BlastZone 2

BlastZone 2

My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, ‘If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.’. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- ‘Don’t ever smoke. Please don’t put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because this game gave me cancer anyway.

Apparently the blast zone is actually quite large. BlastZone 2 is a short indie side scrolling shooter (ala R-type but I wouldn’t say this game is that similar to R-type) made by solo developer Mat Edzenga. It features a number of different ships with different load outs, 8 stages filled with enemy ships, interesting 3D graphics and a few extra modes to try your hand at once you have beaten the main game. It also has local 2 players, controller support and costs only a few bucks.

Fury Unleashed

Fury Unleashed

I don’t do a lot of reviews, but I felt compelled to a proper one because this game is really, really fun.

Action/platformer/roguelite/RPG

First of all, I’m on the wrong side of 45 and still gaming strong, but it presents a quandry: I love “old school” games, but - I am too old and can’t game as well as I used too. The secondary problem I run into is “loving the idea” of old school games but after the novelty of pixilated graphics wears off, I can’t see them as anything but ugly. Fury Unleashed effectively beat the hell out of those problems. It has an AMAZING amount of customization of difficulty allowing for old people like myself to really enjoy it as well as the crazy kids hat love games being 25 viagra hard. The graphics are really sharp and not extravagant, in short it’s pretty and runs butter smooth. It really seems like they thought of everything up to and including a pet peeve of mine where games that use the Steam Workshop make you download the workshop stuff outside of the game, but this integrates it into the character select screen so you literally see the cosmetics you can dl from the workshop and simply select it in-game.

TL;DR 10/10 Xom howls with laughter!

What would the product be if you mixed together the creativity of Comix Zone, the unrelenting action of Metal Slug, and the audacity of action flicks from the 80’s? Probably this. Fury Unleashed is the first game I want to review, and rightly so.

To begin with, the Hero starts off with one SMG, one choppy blade, grenades, and boots of stomping. Throughout the course of the story, you get all the silly loot you could want and more. Freezing shrapnel grenades? Got ‘em. Rocket launcher with poison warheads? Sure! Unholy blade? No problem. Triple jump boots? Go wild! In addition to this arsenal of fun, the enemies you face are varied and challenging in distinctive ways. In fact, the same deadly shenanigans you pull on them can just as easily apply to you. This is most noticeable in the second comic book, where enemy soldiers can (and will) use the same weapons you do.

Circle Empires Rivals

Circle Empires Rivals

Circle Empires: Rivals is the multiplayer successor to Circle Empires. At its core, Circle Empires Rivals is a 10-25 minute long real time strategy game. Despite the short game length, it has quite a lot of content and depth, and easily gets a strong recommendation given its moderate to low price point.

At the time of writing this review, the game has 7 different game modes, 26 commanders with unique army compositions and bonuses, 6 difficulty settings, 5 different map sizes, and within the various game modes (such as stop the army and monster hunt) there are also different scenario selections available. The different game modes range from very easy to very difficult, and even with 4 people working together in a co-op game certain modes like Defend the Castle mode is extremely difficult on even moderate difficulty settings, so if you like a PvE challenge, the game has this available.

Must buy for every RTS fan and people who would like to experience something unique with alot of variety.

You can play this game on easy mode or incredible challenging. There are a lot of game modes and coop makes alot of fun too. The game is also very well made no bugs and a great interface!

Got 32hours on the first one and with this game I expect getting closer to 100+ hours for only 8-12 euro you got great value.

If you want to play this coop, but don´t have someone to play it with, I am always looking for people to play it with, since it just makes even more fun in coop-mode.

POSTAL Redux

POSTAL Redux

After waiting for this game to come out since the moment it was announced, I’d say that my opinions about POSTAL Redux are a bit mixed. I like this game, but I wanted to love it. Here are the pros and cons.

Pros:

*Better gameplay than the original, it plays like an actual 3/4 isometric shooter, no-more tank controls.

*Rampage mode is awesome, especially that alternate ending!

*The new remastered OST is amazing, I just wish that all of them were remastered and not just most. Also amazing are the tracks for Rampage mode

4.2.1

A remake of Postal in UE4, supposedly remade from scratch that may be a little too faithful to the original. Along with the good comes some of the same issues the classic had.

Redux comes with multiplayer deathmatch/co-op, the classic campaign along with their expansion levels, and the new single player mode, Rampage, where an actual scoring system comes to play.

The controls in Redux are far more superior to the classic tank controls, but the game’s nice enough to add tank controls anyway if you so wish to play it that way. You can now run and shoot with better precision and it plays more like an actual twin stick shooter with full controller compatibility. The game is much lower in difficulty compared to the classic thanks to the ability to properly run & gun.

JUMANJI: The Curse Returns

JUMANJI: The Curse Returns

Not what I expected being honest, I was envisioning more interactivity such as those in mario party games, it’s not a bad game but it does feel lacking. After playing for around 11 hours roughly I can say I have adapted to the game-play of dragging the corresponding item to either another character or the enemy at hand, it can be somewhat challenging, especially trying to get the save every location achievement which I had to enlist the help of a friend as the Ai was not working out, this is as far as core game-play goes however.

finally! a jumanji game that is actually a JUMANJI game!

why did it take over two decades for someone to make this??

doesn’t matter, it’s here now, i love it ♥

Wing Breakers

Wing Breakers

I don’t remember when was last time when I truly enjoyed racing game with planes. Even tho it’s more of arcade game than simulator, it’s really great. It’s fun to complete training and gaining title of A0 Master, it’s fun to beat weekly/overall records of certain maps and compete with others, it’s fun to play on multiplayer and singleplayer. Sadly, there aren’t many players and mostly you will play alone (you can do that on both single and multi option) but I hope it will change after game will leave early access. You can also customize your plane with special skins and stickers, which drops weekly like in CS:GO. With team of 2 people updates are going rather slowly but there is tracks editor, so if you think there aren’t enough maps you can try yourself at making one. Even if this game is still in early access, it’s at playable stage. I think Altitude0: Lower & Faster as final product will be something great.

Things that weren’t fixed, though developer promised that.

–————-

1. Midair collisions. Bots often try to ram you. In 90% of cases it would be vertical collssion there someone hit you from above or below. You can’t control your plane anymore and it flyes in unpredictable directions, but other person (who rammed you) won’t be affected in any way - nor by physics or race/health-points penalty.

2. Respawn. It sometimes psition you in bad spots. I hate it the most when it respawn me right in front of mountain pass with no way to evade collision into it and then again respawn at the same spot.

The game just got released, so not a lot of players are playing at the moment but i hope the number of players increase in due course of time. A few suggestions -

  1. Include new modes such matchmaking (1vs1, 2vs2, 3vs3 etc ) instead of just having lobbies.

  2. Include ranked match making and introduce ranks.

The game seems a little overpriced.

Overall great game and a lot of fun to play !

Move or Die

Move or Die

I wanted to love this game, and in many ways I did.

The controls are tight and satisfying, the games are typically and appropriately frustrating, but balanced, and the mutators add a great twist to gameplay. Now, the marketing for this game is a bit questionable. While there is an element of chaos to the gameplay, it’s an organized chaos that lends itself more toward fierce competition than wacky party antics, since most of your deaths will be your own fault even amidst the layers of changing rules. Make no mistake: this is a game about gitting gud. What’s more, in the time I’ve owned it I’ve watched the developers steadily iron out nearly every bug or issue I had upon buying this game, and it’s flourished into a strong couch game - that is, if your couch friends have the stamina for it.

Move or die is a very fun game, but fails to execute on aspects of gameplay

Move or die is a party game that encourages you to rage, most of the gamemodes involve you having to deal with the other players more than the environment, but this doesnt include all, this game is quite a great idea, and is a very fun quick party game, but I believe the game should still be in early access, and this is for quite a few reasons.

Gameplay

In move or die, you can play matches 5-30 minutes long, with each of these matches you get to choose the game modes that YOU want to play and your oppenents do the same. You then play your match according to the game randomly picking from your collective choices of gamemodes and you playing them in that exact order.

Vandalhalla

Vandalhalla

This game has a really interesting premise that I hella wanna try out more of. It can benefit from better implementation of certain things, but it NEEDS singleplayer bot support. (F2P playing against bots was what got me into AFPS games in the first place.) At the moment, whenever you’re not playing with other humans, the only thing available is the parkour mode, and that’s it. (Parkour mode is pretty neat though). IMO, to address playercount, a game like this would benefit from doing a free-to-play model like TOXIKK or does ‘huge-selection-roster’ games like Paladins or League of Legends, where the base gameplay is free, but other supplemental stuff is purchased (e.g. new weapons not on free rotation, visual customization, etc).

Waited for an hour for matchmaking and didn’t find one. Movement is very bare bones and not fun.
