Submarine Titans
Submarine Titans was among the Age of Empires RTS era, but capitalized on an elaborate, nearly never ending Tech/Research Tree for each race. This encourages you to either focus heavily on research and tech development, or choose a priority in research. In the Research and Tech areas, this is most equivilent to Warzone 2100. Although ST only has 3 races, each race is very unique to each other in style of gameplay, reflecting the Offense,Defense, and Economic player styles. The responsiveness is sluggish sometimes, and some commands take some patience sometimes, but its worth it! Submarine Titans is really just a great game, and worth spending some time into it.

fantastic game from back in the day. still hangs well, doesnt feel dated. still solid solid graphics and sound.
.
once you get the hang of it, winning through the solo battles is a fairly easy mostly mellow resource aquisition and military conquest romp. if you gain proper control early, you can fool around for an hour or two and completely overwhelm the entire board, capturing enemy stuff instead of blowing it up, mining all the resources and overbuilding bases just for fun.
.
or you can try to build up fast, plow through the enemy quickly, and set a speed record for yourself.

Not gonna lie this game is a very boring game with no redeeming qualities. You can’t do much in the game at all, you can play as Germany and Spain with only 1 map. When you first start the game your objective is to destroy the enemies ships. However you spawn in across the map and it takes forever to move your slow ass ship into fighting range. I’ll give them credit though for being able to change the game speed. However theres only one option, and that is to make the game go twice as fast, and even then it still slower than a Hyundai Pony. When finally you do get into some action, it has to be the most mindless unfun gameplay ever. Playing this game feels like playing a 99 cent dlc. There’s no option for you to shoot the guns manually, instead its your ship’s ai controlling and shooting the guns. The only control you have in battle is being able to move your ship. And battles take so long, it took me forever to finish a battle. Not only that I suspect that this game is being resold as a game called Victorian Admirals that has the exact same scenario and game description. (Hilariously they tried to rebrand the game as “Vegas make it big”)

Sea Dogs: Caribbean Tales
I like the freedom to just do what ever you like in the game as far as pirating/trading/missions. And the open world aspect and the way you can capture ships to upgrade/sell or add to your own fleet.

Blood and Gold: Caribbean!
Tl&dr: whatever you expect from this game (M&B battle style, trading), search for it somewhere else, it is not difficult to find something better.
Mount & Blade engine, extended trading system, naval combat, main story… sounds perfect, what could go wrong? These were my thoughts when I bought this game and I got my answer very quick.. too quick. Everything can go wrong.
Honestly, it feels like someone took Mount & Blade, Sid Meier’s Pirates and Port Royale, stripped all the good parts from all these games and then mashed them together.

Ok, so my review is basically a bug list that needs fixing from the devs:
Crashes when trying to retreat during special missions. Being able to see the battle play out is ok, but your maps often mess up the pathing, and then it can take forever. There’s no way back to the menu screen then.
Not being able to control your men during special missions. If you ask me to do a 31 v 31 skirmish with native gear against armed enemies, then letting me use the basic mount and blade commands would be nice
