Ninja Issen (忍者一閃)

Ninja Issen (忍者一閃)

「Ninja Issen」 is a retro-style ninja platformer that features a variety of hyper action, 1 vs. many battles, and dynamic boss fights. Paying homage to the ninja games of the classic 8-16 bit era, 「Ninja Issen」 will be full of ninjas, robots, neon lights, and dark atmosphere that overwhelms the streets of the future metropolis.

You will be 「Kiba」, a rogue ninja who was falsely accused of assassinating the grand master of his clan. In his desperate fight to escape from other ninjas trying to avenge his crime, 「Kiba」 suddenly finds himself in the middle of the world he has never seen.

THE GAME

In 「Ninja Issen」, you will always encounter 1 vs. many battles in which you must use everything to survive. The enemies come in many types and designs, large in number and ready to strike wherever you go.

Fortunately, 「Kiba」 is a seasoned and skillful ninja who can overcome dangers ahead of him. Use 「Kiba」’s weapons and abilities to cut down rushing enemies, and explore the future metropolis.

• Katana: 「Kiba」’s main weapon which is highly effective in close combat.

• Shuriken: Used for long-range attack and to deflect enemy projectile.

• Teleport: 「Kiba」 can teleport by throwing his katana to the spot he wishes to reach. Use it to jump between high structures and pass through traps like a pro ninja.

Combine 「Kiba」’s weapons and skills to make your own ninja fighting style.

BOSS BATTLE

Each stage will have a boss that features unique patterns and gimmicks. As 「Kiba」, you will need to find out how to withstand their threatening attacks, and achieve victory in the end.

When the boss' remaining HP reaches a certain point, the battle will move on to phase 2, where it will show new and fiercer attacks. In some of the boss battles you can destroy parts of the bosses, after which slight changes may occur in their patterns.

I dont play stealth games often but this was actually not that bad. Apart from the gore it has. The enemies AI walk into thier own traps HAHA probably the most funny thing about this game I would say you should probably buy this when its on discount otherwise there are better games. Good game. Needs more Updates and Levels

Whisper Trip is a fast-paced, strategic hack and slash, side scrolling, platformer game with a difficulty spike that comes on too strong in the beginning levels of the game. One thing that should be noted, this game is rough to play on mouse and keyboard. I enjoy the general concept and where the difficulty is trending but combined with wonky controls and physics it makes it a very frustrating experience.

It’s difficult for me to give this a thumbs down, I genuinely enjoyed it and found moments of fun and engaging gameplay and because for some people this may be their cup of tea or might be much more adept out of the gate. I found myself getting stuck on walls or spinning endlessly on top of enemies on a corner and other buggy elements that added to the already frustrating element of gameplay where you can expect to die a lot. Sometimes enemies will randomly fire very fast or not when they have other times. There is also no save menu, so if you start a new game accidentally you will lose all your progress, not ideal if multiple people are playing on the same machine.

Cyber Shadow

Cyber Shadow

Cyber Shadow is a very good platformer that does its job quite well by offering a balanced and a fun experience. The fact that it’s been developed by a single person makes this game even more noteworthy. It has sweet sprite work and a basic gameplay that turns into a more complex one as you progress. It’s mostly linear, but you can revisit the previous areas later on to get some HP and SP upgrades for Shadow. However, it certainly does not qualify as a metroidvania title.

The story, when you think about it, is very good. You’ll probably won’t grasp what’s going on on your first playthrough since it can be cryptic at some points, but the more you think about it, the clearer it gets. It basically starts off with an explosion and Shadow, the protagonist, wakes up with cybernetic enhancements and sets out to rescue the rest of his clan from the hands of the mad Dr. Progen. As you progress, you learn more about the characters and I’d easily say that it is very interesting.

Side scrolling action that starts fun but simple before giving you double and wall jumps, parry, a downward strike to bounce off enemies, sprints with a lunging invulnerable slash all leading to more interesting movement. Boss fights are varied in style with good looking enemies, though are pretty easy to beat (even when going for each of their achievement challenges). Good art though not that unique as the future dystopia setting and level backgrounds is fairly common, great soundtrack. There are more hidden pickups that will increase your health or SP for your special attacks but your health mostly increases automatically from beating mid level bosses so you aren’t overly punished for not finding every hidden thing like you would be in most games that do that. The only more difficult parts tend to come from some of the SP increasing items you need to backtrack for.

A Ninja Slayer game?! Subarashii!!

A fantastic top-down shooter in the vein of Hotline Miami, but with gameplay that resembles a Bullet Hell. I have only played two stages and my Karate has grown tenfold.

Edit : I have now played through this game several times, including with the new unlockable character. My Bio-Cyber Enhancements allow me to enjoy this game 10x more than your average mortal, but I nevertheless recommend this game to all game fans. Gouranga!

100% completion.

Ah, Ronin. I have a love-hate relationship with this game, but at least it never lies to me.

THE CONTROLS

The controls, while difficult to get used to at first, are always consistent and usually people saying the controls are inconsistent just aren’t used to the controls and are blaming the game instead of their own actions. It’s possible to do the exact same actions in the exact same order and get the exact same result. I never had huge problems with the controls of the game when I got used to them, although occasionally i would end up targeting the wrong person because two attack icons were right next to each other and I wasn’t paying enough attention to know which one was which.

Street Cleaner: The Video Game

Street Cleaner: The Video Game

I kickstarted this game, and it totally lived up to my expectations. This is the NES game I wanted as a kid. It’s just… fun. Playing it doesn’t feel like a chore. Beating bosses isn’t just a relief, it’s enjoyable learning the patterns and playing through the fights. There are assist and hardcore modes for people who want to modify the difficulty. The music is AMAZING, and it’s even available in NSF format on bandcamp. NSF! That’s nerdy as hell and I couldn’t love it more.

AND you can pet the dog. YOU CAN PET THE DOG!

If you enjoy NES-style games with awesome tunes, buy Street Cleaner.

If you want to watch me lose my mind enjoying Street Cleaner, go ahead and watch my video. Put on Jack Slade’s gloves and motorcycle helmet, then arm yourself with his baseball bat and pistol, and become the Street Cleaner, the only vigilante who can clean the trash off the streets of San Diego. Strangely there’s no trash around, but there are plenty of thugs eager to pick a fight, so they’ll have to do. Combat is simple. The dive-kick (the only move with i-frames) takes skill to abuse without getting killed. And the boss fights are fantastic.
