friends.

Dead Rising® 2

Dead Rising® 2

Dad Rising 2 - A Game About Spoiling Your Daughter With Gifts, Crossdressing, and Gambling. (With an optional but forced zombie, and survivor rescue minigame)

Rescuing survivors can be a good deal of fun since it makes your PP go up quicker than when killing zombies and a few give you lots of goodies such as drugs (for ur daughter) and money. However there are some survivors that deserve your wrath, the wrath of zombies, or to get sniped by /pol/. I have a few stories of such survivors, if I wasn’t going for Otis’s outfit I would’ve let them die.

Dead Rising 2 is a classic game imo and is definitely one of my favorites. It’s just so amazing in every way possible. I bought it back in 2010 when it first came out on the 360 and was just so engrossed into it and just really enjoyed the ever-living shit out of it. When Dead Rising 3 was announced it was probably one of the most exciting game reveals I had anticipated just off of how amazing this game was prior to it. Tons of zombies, tons of ways to kill them, great story, great soundtrack, tons of cool characters, fun bosses, co-op, lots of outfits, etc. this game has everything and more.

Dead Rising 3 Apocalypse Edition

Dead Rising 3 Apocalypse Edition

Aside from the notoriously bad port this game recived upon it’s arival to PC, this game is actually really damn good.

When i bought this game, i knew what i was in for. I had heard about people complaining about this game’s port to the PC, but.. to be honest, it didn’t bother me much. The framerate is locked to 30, which, sure. Is low compared to what a PC like mine normaly preform on games, but I have always been a huge fan of Capcom’s Dead Rising series, owning both the first and second game on console before getting them all on PC when i moved to it half-way through the 3rd gen console era.

Dead Rising 3, the fourth dead rising game (Off the record was it’s own game but a rehash of 2). I’ve played all of them up to this point and to be honest, Dead Rising 3 might be my favorite.

The big thing Dead Rising 3 does is give the player far more power and time than the other games. The time limits are huge now, to the point where you barely have to pay attention to the story, just play the game, do all the side missions you want and then continue the story. It’s a freedom that the first 2/3 games didn’t have, and makes this game a joy to play. On the other hand it takes a 6 hour limit and moves it to closer to 30 for the first playthrough. This is actually a good thing as most people won’t replay these games repeatedly. I know some do, but I’m thrilled at only really needing one playthrough to see everything.

Zelly’s Discount Reviews

This review is based on the idea you are only considering the game at mass discount, not full price, it isn’t ever gonna be worth full price.

The short version: Game breaking bugs and performance issues really drag this down from being a discount bin hidden gem. Other wise it would be fine as a discount game, for a more detailed break down, keep reading.

The game that ended Dead Rising as a series, is it really as bad as people say? Largely yes, there are fun points however to this game and you could really have a fun time with the game at a large discount if not for massive game breaking bugs that can permanently ruin your save file. As for the game it itself if you get the the season pass there’s several modes you can play through, each with their ups and downs.

Before this review begins I just want to say this is coming from a guy who LOVES the Dead Rising franchise. I played tons of Dead Rising 1 on the Xbox and got it on pc the release date and consider it my favorite game of all time. I also played over 200 hours of Dead Rising 2:OTR without modding it.

I think I have played this game thoroughly enough to write a review for this product (Beating the game once and grinding to level up and collect everything such as blueprints, mysteries etc. etc.) and boy where to begin. Dead Rising 4 is really a unique game. Reaching a ridiculous amount of controversy and complaints. I’ll be the one to say it was a pretty fun game to play…But not in the way it should of. Dead Rising 4 had the potential to be absolutely PHENOMENAL, but Capcom Vancouver shunned out the fans of Dead Rising and handed us a product that was such a disgrace to the series, which led to the result of Dead Rising 4. Every complaint you’ll see about this game is almost completely agreeable, but a lot of it is also a bit too excessive and heated that it just makes CV look like they murdered your dog. So I will make this this review completely fair and civil listing the Pros and Cons of this game.

State of Decay: YOSE

State of Decay: YOSE

I originally got State of Decay and then, later, when it was on sale, picked up the YOSE version. This is my updated review for the YOSE version.

The game is a single-player third-person zombie apocalypse sandbox of sorts: while the main game has a storyline to follow, you certainly don’t need to follow it and the story won’t advance until you do, giving you a lot of time to just poke around. I have enjoyed the game very much. It’s certainly interesting enough to play and while it starts out reasonably tame, it can get quite difficult.

While I support everyone’s cause to end developers with the $$ in their eyes, this is clearly not the right title to be doing it on and the people doing so are misguided.

TL;DR - Developers (who made the game) have no control over the business practice as this still is a Microsoft-published/controlled title. It’s a stretch that Microsoft even let this game go on Steam, so don’t expect any official support beyond what was already offered. Undead Labs are just the ‘ideas people’ who took advantage of a system that let them start small on the console market. This game was never expected to succeed how it did. This is the remaster of a previously 2-gig sized game, and you are getting out of it what you are willing to pay for it.
