Snowstorm of despair

Snowstorm of despair

In this game you have to survive in a severe winter, while waiting for salvation.

Survive in a snowstorm

You and your team need to keep the flame in the fireplace. Look for firewood and fuel the flame or you will have to put it in again.

Cooperation or betrayal?

Only you can decide which side to choose. Will you work with your team or betray them when you have a chance? Maybe, you are a good orator and want to build a good trustworthy team? Or do you prefer to create tension and distrust? Anyway, it is you who makes the final decision.

Features of survival

Appearing in a cosy home with your unlucky teammates, you have to find a way out and collect wood for the fireplace to get warm (you don’t want to freeze to death, do you?). Also, you’ll come across some useful items such as food and additional clothes. But make sure that you’re not lost while searching the way to other houses.

What is hiding in the forest?

Yes, there are “human-monsters”, but also there are ghosts of darkness, which are also dangerous. You thought it would be easy, didn’t you?

The Fisherman - Fishing Planet

The Fisherman - Fishing Planet

I’ve played both Fishing Planet and The Fisherman: Fishing Planet, they are both great and have different issues. One reason I enjoy The Fisherman is that you don’t need to worry so much about making money in the game. You buy licenses one time, travel is cheaper, no cooldown on forwarding the time, and you make baitcoins by catching uniques (a few species gave credits on uniques). I got the game when it was on 60% discount, and I think it’s worth that but would probably think twice for paying full price for it (could be better to spend that money on the regular Fishing Planet instead).

Gave this review after not playing the game enough: This is what Fishing Planet used to be before they decided to change everything. Catch rates are so so much better and it is very much less grindy and believe me I grinded my backside off in Fishing Planet. Still early days but would recommend it but not at £34.99 I shopped around and got it much much cheaper.

Edit 31/01/2020: There is still bugged fish in the game where no matter what you the fish either runs and runs or comes so far in and then runs again.

WTF is artico.

This isn’t ARTICO. this is… Eternal Winter.

They’ve changed the game, changed the name. The review below is now useless.

~~Be wary of some of these reviews, especially the negative ones - for some reason people think that they can play this game for 35mins and ‘see’ everything that it has to offer.

Overall Impressions:

It’s a Zen-like survival game, without zombies. Finally. Or 13yo camp-snipers. Those two aspects alone are reason enough to buy it. It’s permadeath, for you, and your dogs, and you are the village ‘champion’ - if they run out of supplies, they can die, and you lose. GG. Game over.~~

As much as i’d want to, i just cannot recommend this game at this time.

  • Quite nice design and core idea of getting around by dogsled

~ Specific gameplay with a main goal of building up a village and survive storms by means of hunting and gathering

  • Everchanging concepts and mechanics

So far it’s the only Early Access game i seriously regret i bough. For more then a year the game has been sitting in my inventory, it has gone through at least 3 major concept changes, and now it’s only a shade of what i’ve been buying.

Big Farm Story

Big Farm Story

I’ve never left a review for a game, but i felt i should leave one for this game. Firstly, I actually enjoyed this game. With that being said, i do think it has a lot of room for improvement. The biggest issue being the cost of crops vs what they can actually be sold for. I found that 90% of crops could only be sold for maybe 5-7 coins more than what it cost to grow them. And even certain crops say they make more when sold in the market, the difference is maybe 3-5 coins more than if they were just sold normally. This is also a common problem with other profitable items. There’s hardly any real balance, which makes it hard to make any real money even after grinding this game to a pulp in 60 hours after it’s release. The second issue i found with it, is the lack of actual story line. It’s a very slow progression to get anywhere, and then when I got to Chapter 6 I found myself saying “That’s it?” There’s not much to the characters either besides doing quests for them and earning friendship tokens, which just made it… boring. In terms of uniqueness, it is a very basic, linear story. Not really much to it. The MMO aspect was different though, but also random? I enjoy the idea of it, but in actuality the only real play ability with other players is visiting their house, and planting Friendship hummus to get more friendship tokens. Besides that I found it to be almost pointless and more of an inconvenience when trying to interact with quests in the town center. With all that being said, something about this game kept wanting to play more. It is similar to Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon, so it is an overall very mellow and easy game to play. I found it to be very stress relieving because it is so easy to play and get along with. I also believe this is developers first PC game after focusing on more phone games, so it definitely has the phone game feel. Which all the more stresses the fact it has lots of room to improve. I would absolutely come back to check it out after some larger updates in the future, but as of right now I feel I’ve finished everything that is worth accomplishing in the game. I’m excited to see where this game ends up in the future.

Big Farm Story is a cute farming game still under development so I’ll be a little bit patient with the current game’s flaws. The story starts off like most of the farming games, you receive a letter from your grandfather asking you to take over the farm because he has something else he needs to check on. Once you arrived at the farm, you find it in a bad state after the recent storm, but your neighbor’s son Benny offered to help you. Your mission now is to find out where your grandfather is.

Camping Simulator: The Squad

Camping Simulator: The Squad

I’ve only played the Classic Forest so far and content wasn’t that bad, but in it’s current build it is short on content. But hell, that $5 early access experience met my minimal needs for that price. Now, will the Dev’s stay on top of the development of the game or will they just take what monies they get and run, we’ll see., Took a bit to figure out how all of the cooking stuff worked but towards the end of the content I figured out the Mocha Pot was pretty OP, just add wood to the fire to extend it’s cook time. It was only the Chopped Wood I couldn’t figure out a usage for. Deciding on your load out for the backpack at the start is an nice concept for a survival game but once you play it a few times you learn whats not needed in the load out as the game will provide those items for you as loot found in the game. Overall I’ll give it a 6 out of 10 at this time in it’s current development state.

Pretty fun game when in good company! While the content is still quite bare-bones and the game play is not the most complex, it definitely scratches the itch of being able to spend time with your pals in a relaxed manner on an online server. It is what it is and it does it well- a camping simulator with the squad! Would recommend this to individuals who just want to have a chill game session with their gang and catch up with each other over chat; i would say playing over discord is a fun must.

Game time right now is about 2 hours or so while following the tutorial (Having the ability to turn this off and free range the world would be a nice addition) but I am sure the Devs have more coming and I am really excited about what else they have in store for us.

Spirit Island

Spirit Island

(My biases up front, I am a backer on Indigogo, a beta tester, and a fanboy of the developer. I’ve also played a little bit on physical)

The game is an excellent recreation of the physical game. The creator of the physical game was involved in the development of this port and it follows the rules very well.

It should be noted that this game is very dense. There is a ton to keep track of and many rules to keep in mind. The physical game has this problem too. Experienced players will not have too many problems but people new to the game will have to spend some time figuring it out. As of now, the full rule set is available but a full tutorial is slated for the full release. And yes, the rule book is something one would do well to read carefully.

Real player with 220.7 hrs in game

Understand first and foremost, this game is complex, and will melt your brain. A traditional play of this game is done with 2-4 players working together, talking back and forth to help people push back the invaders and win the game.

This doesn’t have online multiplayer [aside from remote hotseat via Steam’s remote play]. So you’re probably going to be playing 2-4 characters yourself.

Suddenly, your options are immensely increased. Playing just 2 characters is much more difficult than just 1 – and 4 player games will melt your brain with the amount of decisions that you’ll be asked to make individually. It’s not an uncommon move to have one character play a card to allow your second character to have enhanced range to move something into range of your third character being able to defeat it along with two other enemies they were going to destroy already.

Animalia Survival

Animalia Survival

So i bought this game Friday at noon… Played it until Saturday 5am… In one sitting i nearly got my $1 = 1hour entertainment. I woke up Saturday at 11am, did my morning routine and now i am going to binge some more. If you are a fan of hardcore survival and animals, this game is right up your alley. Note this game is HARDCORE. So if your animal dies, your going to be starting a fresh new cub(some servers offer adult spawns). Personally for me this keeps the game fresh. Allows you to keep trying out new animals or trying out new point specs for your animals attributes. There are quite a bit of animals already in the game for early access and ALOT more on the road map ahead. I heard 36 African animals are planned.

I do hope they never give up on this game and keep adding more to it .I can see this going beyond what it is now already.

You can also join my Discord-Server to stay up to date, sometimes I am also looking for people to test new functions. Of course, you can also talk to like-minded people there and make new friends who might want to play with you.

Idea behind this game

The idea behind this game is that animals and plants only appear in their native biomes before humans have messed everything up, including species that have been extinct and exclusive, introduced new species by humans.

ATTENTION

This game was and is being developed by a single person.
