Enjoy a carefully crafted environment of medieval architecture and futuristic gadgets. Intelligent robots walk the streets of manually carved stone, power banks light up antique lamps, and typewriters serve as input devices for powerful computers.

Puzzles and mini-games
Logic and diversity was the key to our work on this most significant aspect of the game. Just like in traditional adventure game most puzzles are tied up with objects, but there are also conversational puzzles and a whole bunch of logical mini-games.

RUSA Odyssey
RUSA Odyssey is a third-person exploration game set in the post-apocalypse world. Play as a lone deer and travel to the unknown world. Discover the story and mystery that lies along the way.

Some Distant Memory
Some Distant Memory is a slow paced short exploration game clocking in at about four hours. Its set 300 years after the end of civilisation, with humanity only surviving in small protected colonies. Not much has survived from before the The Bloom and when your historian character accidentally stumbles upon a fully preserved city undamaged by The Bloom you begin using your AI to try and reconstruct a vision of that lost past, what times were like, what people where like, back before things were destroyed by ecological disaster.

If I am being completely honest, I did not enjoy the narrative in the first half of the game, but toward the end, it managed to win me over. Still, it’s a beautiful experience with an immersive soundtrack, so it really depends if you want to play a ‘text-oriented’ game in the first place. Going into this post-apocalyptic adventure, I was hoping for more free exploration, but you are mostly limited to a funnelled narrative, so I was somewhat disappointed in that regard (this is what we call a walking simulator). The gameplay comes down to exploring rooms and reading a few notes, there is not much else to it. You can complete it around 90 minutes, sadly there are no achievements or any optional locations that I know of.

Richard & Alice
Overview
Intriguing story set in a post-apocalyptic world that centres around a man named Richard and his prisoner counterpart, Alice. You take turns playing as either Richard or Alice, though Alice’s part is far greater, and her story is told entirely through flashbacks (i.e. events that have already transpired).

- Good story - Far too predictable for my liking, but still interesting. The use of flashbacks as a way of unfolding the tale was fascinating; I always felt like I wanted to find out more and that kept me playing.

Richard and Alice strikes me as a hybrid mix of point & click adventure meets visual novel. Let’s start out with the high points here. The story of Richard and Alice is absolutely compelling with a particular high note being the well written dialog between characters. The conversational segments in the game flow naturally and realistically. At no point did the dialog seem stilted or poorly written. This is a particularly notable feat when one considers the amount of dialog between Alice and her 5 (and a half!) year old son Barney. It’s hard to write children’s dialog between parent and child in such a way that it seems natural. Most novels can’t get this sort of thing right, let alone the medium of video games. I think you almost have to be a parent yourself in order to effectively write this sort of dialog, and IMO Richard and Alice excels at it. Creating emotional connection between the player and the in game characters is critical to this games success, and thankfully it nails this part.

Midnight: Submersion - Nightmare Horror Story
Money well spent!
I played the game for 11 hours because I just couldn’t get over the nostalgia the old-school visuals gave me. I haven’t played a horror game in a loooong while, but I just couldn’t resist; I played it all night and was late to my university in the morning - and I have no regrets.
The closest comparison I can make is that its kind of like a Lovecraft’s Novel - it’s perfect for a comfy little Saturday evening to just cuddle up in a blanket, with a cup of coffee and get lost in the gameplay.

Outstanding game, I was scared most of the time by the nature of the creepy mannequins who kept showing out of nowhere, I like horror games but this was different and nice for a change, The puzzles can be quite challenging but you will always find clues on how to solve them if you walk around enough. Overall i’d give it a 9/10, only reason why it doesnt have a 10/10 is because it has no coop option. They should consider adding it on the future.

ESPRESSO SHOT REVIEW
While Dead Synchroncity is not a bad game, it’s just not as intriguing as I was expecting. There is nothing to pull you into the game. While not incredibly difficult, and fairly well done, the game lacks a deep story or inventive puzzles. Score: 4.5/10.

There aren’t many companies that can claim the same amount of devotion to a single genre than Wadjet Eye Games can towards adventure games. Their latest entry, Shardlight, doesn’t stray too far from the design mindset they’ve carved within adventure gaming in the last decade – and while this more than often works to its benefit it sometimes also, much like its other recent adventure games that haven’t strayed too far from the beaten path, detracts from the overall experience.

Shardlight is a retro style Point & Click Adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic world. If you are a Point & Click fan you may already know and enjoy several games by Wadjet Eye. In that case, you will likely enjoy this game as well. It’s not their best game, but it is a decent play.
Wadjet Eye is great at creating immersive games with interesting stories and characters and this is no exception. You play as Amy and you’re infected with a plague called “Green Lung” trying to get treatment which is limited, and the story soon evolves beyond that to a certain level of espionage and rebellion against a corrupt, oppressive government. You go through some self-discovery learning new information about your family and friends as well as gaining a greater understanding of your world. There’s a moderate amount of character development that occurs and a few less predictable twists. The script was well written so there aren’t really any awkward conversations and the dialogues are all good at driving forward story and gameplay.

BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION
For those of you who might be considering buying this as a Fallout-like game set in a post-apoc South Africa..don’t. While it may appear otherwise at first its entirely a point and click adventure game that while fun has little in common with Fallout. Combat is limited to a handful of incidents, always involves some sort of proxy, and outside of a single instance is purely optional. Something that can be missed if your not careful along with the bits it unlocks.
Now for the unpleasant bit.
! I really wanted to like this game, I really did. I found the setting charming, its NPCs well rounded, and the story had me hooked…right up until the literal last minutes of the game. When you finally talk with Darius after realizing (something I suspected since the start) that you were playing out a pre-written prophecy jotted down by an entity who does not see time as a straight line.

Move aside Afrofuturism, District 9, Black Panther, Elysium, Chappie and all you other African takes on sci-fi, because one thing’s for sure… I can easily tell you that I’ve never seen anything quite like the world of Beautiful Desolation.
If you are South African like me, then you must already know that you’re gonna experience it in a slightly different way to the rest of the world and may get a kick out of various elements that feel familiar to home. Beautiful Desolation is without a doubt, a whole new bag of Simba chips. It launches you into a future so far ahead that the South Africa you might know (and the people who lived there) are completely unrecognisable. The more this story of crazy futures and prophecies unfolds, the more interesting it becomes.
