All the Delicate Duplicates

All the Delicate Duplicates

A short, first person adventure with a strong artistic vibe, and a focus on narrative rather than puzzles. You explore the home of a family who has endured some form a mysterious trauma, which involves some psychological and metaphysical themes. Uncovering the narrative occurs through inspection of objects left lying around the home. One of the novel aspects of this game is the multiple timelines, allowing you to explore the setting and story at different points in time. The somewhat enigmatic story is intriguing and indeed I would have liked to have seen it fleshed out even further.

Absolutely Highly Recommended… IF:

  • You have an OPEN mind

  • You go into this knowing it is an experience, not really a “game” like most would define “game”

  • you can deal with disturbing ideas, seeing the world as someone with a debilitating neurological condition (aka/mental illness0 might see it, every day

  • You aren’t a pew-pew-pew-pew only kind of gamer, with extreme biases agaisnt anyone who is different than you.

Especially that last one.

Worth Full Price. Absolutely.

UPDATE below the original review, 23+ hours in the game

I currently have close to 9.4 hours in the game, and I’m at the current ‘end.’ As such, I’ll provide my thoughts thus far:

1st question most ask, is it worth buying? In its current state, at 10 hours of gameplay, that’s a tough sell, but having a chance to perhaps have some input on how the final product turns out may be the tipping point for some.

I’ve had fun. I’ve thought about this game between sessions, which is usually a good indicator that it’s interesting enough, even in its current Alpha state, to keep me guessing. I really hope this winds up as a completed project (have seen a few Alphas sputter and die, let this not be one!)

What if Firefly and Mad Max had a Western themed love child…?

Add in a healthy dollop of Fallout and you’d be looking at Exoplanet: First Contact a real find for those of you lucky enough to stumble across it’s store page.

At the moment - Update 7, mid Jan 2018 - sadly almost nobody has heard of this early access gem. This game is a serious sleeper. It’s a clever, novel concept, the gameplay and the story suck you in from the beginning. I’ve seen criticism of the graphics in other reviews but I guess that was prior to the last update because the desert looks great to me.

The Adventurous Four

The Adventurous Four

The Adventurous Four is the sequel to Wild Island Quest, a choice’s matter visual novel game by NLB Project.

The game starts with you (Henry) snuggled up to your newly wedded wife in bed, with your dog Snoopy at the foot of the bed. You are woken by Snoopy as he barks at someone ringing the doorbell, disturbing your Sunday morning lie in. You crawl out of your pit and go to check who is at the door at this time of the morning. It’s Doyle, a friend of yours, who seems excited and starts to explain why he’s here so early. He says that he’s just finished his project which he’s been working on for the last three years and wants you and your wife, Irene, to be one of the first to see it.

A ‘choose your own adventure’ with very few actual choices, but that’s not really important or why I quite enjoyed this. First the story starts rather normally although something was slightly off with the characters or setting. The story dialogue is stiff and feels like it’s been maybe translated to english but nothing too out of the ordinary although it gradually becomes an outright wacky adventure that doesn’t seem to involve good storytelling or decent character dialog. And this is where it begins to shine. The rather charming if unintentionally funny 3d models, their poses and facial expressions, odd narrative choices and descriptions that range from the oddly mundane to comically over the top and often somewhat inappropriate.

This game is so unique, super cool and nerve wracking at the same time. I genuinely enjoyed it and you get a decent amount of gameplay for the price! I posted a video of it on my YouTube, check out the link below!

Hello there, it’s me, the evil developer. The ***hole who always gives bad reviews on games because of big bugs and quality issues. So i’m really glad i can finally recommend a game after playing a lot of crap here on steam. If you want a piece of quality with a good replay-factor, well, this game is for you. If you have enough of all these “spooky house with murder/zombie/ghost” games, if you got sick of all these asset flips here on steam, then try this game. For me it was perfect, it has the weird factor, the gameplay and the fun i wanted. And all this transported in by a great art style. It has all settings and configuration-options a game needs, it’s well optimized and runs smoothly with 120-160fps (Nvidia980). Took me three nights to finally find a game i like. And i prefer having 5-6h of great gameplay than 15h of bugged gameplay and often ‘no fun’ like in many other games here. This game does exactly what i expect from a game.

HighFleet

HighFleet

Great game that combines strategic gameplay similar to submarine simulations with tactical air battles between flying tanks.

You command a fleet with the aim of capturing the enemy capital city, while fighting off enemy fleets searching for you. Fleet movement is a game of cat and mouse using a very well realised radar system, aircraft carriers, cruise missiles, intercepting enemy radio signals and much more. When two fleets meet, the game switches to tactical battle in which you directly pilot a ship and fight against the enemy. You can design individual ships in your fleet from the groundup and then use them.

The all-time best ever flying submarines in the sky game ever made. Although I have spent most of my time obsessing over ship design, “submarine airship game” is the best description for this FTL-like rogue-like UNFORGIVINGLY Difficult game I can come up with; in campaign, you spend a lot of your time trying to manage 15 different simple things (signals analysis, threat tracking, resources and fleet management, navigation, combat, landing, and then the global story/factions/political overlay of story driven decisions). The ship editor will drive you on the express train to crazytown; every. single. decision. carries huge implications for your campaigns when you start running custom ships, and this gets into the infinitely complex fleet design (what roles do you want your ships to play is critical, and the game lets you figure out your own ways to fail). This is one of my favorite games of 2021.

I was surprised on each level by some new actions, unique animation for bosses and much more stuff.

This game category is not that I prefer usually, because I thought they are a clicker. But this game changed my view on it. Thank you!

I would like to say 8/10, because this indie game looks like completed, suitable product. This game is a first author’s child, which is interesting, smart, sexy and you respect him.

Nice game, for 1 man coding. Good control responce, reaaly nice choice of difficulties, plus you can replay this game at least one time for different story choices (and they bring entirely different maps, not just another position on same map) For it’s price this is a really musthave game for all tower defence lovers, and good choice for players, who are newbs in this type of games.

Born Into Fear

Born Into Fear

Born Into Fear is a first person horror game set in an evacuated suburban neighborhood called North Hollow Heights. Its residents were ordered to leave the area after a powerful Buffer had been sighted nearby. Not everyone escaped. You are Agent Jay, a member of the organization Aegis. You have been sent into the area to search for survivors and to eliminate the Buffer. However, not everything is as it seems.

North Hollow Heights was an ordinary neighborhood before the Buffer emergence. While you seek out a way to destroy the Buffer, explore the hastily abandoned homes and learn what transpired within. Maybe you’ll even find some of the residents who were unable to leave before the area was sealed off.

Gameplay: You’ll have to avoid the Buffers within North Hollow Heights as you solve puzzles and learn the fates of its residents. If you don’t watch your health, you’ll never complete your mission.
