Joking aside, what would you do if your childhood sweetheart was a great Tango dancer, and you discovered that you actually had not two, but three left feet? You’d probably ask someone to help you out, right? That is exactly what Luciano did. He asked his best friend Julio to teach him how to find the secret of his right foot. Otherwise, it would truly become El Tango de la Muerte!

It's mostly mundane and slice of life, at least on the surface. There is a lot going on behind the scenes and while there are some clues, it doesn't really come together until the very end. One very big plot point requires a little suspension of disbelief, but this same reveal also relies on the concepts of love and faith. The reason I'm so unsure is because it has a LOT of flaws, some of which I would say probably doesn't make it worth the slog of playing it, but having persevered all the way through to the end, I did experience some things that I really enjoyed. But does it balance out? I'll try to find that answer now. Symphonic Rain's premise is right up my street; the story plays out in a music school as the protagonist is attempting to graduate, working towards a musical ensemble between the player and the heroine of your choosing. I also really like how all of the background visuals have a hand drawn look to them - it's a refreshing change from stock photo style pictures of schools and the like you see in a lot of VNs. The way the character sprites blink their eyes also adds something - it's a small animation but it brings the characters to life more. The game's themes on that basis are fantastic, and I was really looking forward to playing the game. However, from the first playthrough, of which I did many, as I wanted to experience all possible endings, it became apparent that there were some rough edges to the game, and with each route I took, the flaws got more and more major to the point where I wasn't really enjoying myself - the only thing that pushed me through in the end was to find out what the truth behind the plot really was, feeling a bit like a morbid curiosity considering I was struggling to stay entertained at times. Besides, it's not _that_ important. The feelings and experience are all that matters. As Maya Angelou famously said: I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. The same is fair for video games - you may forget many details about them, but you will always remember how some of them made you feel. And **Florence**? Like I said in other reviews before, don’t expect complex gameplay, just enjoy the emotional ride, and oh boy, does this game deliver in that regard. If you’ve ever been in a relationship or else before, this really presses the one or other button. Could even hurt, too, to watch this, so take this as a word of warning. But if you can make yourself free of that, Florence is an exceptional tale through the mindscape of a young woman and her partner, falling in and out of love. There are no real puzzles (the few that are actually there serve as a brilliantly executed metaphor as well), nor are there any difficulties. Really, it’s just pure storytelling in its highest degree. I guess you either love or hate it, but honestly, I just adore those games, true art in my opinion, with all the little attention to the tiniest details. By the way, music is fantastic as well, extremely emotional piano & strings numbers you would even buy extra (but luckily it’s already included for free, so check out the soundtrack), sometimes tragic, yet inspiring, and all original compositions. I just can’t praise this game enough, and if you’re a bit into emotional and artsy titles, and like French movies (though the game is Australian ;)), please, please give it a try. Yeah, I don’t say this often, for me it’s a must-buy (even though it's very short), but that’s how good it is.
