Dominique Pamplemousse

Dominique Pamplemousse

The primary accomplishment in Dominique Pamplemousse isn’t gameplay. It’s character. Dominique Pamplemousse believes so strongly in its characters that everything else — even gameplay — is secondary. Tons of gameplay hours, plenty of missions and activities with an awesome collection of vehicles of various modes of transportation and a large array of firearms put the grandeur once again into Dominique Pamplemousse. This game deserves a better user score. I hope nobody takes it serious, because there are a lot of butthurt fakevotes.

I can’t in good conscience consider this a good game I can recommend, but it was interesting watching it fail at what it’s trying to do, and at least it’s an original concept.

The only way I can describe it is as a stop motion musical in a point & click framework. It mostly fails at all these three things, mainly by looking, sounding and playing as the work of an amateur. The art style is distinct, but the stop motion isn’t all that good. Still, it’s charming. The music and highschool-musical-theater singing are also kinda charming, at least once you realize that the singing is off key and rather bad “on purpose”, but you still can’t call them good. The point & click elements are barely there, with no real choices and no real puzzles, just serving to move you forward in the story.

Pride Run

Pride Run

Pride run is an unapologetically gay, bright, and fun rhythm game with bangin' music! I don’t play a lot of rhythm based games, I can probably count just on one hand how many I’ve played, but I really liked this, and the mode with the RTS elements really makes it stand out from other games of the genre.

As it says in the description, the game has two modes; Vanilla Mode and Play Hard Mode. Double entendre aside, Vanilla Mode is the standard rhythm-based part of the game. You lead a Pride parade through different levels based on real cities from around the world, smashing the arrow keys in time with the music. The bigger the combo you string together and the more accurate you are with pressing the keys or controller buttons, the more people will join the parade.

Pride Run, saw this game had a free weekend so I decided to try it. Overall there is a decent rhythm game here, couple that with the good art and the gameplay itself and you have an overall fairly queer experience. I would recommend the game to anyone interested in it, maybe not for the full twenty dollar price tag but I can say at least that the games not bad.

If you have played Dropmix, it is very much like that, but on steroids.

2/19/2021 Edit: This review has been redone to currently reflect the game post 1.3 patch update.

Personally, I love this game, the hours played represents that, and personally, I grew up with Harmonix and their music games so t heir marketing is nothing new to me. Each DLC song is 1.99/USD and is purchased separately, which while is a shame there are no packs available, it does allow you to pick and choose which songs you wish to use in the game. The initial set is enough to get you going and through several hours on their own. The mixing itself is very intuitive for a game and I daresay you can entertain a small party or gathering by playing this game. I’ve done twitch streams that were several hours long just jamming to the games Freestyle mode with a custom crate I assembled with different songs, instruments, and sound effects/modifiers. The game comes with 4 main modes, Campaign, Freestyle (and Coop Freestyle where people play together and if the lobby is big enough, a small audience that can make requests of songs or instruments or genres), Battle, and Social Events. The game comes with an integrated mix capture option where you can record up to 128 bars and export it as a video format to share on social media, YT, Twitch, etc.

Rhythm of the Gods

Rhythm of the Gods

For $9 it’s an alright game. The music and graphics are quite charming but there aren’t many levels and half of the songs are remixes. The story can be boiled down to some young gods throwing parties because it’s what they love to do. The difficulty scales pretty fast but at no point does it feel like an unreasonable jump in difficulty from one song to the next. There is an endless mode and a timewarp mode that adds a speed multiplier to the songs for added difficulty so in that regard it’s a good game if you want something challenging. The ending leads me to believe the developers might release more games in the series but that’s just speculation until proven otherwise.

A Great, But Rather Short Rhythm Adventure

Rhythm of the Gods, as you can probably tell from the title, is a rhythm game where you have to make your way through a slew of enemies and obstacles while following the music of several different gods that you meet along the protagonist, Lyrik’s, journey.

The Good

-Although short, the story of the game is rather charming, and I liked reading through the dialogue the game had to offer.

-The gameplay is simple, but can be very challenging depending on what difficulty you set.

Gachi Revenge

Gachi Revenge

I never expected a game I got as a joke to be genuinely decently designed, although the first boss in particularly is way too difficult, even compared to the other 3. Surprisingly fun and good.

I also ended up replaying it a lot on Discord calls when I was making fun of bad/joke games with friends.

Bruh! This game is fun but it really need adjustments.

  • Fix difficulty (give a checkpoint on gym boss, lower Aniki’s broken strength.)

  • Fix hitboxes on Boss

  • Maybe add one or two famous song in it (youtube poop)

  • Let us play the other characters

  • Controller support

  • Make the Flex power better cause useless through out the whole game.

Otherwise take this for the Meme, it’s worth it.

Kind Words (lo fi chill beats to write to)

Kind Words (lo fi chill beats to write to)

This is not a game. This is a community of kind strangers helping each other with kind words. Your only reward will be nice music and rooms to decorate. But that truly is enough. Kind words are not for those who seek rewards or validation. You don’t meet or talk or make friends with anyone. Kind words isn’t made for that. It is just meant to be kind words spoken without reward or consequence between strangers. And in doing just that Kind Words elevates itself. It truly becomes a place where you can seek kindness from strangers, when real life deals you a bad hand.

I bought this game a long time ago on a recommendation from a friend, but never picked it up. Then one day recently I was feeling really down and useless about myself. I didn’t really want to play any of my usual favourites and I remembered I had this and thought I’d give it a go.

At first I thought it might be fun to vent into the aether (and I got some lovely responses), but soon I realised that replying to other people’s messages and helping where I thought I could felt great. So many people were going through things I’d been though and could help with. It’s a thoroughly charming game with so many enDEERing features, I’d recommend it to anyone whether you’re feeling good or bad. It’s the sort of game where playing for 15 minutes can make you feel better about the day.

Sayonara Wild Hearts

Sayonara Wild Hearts

This game touched me in a way no other game did before. The gorgeous visuals and the best ost I ever heard, paired with a compelling and subtle narrative, and gameplay that is simple but engaging turns It into an experience that transcends the limitations of its own media.

The only downside this game has is that its visuals, despite being one of Its strongest points also limits its acessibility. My girlfriend is photosensitive and this game is not easy on her eyes, which is a shame, since I wish she could experience Sayonara wild hearts as well.

Teenage Blob

Teenage Blob

Hello there Ladies and Gentlemen. My name is Mitch Larson, and I’m here to tell you about An awesome game called Teenage Blob.

This Game is brilliant. Let’s talk about it. The controls are fairly simple. you just use keyboard arrow keys and space bar etc. The controls are smooth. And the gameplay is really fun. There’s a lot of different minigames and there’s a lot of achievements for this game too.

Music gets a 10 out of 10 because the music in this game is absolutely stellar. Seriously, completely awesome music. Written and played by the SuperWeaks.

Finally, a game I can play as a blob.

Honestly, I never got to go to a concert. I know, lame, but I can’t help that my family couldn’t afford concert tickets back then anyway. The one concert I was actually able to attend actually got canceled at the last minute (totally not still salty). And now when we’re better off now, I live in a town where nothing happens and if I do want to attend something I’ll have to travel a long distance to just get there (my dreams of going to anime/gaming conventions are crushed). Well, if I was never able to go to a concert, I might as well go to one in a game.

Disney High School Musical 3: Senior Year Dance

I am terrible at games like this but i decided to get this because High School Musical was a huge part of my childhood. I thought I would hate it but once I started I ended up liking it. The character’s look horrible but I think that’s what gives this game it’s charm. It’s the type of game that’s so bad it’s good.

Hiveswap Friendsim

Hiveswap Friendsim

A surprisingly essential story of love and friendship in our modern age.

Hiveswap Friendsim shocked me with the depth of its characters, worldbuilding, and the power of its message. For those new to the series, Friendsim is a charming and newbie-friendly introduction to the world of Alternia that’s been catching fandom attention for almost a decade. For experienced veterans, this game provides vital worldbuilding detail, crucial context for both Homestuck and Hiveswap, and a bevy of characters to engage with and grow invested in.

Real player with 35.3 hrs in game

I am a Homestuck fan, by extension a HiveSwap fan, and this game is good supplemental material for before the second act!

Fairly cheap: each installment, two “friend-able” trolls in each, cost $0.99. That’s one $0.99 for the base game, and it seems like an extra $0.99 for each DLC set of trolls. Try the base game and see if you want more. It won’t exactly break the bank.

People looking for a straight up dating sim kind of experience won’t get that here, I’m afraid. The character routes themselves are very short and easy to navigate. It’s more about introducing these characters to us and seeing more of the world of Alternia before the release of HiveSwap: Act 2.
