MAMIYA

MAMIYA

At the time I’m writing this review I have yet to experience MAMIYA fully and to completion. I’ve seen all its endings (and not endings, for that matter); however, there are still some stories and details to uncover in three more not-exactly-routes closely related to three more characters (whose existence is a bit spoilery). I will absolutely read everything that is there to read, and I mean everything, because each and every word of MAMIYA is a heavenly treasure I hold very close to my heart.

Summary:

To say that Mamiya brings out the best in emotional writing that tugs at your heartstrings is like saying that EA brings the worst out of monetization strategies. Mamiya may have supernatural elements and interesting twists within its 15 hours of story. With strong characters who you connect with almost immediately, to dark themes that really dive into some interesting subjects without any fear, Mamiya is something that I really don’t want to spoil anything off: because even the most basic elements of the story should be experienced without any sort of spoilers. I mean, I could go in how the twists are realistic and yet really satisifying, that all the substories work in a variety of ways and hit a range of themes, and that the writing is down to earth and yet is a style that feels a little bit different then others out there. It’s all done with a mysterious story that makes those who pay attention to small details have it pay off for them.

PLAYTIME: 2-10 hours

SUMMARY:

DESCRIPTION:

Deep under the surface of the dead Earth, the last haven of humanity — the City — is teeming with life. A combined effort of engineering genius and all mankind’s endeavors, a giant structure made of steel, concrete, and biopolymers, keeps the remnants of civilization one step away from complete extinction.

Josiah Kaviani, a young mathematician and statistician, starts his journey in an underground maze of cramped streets. He is talented and intelligent, but he has one terrible drawback — his unbearable loneliness.

But soon Josiah will have a fateful encounter that will turn his whole life, and his worldview, upside-down. A meeting with someone — or, perhaps, something — that is hidden in such depths that even the cyclopean City cannot reach them. Something so hidden that the very knowledge of it can be deadly. Something truly monstrous.

FEATURES:

  • A well-written world with deep lore and terminology.

  • Complex, adult characters, each with their own motives, aspirations, and skeletons in the closet.

  • A variety of complex and difficult choices that might lead the story to an unexpected end at any time.

  • A dark and frightening science fiction story based on real study.

  • A variety of different routes and endings — realistic situations that end poorly or worse.

  • An atmospheric soundtrack specially written for the game — each track is inextricably linked with the narrative.

  • A lot of high-quality art.

  • Special art gallery where the player can check their progress.

  • Some of the author’s ideas were censored as to be found too dark and cruel…

  • …but most of them remained.

Azurael’s Circle: Chapter 5

Enjoyable game with plenty of characters, puzzles and a good story.

A novel idea start to finish, and while I recommend this for anyone wanting to finish the saga of Azurael’s Circle, I feel it was not a fitting ending. It came too soon - the game play, while familiar, lacked the intensity and scariness of some of its predecessors. I would love to see an epilogue that goes further to finish the story… otherwise, the mechanics remain as awesome as they ever were. I still enjoyed the slow reveal of the light in the shadows and having to make sure I walked every square inch of each room to ensure I didn’t miss anything.

This game for me is the spiritual successor of Damned, one of my all time favorite games. While it is still in some early state, I can see myself enjoying the game soooooo much. The monster play is pretty fun. The investigator play is also quite fun and if the skill level of the monster and the investigator are high, you can have an extremely satisfying game of cat and mouse. The atmosphere is quite good and the traps can be quite spooky. Played a match with a skilled monster, 1 extreme skilled investigator, 2 decent ones and 1 new novice one… Everything went quite well and was super fun, as even when you die you can still help your team of investigators as a friendly ghost

Love this game, while it is still early access the devs are really taking notes on what the community wants. Once you get the lay of the map playing either side gets really fun. I love playing the wraith.

I Make Saints (Steam Edition)

This is one of the scariest games I’ve ever played. I am a horror junkie, I read horror stories, I watch horror movies, I play horror games, and 99% of the time, I’m still searching for that horror rush to be quenched.

This is that 1% where I was actually really on edge. The game does have some bugs, the card for the red lit area did not pop for me, but good lord. This game is unsettling as hell. If you REALLY like horror, you really need to play this.

Yea, I’m not sure what to say about this one. I did like the 80’s Graphics and the story seemed to be getting very interesting and disgustingly creepy. However, it seems to just go in circles then it just end with a little statement at the end. i thought this game would have more to offer but it was waaay too short and was a looped story line… I guess you can say that this game was “Somewhat” good.

Lockheart Indigo

Lockheart Indigo

Lockheart Indigo was a short but fulfilling experience, with all of its parts forming a cohesive whole. The art, the music, the characters and the gameplay all fit together seamlessly to tell an exciting story.

It offers a unique system where, instead of battling your enemies in combat, you have to win them over with clever persuasion. And it’s clear the developer took a lot of time in crafting the various responses to show each character’s unique personality and motives.

I definitely recommend this game, it was a joy to play and a great homage to the Game Boy era from which it took its inspiration.

About 2-3 hour long detective game where the combat is replaced with interrogation, it’s kinda like playing Undertale and only using the dialogue choices (no bullet-hell though). Whenever you need to get information from the character you have to find a way to probe them by using evidence and their motivations against them. The story was decent enough for me to finish the game, but I was a bit disappointed with the illusion of choices as the game is pretty linear overall. You can use F4 to set the game to fullscreen, however, it does not have a widescreen so you will be playing with black borders. Even though the game is relatively polished and resistant to stupid choices, there are some potential softlocks due to the enemy AI, you should keep 2-3 save slots 30 minutes apart just in case (I wasted like 40 minutes because one of the quest items became inaccessible).

Interrogation: You will be deceived

Interrogation: You Will Be Deceived, is an amazing Visual Noir Novel with a compelling cast of characters that complement the rich story-driven detective-noir experience really well.

Playing as a lead detective trying to solve small-time crimes, gathering evidence, interrogating suspects and putting all the pieces of the puzzle together, it seems like just another day at the job.

Okay so first, let me be clear. I ABSOLUTELY love nearly every aspect of this game! However, due to strenuous replays and a little bit of lack of guidance, the tediousness has far outweighed my enjoyment which is saying a lot as I've really enjoyed everything else. This review is spoiler free aside from game mechanic discussions (fail conditions)

Pros:

Story - The story is truly engaging. Nothing's worse than a visual novel with a bad story. Interrogation gives you the sense of every character whether you've met them briefly or if they're your go to partner on the task force.

## The Charnel House Trilogy

**"…and man looked down upon the earth, and the earth crawled up to meet him." - Louis Cassell**

My, my! Wasn't this an astonishing experience? When I decided to give this one a go, I wasn't expecting neither that much spiritual depth, nor such qualitative narrative. _The Charnel House Trilogy_ - one game with separate acts, actually - is an incredibly well arranged psychological horror adventure.

I'd try to give you the baseline for the story, but the events, the characters that they are surrounding and their in-depth meanings are completely dependent on a perspective, and it is near impossible to define any character that we encounter within the game without pure speculation. Charnel House is what you get from Charnel House. Thus, I'll only present you some facts.

PnC/Adventure-game nut that I am, there's still only a small handful of the games that raise my expectations to notable heights. This was one of the handful, and it didn't disappoint.

**Gameplay**

Okay, to start with: This is short. Expect to complete the entire "trilogy" within 1.5 to 3 hours. (It's better to think of the three "games" as simply being chapters of the same story, of which only the third one has any firm length.)

This is a basic puzzle-adventure PnC: Pick up items, combine items, interact with things. That said, all the puzzles are simple [Tip: Your items are accessible via a tab up top, and at one point in the game you do need to click the scroll button on that tab to get the item you need to progress], so veterans shouldn't expect to find any surprises or hint of a challenge. If you're new to adventure games, this may be a good entry point- the narrative pushes you pretty clearly into the approach you need to take with each puzzle.

## 恶灵退散 Go Back to Hell

the art style is cool and the sound track slaps but this is just an eye spy game for anyone thats confused by the description like i was, theres no instructions or dialog your just looking for the weird things in each image with no other context. so ya if plot is what your looking for and not just an ideal thing this isnt it but its nice none the less 3

## At Eve's Wake

High-quality visual novel with multiple endings, fantastic graphic and sound component, and intriguing premise.

The Good Parts:

- Fascinating set-up of family ties based on cult-like faith, bloody competition, and something outright paranormal with overall dysfunction taken to the next level.

- Great writing throughout. It manages to introduce a complex fictional idea in a manner that captures attention and makes you ponder.

- Atmospheric world-building. There’s sinister feeling intertwined with some outright shocking moments. “At Eve’s Wake” isn’t horror in the pure sense of the word, but more in a psychological one, so it has a very well-done horror element burning its way through the game, sometimes on slow simmer, sometimes as a wildfire.

Ahhhhh I was so excited for this to come out and it's finally here! I've just finished my first playthrough and it lived up to my hype, if you're having any doubts about picking up the full game then please try out the demo and you'll see what I mean.

-Gorgeous art and music, just a delightful atmosphere throughout

-A well developed and intriguing story of mystery, murder and mishaps

-An incredible amount of dialogue choices with a variety of endings seemingly possible depending on them.

I love visual novels and narrative-driven games, so I feel that I know what I'm talking about to some degree, and I say this- At Eve's Wake is a beautiful and eerie story that deserves your attention if you're at all interested in Lovecraft, mysteries, visual novels, or graverobbing. Trust me on that last one.
