Captain Firebeard and the Bay of Crows

Captain Firebeard and the Bay of Crows

This pirate game (long title, can’t be bothered to write it all down) is a charming kinetic novel with a pac-man style minigame. They really should have just written that on the blurb instead but I understand that such a concise description isn’t great for marketing so you’ll have to get your gospel truths from me!

In my usual style I will rattle through my categories:

Story, Writing & Characters

The plot is interesting and has a splash of real history, which I like a lot. Too many times have I seen things set in the Golden Age of Piracy where certain elements are taken from completely different centuries and then smashed together into one, ignoring historical accuracy. I can tell that everything here is really well researched and correct. The writing was sharp, witty and period accurate. The characters feel realistic and consistent and you do feel that you are on an exciting adventure, which is essential in a pirate tale. I liked the jokes a lot, especially those surrounding the hapless captain and his unlucky crew. My favorite character was probably Lady Wendy; something about powerful, calculating women just does it for me… mmmm Teresa May…. I also enjoyed that a fellow Frenchman was shown as being a bad-ass pirate hunter! That was maybe the best bit for me! Vive La France!

Shipwreck Escape

Shipwreck Escape

So I wrote a review around half way through the game. Im new to reviews and wanted to edit mine now that I finished the game.

The game itself is fun. Some levels feel super easy and come to you right away while other levels take some time and “trial and error” before you understand what needs to be done. There are multiple endings so if you want to at the end you can go through again just to unlock these different endings. For me it took about 9 hours to complete but being a puzzle game, some probably could do it much quicker!

## Half Blood RPG

I need to know something about this game… when you enter the Desert Temple and go through the spike traps and make it into the next area with the moving boulders. I got reset to the beginning of the dungeon with no ways to reactivate the boulders to move i cant get passed one of the boulders to go where i left off. I'm concerned there is a bug im dealing with or is there something I'm missing?

## Aurora: A Child's Journey

Aurora: A Child's Journey is well done. There are a few areas where the game tried to glitch and the controls can be sometimes clunky, but besides that, it was simple and straight to the point. It was nice to play from the perspective of a young child and also an interesting concept of how they see things that are well…not pretty in this world. It can be sad to learn that the game was inspired by true events but also eye-opening to situations that many may not know. The achievements are easily earned as you play through the game and not as complex as the game is very short. Take a chance if you want to see the world in the young girl's eyes and maybe you will learn something along the way.
