Oknytt

Storyline: On the darkest of nights when creatures and spirits rarely seen by man abound, a lost(?) traveler/wanderer is invited to join a campfire and listen to a tale. The tale told by the invisible narrator is about a small insignificant nameless creature born out of darkness on the darkest of nights much like that night. This epic journey of self-awareness and discovery turns into a magic strewn and danger filled quest which takes place in a single night full of magic and spirits taken from Swedish forklore.

You follow a little creature on his journey for fulfillment, wandering through nightly environments that are inspired by tales of folklore. Gameplay is quite standard to the point-and-click genre where you collect objects to interact with your surroundings and overcome puzzles. A nice addition though, is that you’re equipped with four elemental runes (earth, water, air, fire) which activate and produce different outcomes depending on the scene. You can also interact with entities in a few different ways, such as touching, observing or talking to the person/object. Although not all interactions are entirely necessary, it can lead to some humerous/extra dialogue and is a nice feature nonetheless.

It’s Six Random Characters and a Single Floor Dungeon, That’s the Whole Game

Got wiped three steps from the starting area because I did not realize that the main healing skill my cursed cleric had required more MP than they started with and the dragons we were fighting kept spamming an attack that made the party’s faith in god drop so low that the healing skill I had given someone else was useless.

Seriously though, it is a fantastic game and I lost a ton of time on the demo. I strongly suggest you look at the developer’s page for a very detailed FAQ that will help immensely (assuming someone doesn’t upload it to the Guide section first)

All the King’s Men

All the King’s Men

The King is kidnapped from his bed in the middle of the night without a struggle. The royal militia specifically seeks out Topher’s father for his help, citing suspicious indiscretions in his past. Leaving him with many more questions than answers, and no remaining ties to his home, Topher decides to make his way across the nation on foot to meet up with his father in the capital city and put the pieces of his life together into a full image that makes sense. Along the way, meet allies and enemies alongside Topher on his journey across the land to save his family and, in turn, the Kingdom.

On-Screen Enemy Encounters / Battle System

Never feel like you’re leaving the action of the game with a random encounter! All enemies are on-screen and battles take place right where you found the enemy on the map. The active-battle system keeps fighting dynamic and allows the you to follow the action in real time in order to best strategize your next move.

Complete Control over Stat-Growth

Instead of gaining random, arbitrary stats based on some RNG behind-the-scenes, control your own destiny and customize each play-through with your own personalized leveling board. Every play-through can be different, based on the path you take to improve your party.

Fully Original Soundtrack

A truly dynamic, original soundtrack to fully immerse you within this open world adventure. Every track in the game was created specifically, and exclusively, for All the King’s Men by idea composer, Andrew LiVecchi.

Multiple Difficulties

Choose your fate before the game begins, based on the level of challenge you desire. Standard mode still offers challenging gameplay, but you’ll have access to saving whenever you desire, simply by accessing your menu, inn and item prices will be much more easily accessible, and enemies of all types will present less of a challenge. Professional mode is not for the faint of heart. Your save access will be restricted to the save crystals throughout the map, inn and item prices will be more of a stress on your wallet, and enemy battles will require careful strategy and consideration to win.

Both modes will offer the same access to the main plot of the game and the quests related to that, though some side quests will only be found in Professional Mode.

Flexible Controls

More detailed information about controls still being confirmed.

Clans

Clans

The most underestimated game ever.

This game was heavily criticized back in 1999 for being poor Diablo 1 clone, but that only means shame for these critics. Because this game is nothing like Diablo.

Now a days I can compare this game most with Legend of Grimrock 1. In Clans you travel through series of small square rooms, grouped into several big locations, killing mosters, that give you no experience. In fact all the character leveling thing is done via collecting different equipment and potions. Very, very rarely they can be dropped by defeated monsters, but most of the time they are hidden in these rooms. Sometimes you can find a merchant, but they are very rare, and each carries only 4 items, which is not much. To buy stuff you need money, which is hiddent in the rooms as well. Selling loot won’t make you rich, so all the money you find matters.

“You enter a new kind of hell."

Clans is a slightly bland name, isn’t it? Maybe that’s why it was called Satanica in Germany. Satanica, that’s more like it.

It came out during a time where everyone was waiting for Diablo II and every game that shared similar traits was quickly dismissed as a clone. Clans got slaughtered by the press, they hated the non-scrolling, square rooms with clearly marked exits and the static, pre-rendered graphics.

Well. I love them to death. All these wonderful shades of brown, grey and black. Almost every room/bit uniquely rendered. A sense of total bleakness without bragging about it. And then puzzles, like, proper puzzles that you would find in classic point-and-click adventure games. Kicking a door in with an axe, setting spellbooks on fire in a chimney to destroy them.

In My Defense

In My Defense

This is a challenging, old-school, retro, side-scrolling shooter. You must defend your base, against the onslaught of alien attackers.

Features:

  • Radar of entire playfield, shows where threats exist

  • Picture in picture view of the base, so you can keep an eye on it

  • 28 waves

  • 15 power-ups. Power-ups can be combined

  • 10 bonus twin-stick shooter levels, starring Hitch, the security robot, take place under the base. Many enemies on these levels are spawned by generators, that must be destroyed. Ensects attack power generators, damaging the base. There are gas outlets that cause large explosions, if shot.

  • Multiple weapons, including: Lasers, Bombs, and the dreaded Sonic Bomb, which can mass-kill enemies

  • Many enemy types, each with unique abilities

  • Boss battles

  • Snow, thunderstorm, and darkness environments. Dark environments must be lit with flares

  • AI-powered wingmen can be summoned to assist. Careful, they can be turned against you

  • Rock launchers help you defend the base. You can pick them up and re-position them with your ship

  • You can escort evacuation ships to the opposite side of the playfield. If they escape, you are rewarded with resources

  • Defensa- your ship’s computer voice. She informs you when you activate power ups, warns of threats, and makes comments about the unfolding events

  • Original Soundtrack- original soundtrack written specifically for the game by six different composers

  • Optional arcade style controls, where the joystick on the gamepad only moves your ship vertically. Horizontal movement is done via thrust and reverse buttons

  • Randomized waves - no two waves are the same, for improved re-playability

A gamepad is recommended.

Photosensitive seizure warning

Thunderstorm levels have lightning flashes in the sky.

A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain visual images, including flashing lights or patterns that may appear in video games. Even people who have no history of seizures or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed condition that can cause these “photosensitive epileptic seizures” while playing video games.

Immediately stop playing and consult a doctor if you experience any symptoms.

Okay, first of all, it looks like this game uses the uMMORPG asset kit available on the Unity asset store as it’s template:

https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/templates/systems/ummorpg-51212

The fact that this developer uses this asset kit doesn’t concern me because it looks as if he’s made his own story, his own quests, his own maps and dungeons himself, and that’s great!

Here’s my first impressions livestream playing this game:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJE1FcyhMk4

As you’ll see in my stream, this game is simple, and fine but the fact the the in game FPS tanks every ten to fifteen seconds is a big concern. I can stand in place and do nothing and still watch the FPS drop from 60 to 23 every few seconds. While in combat or while running, these fps drops are very much felt. I have a brand new gaming MSI Trident 3 with an i7 10700 ### 3.4 Ghz, and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super with 8 GB DDR5, and 16 GB of Dual Channel DDR4 RAM. Graphics like this should not be bringing my computer to its knees!

American Isekai Prologue

Really enjoyed this demo. The game, despite being clearly identified as a work in progress, is nonetheless a fun diversion. I’ve been playing this style of RPGs since the Apple IIc version of Might & Magic II: Gates to Another World and the OG Nintendo Final Fantasy I. I really enjoy learning new systems and progressing the story at my own pace; this game gives me the same sense of wonder and control over my own destiny in the game that those games that originally captured my imagination so many years ago.
