Shinobi’s Way - a jigsaw chess tale

Shinobi’s Way - a jigsaw chess tale

Eh, for the price it’s okay. The ‘chess’ mode is pretty bad (just jigsaws shaped vaguely like chess pieces), but otherwise the jigsaws are fine. There are only 6 of them though, but with 4 different amounts of pieces and the option to turn rotation on and off it offers just enough variety for the asking price.

Great game but god dang is it difficult not sure if it was the alcohol or the fact my chess I.Q. is 42 but it was a fun little brain boggler killing the Generals was extremely satisfying after trying not to get spanked by some simp rooks/bishops. Not sure how to get all the achievements since I hid in a bush and didn’t get the hide in a bush achievement (got faito achievement at later date which has been included in video thanks to user carmylle on steam) but if you need help on any of the levels. my play through with all levels here: https://youtu.be/xhNwdCEFKZo

Really great minimalist puzzle game. The recent update tripled the content of an already great game, definitely worth the price here. Knights are my least favorite chess piece, but playing them as a ninja may have changed my view of them.

The difficulty scales wonderfully right up until the last level which is very very hard, but just enough to where you feel accomplished when you beat it. The only negative I have here is you can’t pan the camera, only zoom and rotate. Other than that this is a standout of the minimalist puzzle genre.

If you like the card game you will probaly like this game as well. It is a great “port” and the artwork is beautiful as always. I really hope the developers keep adding expansions. At the moment only the base game and awesome level 9000 are included. Please give me my sharknado!

The AI is pretty good and can be quite challenging to everyone but really experienced players. But it is of course way more fun to play other people and I hope this game grows so you can just queue up for a game.

If a developer randomly reads this I have some suggestions for UI improvements:

Smash Up is an excellent card game, and the digital version is fun, but imperfect. The bot AI strikes a nice balance between competence and efficiency, leading to challenging but not impossible games without the frustrating wait times for AI pondering that some other games suffer from.

The UI design prioritizes streamlined gameplay over clarity, so it takes some getting used to to understand what’s going on. It also is not a 100% bug-free game. Both of these issues are manageable, but definitely take some getting used to… don’t turn off the Proceed button, make sure to check the log if something happens you don’t understand, keep an eye on the scrolling text at the bottom of the screen, quit+save+restart+continue if a technical glitch occurs, and if all else fails, ask for help in the forums.

The game is a turn-based strategy game. It has a very simple login screen. You can create a room and invite your friends or you can join another room. However, you will need the room code for this. When you want to join a room, you write your name, write the room code and you join. The nickname writing part is a bit bad, as far as I remember you can use 4 or 5 letters. When you join the game, you will see your soldiers after the room owner chooses a color for you. After choosing the best formation that will be advantageous against your enemy, you are ready for fight. You take turns moving your soldiers and getting them to fight with the enemy’s soldiers, entering the enemy’s territory. I have no idea how to win the game because optimization of the game is so bad that you can get low fps even on a very good computer. Although there is no difference between low quality and high quality in the game, the game may crash when you set it to high. I think these kinds of things will be fixed in the future because game has just been released, but it is wrong for them to sell dlc when the game is in a mess.

It took me a little while to get used to some of the most exotic pieces, but once I did, the experience was delightful!

It’s just fun to cut through enemy pieces while admiring the cherry blossoms in the wind!

A grudging thumbs up. It uses the same engine as the other Pixel Puzzles games since Ultimate, with the same flaws - dumps all unplaced pieces when you leave the game, problems picking from the “pond”, pieces don’t stick together but only in place - and the selection of free packs is a bit sparse; but it’s puzzles, about every month they throw a freebie at you, and the pictures are nice.

I downloaded this game and another jigsaw game on the day of release. I did not expect to like this game because the images are all paintings whereas I prefer photographs. When I started I could not find any option to autosort the border pieces or turn all the pieces the right way up. The other game had all these things.

However I’ve only played the other came for a couple of hours and I have genuinely played this for twenty-seven. Once I started I reasoned that a real jigsaw does not have these aids and I got stuck in. So far I have completed just one of the free puzzles, half of a Flash puzzle that timed out on me and half of the current Flash puzzle and I am really enjoying it.
