Song of Iron
A commendable effort from this solo dev…
First off, huge kudos to the solo dev for putting together this game alone. It’s impressive, and the fact that it’s only a solo dev behind the game should be taken into consideration when reading my review of the game. And ontop of that, the 2 BIGGEST issues that I have with this game, are completely fixable, so if the dev wants to, then they can certainly get a positive review from me once those are fixed.
Pros: #1. It looks very pretty
#2. The combat sounds and also music are on-point

An amazing and gorgeous product from a single-man production. Just take it for what it is and you’ll get a couple of enjoyable hours out of it.
- You can pick up different weapons (sword, axe, spear…) which apparently cause the same amount of damage. I just choose the one I liked the most and stayed with it until the end. Shields lose their usefulness in the second half of the game, or once you realize that offense is the best defense. They also break easily.
Bow, which is part of your initial equipment, is a welcome addition to the arsenal. It can be a powerful tool when aiming for those headshots! It’s always fun to pull on the string and drop the ones foolish enough to charge at you without a shield.

Searching for objects in the forest
The game only has potential if you have young kids to play with as it’s always the same items asked, the level are only 4 different areas where you’ll have to find the same items.. You get the gist of it.
Some words certainly are weird translations or brands instead of modern naming, and some others dont correspond to what it’s supposed to be.
Examples :
Requested item Item in the forest
Leaflet maple leaf
Dichlofos Insect repellant
Field Glasses binoculars
Flashlight Lantern
Those certainly need to be renamed properly, as it is, it’s kind of ridiculous.

Nowhere New
TLDR: If you like indies, play this game. Its story and atmosphere are well worth a few hours of your time.
This is not a full size game. It was created by a small group of students on no budget, and it shows. However, for that size and scope, it is impressively complete. I greatly enjoyed the couple hours I spent playing.
Narrative:
The writing is very strong. The mystery is intriguing, the characters are likable and complex, and the story is well constructed. There are several emotionally impactful story beats; at various points I felt shock, anger, suspense, horror, compassion, etc. I enjoyed the prevailing theme of identity, trust, and how our experiences shape who we are. Also, LGBT rep is a plus!

Even though the game has unappealing visuals, I thought that the writing was very strong and I liked most of the characters. However, I ultimately was disappointed with the experience because the ending felt very anticlimactic, a big exposition dump to what otherwise was a mysterious story that could have gone in many ways. We play as a character that crashlands on a mysterious world where inhabitants lose their memories as they share them with other people. The game presents memory share as a mechanic but it’s somewhat cosmetic, for the most part, the story is pretty linear and you can only trade a few memories for a couple of hints, although I cannot confirm that as I decided to keep them. I wouldn’t say that it has any puzzles, you just have to talk to the characters in the right order, it’s not too convoluted. If anyone cares you can complete the game in about 90 minutes.

KEEP OUT
I’ve spent a long time debating my feelings on this game. When I first saw the demo and some of the artwork, I really thought this would be an amazingly fun game. But, instead, it mostly fell flat. While the visuals are pretty chef’s kiss beautiful… the gameplay and actual storyline (if you can call it a storyline?) was unfortunate. So many points were boring and beyond the few “EEP” moments in the beginning, once you recognize the sounds or enemies it’s just dull and repetitive. The game doesn’t do well to guide you in some points, like the water “level”, so you spend too much time watching the same death scene over and over again. Let us not forget the very strange hit boxes sometimes. I definitely do not recommend this game and I greatly wish I could’ve gotten a refund. Weaveractive, if you’re reading this… I hope you use that money to make a better storyline and overall game. Please and thanks.
