CRYPTIC

Great game I’ve been enjoying and replaying ! After playing “Stories Untold” and “Open Sorcery”, I was looking for another game that would allow me to “type in” my way through the story ! It uses all your imagination to find your way, find the clues and avoid the “Game Over” traps. Original and excellent kind of game !

Very intriguing, solid, old-shool IF. This is only my first impression after 1h of gaming but my opinion is at moment very good. If you are a enthusiast of the text adventure genre like me this is a mandatory purchase. Thanks to Shoho Games to keep alive this type of games, I’ll buy all your next games!

Nightingale

Nightingale

A bit of background : I have played both acts of Shadows on the Vatican to the end. And I am also old enough to have played every Infocom text adventure when they first came out. So I was really looking forward to Nightingale.

Alarm bells rang when I found I couldn’t save whenever I wanted but I must say the branching system works well whenever you wish to change any earlier decision. I have managed to get a few different endings in one playthrough – and not a save file in sight.

I found the pacing of the text worked well, introducing a sense of tension that might not have been there otherwise.

Nightingale

This was a very interesting read; I was intrigued!

  • Clean crisp user Interface

  • Story: Not one I have seen covered

  • Excellent music that reflects the tone and pacing in the scene.

The protagonist in this Text Adventure has a special talent. The Nightingale has been helping people for years with their paranormal gift. One person that the Nightingale helped is a professional assassin. That creates a dilemma.

This is a short-story set in the “Shadows on the Vatican” universe, but you need not have played them.

Silent Earth

Silent Earth

The situation, characters and call for action are all set up well for the beginning of a great story. There are lots of nice themes being built that could take this game in so many different directions. An ambitious adventure for the characters and ambitious plot for the writers. Although, I only came to one of the endings. I hope they all sound as interesting as the one I ended with.

I hope the developers aren’t finished yet. This free game doesn’t feel like a full game but rather a test or set-up for a future, more detailed game. I think the plot and characters are interesting enough to go all the way. Please continue the story! A Mass Effect-like world would be fun if you have the budget! :D A point n click would work too. And, again, if it remains text-based (cuz text-based is cool, too), need to bring the readers further into the world and make the user experience nicer. The black screen does have a feeling of reading in a void. And I turned off the music half way through. I thought that the progression of the game, as it is, already does the same things as a point n click game such as being able to hover over words/objects to get more detail. Just needs more development and encouragement to keep going.

Silent Earth is a delightful and short text-based trip. The setting and overall tone felt novel to me, even in the generally overcrowded sci-fi space genre. The narrative is well-written in conveying each character’s motivations and connections with little reading necessary, while still allowing the characters to feel compelling in each interaction. In my first run, going at a slow pace to explore everywhere I could, it took me about 45 minutes to reach its conclusion. This game successfully left me thinking about it well after I had beaten it. Highly recommend.

Choices That Matter: And The Sun Went Out

Incredible, a definite must play if you enjoy CYOA books and games. While not literally every choice you make is going to change the course of the narrative, they hel immerse the player into the main character’s role, this paired with the intresting story and characters, and the intriguing mysteries make for an amazing experience if you like this kind of game

I’m just starting arc 5 i think and wow has it been a cool ride so far. i googled it and apparently on any given play through you only read 150,000 of a total 600,000 words which leads me to believe that these choices that seem like they really change whats going on, really do. Which also inspires anxiety but hey that’s all in the fun of making serious choices. so far solid 8/10 8.5 because canada eh

So i see most reviews are from people with 2 hours so i will be the first actual player to write a real review, let me start by saying the game is free, you can choose to play for absolutely nothing, now that being said, just like any other game released on steam, you can pay for more, are there expensive single cards in the shop? yes. do you need to buy them? no. should you buy them? no.

This is a strategy game, if you aren’t good at strategy you will lose a lot, the strategy lacks a lot of depth but it is there, and you can really notice the difference once you figure out a play style and learn to counter different things. it is the general nature of a card game to know that one specific card will not beat another, if you cannot learn this you will not find success in this game.

Hmm were to start ?

First at all it not really PTW it has elements like the most games in steam , you can reach even all cards ( right now common , uncomman , rare , epic , legandary ) in only playing the story line , with all i mean even the legendary and you have to pay nothing for … its right that there are cards with 15 $ or 30 $ , but do you have to buy them - no … so before act like a cry baby ( as a read the most negativ reviews with not really a background ) , try to get some knowledge over the game , before speak up again , to pay for a game and think you would be NO.1 will never work without knowledge , … so in all - its a nice game not perfect , its new , the art style is awsome you can collect card pieces (copie from your card) to make your card stronger and the animation changes too , there permanent new events - the are allways free , give it a try ; )

Dear Agony Aunt

A cute, quirky little game about answering agony aunt emails. Very simple but a nice experience. The only feedback I have is that it would be nice to be able to resize the email windows since there’s a lot of empty space on the screen

Lies Under Ice

Lies Under Ice

The future of humanity in space is under your control as you manage a moon base in the shadow of Jupiter. Will you play the political mastermind or rise above the fighting factions?

Lies Under Ice is an interactive science-fiction thriller by Joey Jones where you take on the role of the protagonist.

Build a scientific outpost on Europa, exploring the moon and the alien life that lurks in the vast ocean under the icy crust. Build a sprawling tunnel complex in the ice or bring about climate change to terraform Europa into an ocean world. Share your alien findings, or capitalise on the research for profit. Be a paragon of the human race or transcend the human form entirely.

Play as a female, male or non-binary president, captain, or commander: it’s your base… until re-election!

  • Play as one of six unique character professions: diplomat, aerospace engineer, asteroid miner, pilot or marine biologist.

  • Come from one of three distinct geopolitical backgrounds, each with their own separate intrigues: the ever-shrinking United Earth, the old-world Group of 81, or the fractious Libertalian Alliance.

  • Decide what animals to bring to space: experience a catsplosion of kitties, or be over-run by escaped lobsters? It’s your call.

  • Develop the base your way: prioritise the comfort of the workers, or try to maximise the scientific output; build luxury domes, mazes of ice tunnels or try your hand at terraforming.

  • Involve yourself in romantic entanglements with your co-workers, or strike it alone.

  • Develop your out-of-work hobbies. After all, you never know when astronomy, cooking, poetry, lucid dreaming and more, will come in handy.

  • Make friends and enemies among the different political, scientific and corporate factions: you can’t please everyone all the time, who will you favor?

Star Story: The Horizon Escape

Star Story: The Horizon Escape

It’s killing me but I can’t give thumb up for this one, it is a good game but also buggy one.

First when I started this game I’ve got window with information “ops game crushed..” but funny thing is that you can just click on game window and continue playing it without problem, but this was the fist red light.

I was playing it for couple hours and it was fun but after couple resets of the story some relative parts gets more and more tedious, game sometimes even throw at you two exactly the same random encounter one after another but what really break game for me was… game breaking bug :) After another reset you start on the desert and after a while your character take out sand from his boot and teleport to base, problem is that after go out from the base I ended up just before checking bot for sand and automatically teleporting to base and no matter what I tried I was stuck in that loop only way out of this situation would be to start game once more and hope that I will not stuck somewhere again and I’m not looking forward to check my luck again.

Reminds me a lot of Stories: The Path of Destinies. Like on that game, you are trapped in a kind of Groundhog Day style time loop, where each time you die you come back to the start of the game, but with your items and some new knowledge from your previous life. The game has 24 endings, and in each one of them you die in the end. The goal of these endings is to find information. Once you find out all you need, then you can go back and do it properly, in a 25th, golden, ending.

The major difference between the games is on the gameplay. Whereas S:TPoD is a beat-em-up, this game is a Choose Your Own Adventure text based adventure, with some turn based combat thrown in. The gameplay basically consists of the game providing you some options, then you choose one and suffer the consequences. Some choices affect the story, and these are clearly marked, but most only result in you gaining resources and/or getting in a fight. The resources are used to craft weapons, ammo and consumables, which are used in order to not die in the fights. So, in essence, this is a resource management game. It is pretty casual, but also nice.

古代人生 Ancient Life

古代人生 Ancient Life

This is a charming ancient life sim game.

While the controls and concept can be a bit difficult to master, once you get the hang of the game this is an absolute delight. For those that like dynasty games like cursader kings-why on earth is this not a cateogry of games on steam?-will be happy to know this game follows that concept of a dynasty rpg with an even closer lence than in crusader kings. There are many life paths for characters to experience and many mini-games to play to advance along these life paths. The majority are a lot of fun and give a nice taste of the ancient life.

it is fun to play but I don’t recommend

too difficult to earn income

1). sell crickets: this is best way to earn income so far

2). crickets tournament:

only won provincial match once

… even your opponent’s bugs were weaker than yours but you still lost the game - make no sense to me

3). Special products: once your honor value reach each threshold (100, 200, 300), you will unlock different special product (max 3 kinds per city) … and here is a bug.

you can buy the highest rank special product, but you won’t have earn any income once you sell it ..

Cartomante – Fortune Teller

Cartomante – Fortune Teller

A short but fun game set in a fantasy/modern setting where you play a witch who earns her living telling peoples fortunes.

The game has a beautiful art style and does a great job at world building. It has interactive dialog that succeeds at being mysterious, intriguing and often times funny. The game is short but very replayable with various different readings you can get for each person that results in different and often unique outcomes, you can play the same day over and over with different results each time.

Real player with 5.9 hrs in game

This is a really good game. Short, but incredibly charming, an absolute steal for the price.

The dialogue is extremely well written, and it manages to be funny and thought provoking. If you’re like me, you’ll keep replaying it (and reliving the same day a la “Groundhog Day”) until you get the best (or worst) possible ending for all your clients.

Definitely do not sleep on this one!
