Hagia Sophia VR Experience

Hagia Sophia VR Experience

This is basically one single level room. It’s a very nicely done single level room with some neat audio attached to the objects in it but within minutes I’d come to the conclusion that I wasn’t keeping this ‘game’. There just isn’t enough to it to keep me interested for even the two hours after which Steam won’t refund my purchase. I intend to go through it a bit more and then delete it. I’d rather have the $5 back than keep it.

Unfortunately, this is a half-assed “experience” that is limited only to a part of the ground floor of Hagia Sophia. You do not get access to the top floors or to certain parts of the ground floor. Additionally, it is chock full of translated verses of the Quran instead of providing historical information on this magnificent masterpiece of a building. Perhaps the developers are attempting to promote the Islamic religion, as I really cannot find a convincing explanation as to why verses of the Quran have been placed throughout the building instead of something more relevant to the experience. Additionally, it can only be experienced as an overlay of steamVR, otherwise it won’t work. There is no option to adjust the video settings in spite of this experience being clearly non-optimised for PC as evidenced by the horrible amount of tearing I experienced in spite of running it on RTX 2080 ti. and a 9900k processor I do not recommend bothering with this experience.

Do not buy this game. There are better flash player games out there. Simplistic platformer that has very little in terms of everything. The game looked totally different when first uploaded to steam by the way.

Broken Thorns: West Gate

Broken Thorns: West Gate

Shadowgate style game mixed with self-reflective, thoughtful dialogue and options.

Lots of surprises and humor, too.

Some of the artwork is incredible.

Can’t recommend this enough, it’s definitely on my all-time favorites list!

Such a nice game, I played this for a while, I love how you reflect in mirror’s, and the story is taking me closer to myself. When you consider all these questions on your own life, not just game progress, it can show you who you really are. How others see you. How weak you are. Worth the price.

Unforgotten

Unforgotten

Great game. Short, but definitely worth it. I love that there are multiple chapter points you can choose so you don’t have to play through the whole story again in order to get to the different endings. There are some minor translation errors, but nothing too bothersome. It’s very compelling. I would love to see more detail about the folklore involved. I felt like a lot of legends were referenced but not much was really explained, like it could all be chalked up to one cultish village and their weird traditions. If these references have a more historic root in Slavic tradition, as a slav by ancestry myself, I’d love to hear it. 7/10

I feel obligated to say I would recommend this because I did get scared, but the scares were just loud noises.

I was really thinking of things to say about this game(good or bad) so here is my too detailed review:

The game is CRAZY dark, the first couple of minutes before I got the flashlight I had to increase the brightness on the video. The description was correct as in there aren’t any jump scares OR any pictures that show up in your face with a scream. (left click shoots the gun BUT also left Ctrl shoots the gun which scared me……twice)

Update!

After tending to some personal life stuff, the Dev has returned with a large patch that cleans up a lot of the graphics and added quite a few things. I’m really happy to change my review to a positive one.

Combat is working fine and now I just need to play through the story to see what it’s all about. It looks pretty good so far. Fingers crossed that I don’t get too scared!

Original Review:

This was a neat little indie game that was seeing regular development which suddenly halted in the middle of June. I tried reaching out to the Dev a few times, but they are unresponsive. The game was marked as released before it was really finished and now it feels incomplete.
