Legends of Murder Collection

Legends of Murder Collection

This set of games from 1989 were ahead of their time, and are a delight to play now. Steam DOSBox integration has the games running smoothly with modern resolutions, with few adjustments needed. These games feel like a past retro version of RPG maker, and it’s uncanny how intuitive they are to play today. Highly recommend - just make sure you use the interact key everywhere, because characters and objects are often invisible.

I did like this game quite a bit. 7/10 if I had to put a number on it. 8/10 if it were longer. The game does a fair job of making you like most of the characters at least a bit. The story is interesting enough, and does a good job keeping you guessing as to what is going on in the big picture. I think the only real flaw I can think of is more of a game design pet peeve. The ending you get is largely, if not entirely dependent on your final decision. I like it a lot more when choices throughout the game determine the ending, rather that the final scene being the game changing moment for the whole story. Still though, it’s a good game, creepy enough, fun to play, good story. Would recommend.

Really fun game, clever puzzles without being frustrating or way too easy (looking at you skyrim) a whodunit kind of plot with Phoenix Wright/Danganroppa style interludes in between puzzle sections, did scare me quite a few times and the overwall plot of what happened in the monastery in the past and how it relates to what is happening now i really enjoyed.

Its Fairly short ate around 2:30ish hours depending on how well you do with the puzzles but its well made,no boring padding and barely any backtracking trough previous areas, maps feel cleverly designed with its connection to previously visited areas trough new entrances,it is a simple game but a very well made one, highly recommend

Little One - A Visual Novel

Little One - A Visual Novel

Considering that is my first VN game I ever played, this is honestly great, I am not fan of VN titles since they really bore me if I only keep reading dialogues, but this one hooked me up that I have to play many times to get and understand what is going on since I keep getting bad ending for Jake.

I’m still trying to get the rest of the ending and the true ending. But I didn’t expect that a game would actually make me think of my decisions since the money is also limited and I have noticed that one time I did extra work 3x Jake went from Calm to Average that I avoided it in some part of the game, but made me miss an item that is very crucial to unlocking some of his scenes that will give your trust an increase. So far my highest trust is 119 and I heard that you need to get past 120 in order to get a decent ending. All I have left is Andy’s ending and I will continue playing this until I get all the endings.

LITTLE ONE

“Can you take care of him for a while?"

Reading a visual novel set in the early 1900s is not something I expected, while browsing Reddit I saw an advertisement for the game. With over seven hours in the game, I am yet to even achieve half of the endings. While far from being Dark Souls, expect something on the difficult side compared to other games of the genre. You can’t brute force your way through the VN thanks to the RPG mechanics.

You must take care of Jake, a traumatised and shaken boy who shows signs of psychosis and abuse. This is no simple task both for you and the aged woman you play as.

It has my recommendation for solid writing and an intriguing little mystery, but the emphasis is on little.

Maybe this was my bad luck, but I happened to get to the bottom of the mystery on my first playthrough, about 40 minutes in. I’ve played through it a few more times since then and while it’s possible I’ve missed some side stories, and I haven’t gotten a halfway “good” ending yet, without the central mystery to drive the plot my willingness to keep playing is mostly gone. Most branching narrative games in this vein lock the True Ending type story behind a few playthroughs for a reason.

This game’s great! The writing, art, and music are all really well done. The characters feel original and unique, and aren’t ripoffs of another certain mystery-solving team that may have served as their inspiration.

Game’s short, I got through it in 4 hours with some interruptions and messing around. I could see someone blasting through it in 20 minutes. Short but sweet, I’d love to see more Mystery Team games in the future!

Rebellion Gaia

This is the best RPG since final fantasy 7 and it’s genius stepson spiritual successor. Took a solid 70 hours to beat it and I enjoyed every minute. Full of red pills, humor and good storytelling. A gem. A real treasure.

This game is a lot of fun… and quite hilarious. Yes the voice overs are awesome!!! But the references to real life are bang on. I can’t wait to dive deeper into this game as I have only played for a few hours up to this point but trust me, if you like RPGs, this game will hopefully spread some awareness to the unaware and provide knowledge in areas that you may already be familiar with. Plus the proceeds go to a good cause and I will support this crew anytime I can. Thank you for this game!

Samael

Samael

Summary

People say that if you walk alone at night there might appear an ancient creature to trap your soul into his realm.

Would you simply try to escape or would you attempt to unravel this mystery?

This is the story of this game, inspired by the obscure creepypasta called only Samael.

The main character is a young man named Jason, who, after a long day of work, came home to meet his brother but found this demonic figure standing in front of him instead.

“I am Samael, the son of many but without kin, i exist within the wicked minded and deceased.”

Now trapped into the realm of this monster, he must travel through limbo in order to uncover the truth of his brother’s disappearance, and, hopefully, find a way back to the world of the living.

Features

  • A creepypasta retold in the form of a horror game

  • Atmospheric ambients of a world between life and death

  • The feeling of helplessness of oldschool horror games

  • Side stories of those who were trapped into Samael’s realm

  • A chilling main story covered in suspense

  • Original sprites and artwork

  • Multiple endings

Sherlock Holmes - Nemesis

Sherlock Holmes - Nemesis

Ah, “Holmes: Nemesis”. In fact, who the heck is Arsene Lupin? Isn’t Moriarty usually Holmes' nemesis? Ah, well.

This game is different from all other Holmes games, in that you know who the culprit is, you just need to catch him.

As such, you pretty much spend your time playing his wretched ‘game’ of cat-and-mouse, where Lupin deliberately leaves clues to his next hit, and you have to follow along.

Like “Holmes: Awakened”, you get standard features like Holmes Vision and Teleportation, which are very handy in the game. But, unlike other games, this game involves a lot of mathematical work. AUUUGH. Maths.

Real player with 24.3 hrs in game

TL;DR: If you like Sherlock Holmes, detective games or even point-and-click adventures, stay away. If you enjoy extreme (digital) legwork, pixel hunting and math, have a ball.

I can see that this game (AKA “Sherlock Holmes Versus Arsène Lupin”) was made with some degree of care. Voice acting is good; dialogue is well written and with great sense of humour; I also loved the

! works of art in the

! National Gallery and the radically different comments about them by Holmes and Lestrade.
