Shadowlings
Shadowlings had a nice appeal for the first 15 minutes. It looked nice and felt nice. The way combat is done felt like something new. Sadly the initial appeal wears off very quickly and slowly declines into a boring grindfest. You get loads of money and XP with no real need for either of them. I kept waiting for game to become more interesting, but it never did. I even thought the final boss was just a prelude to the real boss. After an easy 1min fight you get a few lines of how you are now the leader of your clan, which btw you were the only survivor of…

Really good game, simplistic but lots of strategy involved. I’m lazy and that’s all I want to type for now, but overall it’s highway robbery at .99 cents. I kind of feel bad buying it that cheap. I think 5-7.50 USD would be a perfect price for this. I’ll come back later or tomorrow when I’m sober and expand on what I think could be improved on a bit. All simple fixes too. Anyways, highly recommended, great 2d top strategic swordfighter game.

Whisper Trip
I really love this game I can’t wait for the next chapters.
– Real player with 8.1 hrs in game
Whisper Trip is a fast-paced, strategic hack and slash, side scrolling, platformer game with a difficulty spike that comes on too strong in the beginning levels of the game. One thing that should be noted, this game is rough to play on mouse and keyboard. I enjoy the general concept and where the difficulty is trending but combined with wonky controls and physics it makes it a very frustrating experience.
It’s difficult for me to give this a thumbs down, I genuinely enjoyed it and found moments of fun and engaging gameplay and because for some people this may be their cup of tea or might be much more adept out of the gate. I found myself getting stuck on walls or spinning endlessly on top of enemies on a corner and other buggy elements that added to the already frustrating element of gameplay where you can expect to die a lot. Sometimes enemies will randomly fire very fast or not when they have other times. There is also no save menu, so if you start a new game accidentally you will lose all your progress, not ideal if multiple people are playing on the same machine.

Black & White Bushido
This is a game about speed, stealth, and lighting. The lighting seems to change at random times.
You play on either the light team or the dark team. If you stand still while in your element (a light team member in the light, a dark team member in the shadow) you disappear from sight, and can hold a button to stay hidden and move slowly. But if you dash (your typical movement speed), your outline becomes a bit easier to see. I’ve found it’s easier to distinguish a moving dark team member in shadow than it was to detect a moving light team member in light, which unbalances it a bit, but it’s not too bad, and I’m sure its something the devs can easily fix.

Short version:
Worth buying at 75% off, if you have friends to play it with. Not worth full price. Don’t expect to find people to play with online.
Long:
Black & White Bushido is a game heavily based on stealth. You can play either Light (white ninjas) or Shadow (black ninja). There are four character models, though (ironically for a game so heavily based on the popular idea of ninjas), none of them are in stereotypical ninja garb. You then choose to play online or offline.
Offline, you can play either against bots or (presumably, since I’ve never tried it) couch two player. The stage is small, so there’s no need for split screen. Online, you can try to find a match, but the matchmaking is extremely barebones. I play with my fiancee, and the only way we can find each other’s matches is by coordinating over the phone. There is no indication of who else is playing, even once you’re in the match. You don’t see screen names, just “Player 1.” Also, as many other reviews have noted, there is virtually no community for this game. If you want to play against a human, bring a friend.

Blade Symphony
Alrighty, its about time edit my review from a long time ago. But first some things I wish to point out.
-
After 900 hours I can be a little biased in favor of this game
-
This is not a game where a person with 1 hour should be reviewing, this game takes much more time to understand and any reviews from these people should be ignored, if you like it or not.
Blade Symphony, released May 7, 2014 by Puny Human Games. This is a game that without a doubt I am addicted too, though idk if that is good or bad, probably bad. From my first day on Blade Symphony spamming with Jian Ryoku, to becoming almost top tier, my journey has been wonderful. I have met tons of people, most of them on my steam friends list and I dont regret anything. Though I feel like im a rare case, for many many players have stopped playing for multiple reasons that ill get too in second.

I have 400 hours aprx. I’ve been with this game for 2 years through thick or thin. This is part review, part history.
tl:dr This isn’t what it used to be. The playerpase is small, but its very tight knit. It’s the kind of community where everyone know’s everyone by name. The gameplay itself is wonky but often fun when you get it right. The learning curve is a brick wall. You’re going to lose a lot when you start. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Almost everyone in master rank would be more than pleased to take you udner their wing, all you have to do is ask.

Sky Sanctuary
When to buy and when not to buy?
If you don’t like reading, check out our video of this review:
Sky Sanctuary is a beautiful archipelago where you can play all kinds of different Samurai mini games. As the game is in early access, there are only a few things to do at the moment.
-
Japanese wood cutting (Tameshigiri)
-
Bow and arrow skill training (Kyudo with 3 modes)
-
and there is a sandbox zone where you can use/try out several Samuari weapons like Shurikens and smoke screen balls.

When I first saw this game I couldn’t help thinking of similar sword slicing VR titles like Fruit Ninja or Katana X, and wondering what would make this game stand out from its competitors. But actually, Sky Sanctuary is probably the more padded out game of the three by presenting itself as a tongue-in-cheek samurai and ninja training game. So whereas chopping things with a katana is an element of all three games, that’s just one component of Sky Sanctuary’s full experience, also offering the ability to walk around the small floating island, shoot a bow, and mess with ninja type goodies like smoke bombs, shurikens and fire staffs. Both the sword and bow experiences are essentially ranked mini-games, with the option to also just mess around the island with them.

Armed with Wings: Rearmed
Having played the original Armed With Wings and its sequels as a kid, I was really excited when this was greenlit for Steam. I always wondered how a small 30min or so flash game would fare and what kind of final product the developers could create.
I gotta say, the final result exceeded my expectations.
SPOILERS BELOW (Though really, the original game has been out for so long that it really doesn’t matter)
The lore behind the first game and its sequels really created a lot of creative potential in expanding the idea of this game. Now that I think about, the gameplay in the original Armed With Wings was a lot less dynamic then its successors. It got to the point where I was confused at how the Lone Warrior was able to defeat Vandheer when he was so powerful in the 2nd game.
– Real player with 20.4 hrs in game
I dsicovered the armed with wings series by pure accident and I played the games since they were released on armorgames.com. I played a bit of the first one,but I wasn’t all too into it. The next game in the series I played was…blood moon I think it was called? It was a good game, but I wasn’t all too into that one either. I was able to tell they were the same game however. Next up,I played armed with wings two, following the story of vandheer lorde. It was right up my alley. The boss fights, the atmosphere, the enemies, the five main weapons of choice you could pick. (One was endgame.) However,it didn’t have it’s own soundtrack at this point if memory serves, just used other music. Didn’t really phase me however. It had been a few years and I had found the third game of the series, this one adding some new twists on the combat system, which I loved so much. You fought with not only your sword, but now with different martial arts styles. (The god styles were the most powerful of course. What would you expect?) Lastly was culmination, which was essentially armed with wings 1 with more polish I guess? I dunno, the game was confusing to me.

Fruit Ninja VR
I have never gotten into this franchise but my wife asked if this was available for Vr a few weeks ago. I just saw it pop up on the Vive Subreddit (great community there btw) and purchased it to suprise her. So far…she hasn’t had a turn. Obviously….I had to test it first! It was much more fun playing than I ever thought it would have been. Not sure if it has to do with VR but I had a blast. Then I discovered the Arcade mode…thats even better!! I hear that the devs are going to put additional features, some new to the franchise for VR and that might add some additional value for the veterns. It runs great as well (using gtx 970). Be carefull though, I just broke my first wrist strap on my ceiling fan. Edited because I before E except after C…thanks phxrocker
