I can’t believe it’s been almost 11 years since this game’s been released. I love this game from the bottom of my heart. I always had interest in story driven games, the moment I saw this game’s trailer I knew it was meant for me. It’s one of those games that defined my personality through my teenage years. How can you not love a game like this. It’s the game that took motion capture to the next level back in those days. Tragic drama thriller movie like game where your choices do actually MATTER. Main characters can die or get injured during their encounters. Every choice you make feels like it will have an impact on your experience. It offers a lot of content and replayability. The action scenes are very intense and gets you locked onto the screen. You can listen to your character’s thoughts that gives you more insight and adds depth about the situation the person’s going through. Which I have missed a lot of them when I was playing 10 years ago even though I’ve played this game more than like 500 hours now I’m discovering new things. To me, Quantic Dream games are really good in terms of creating and establishing scenes as well as writing story with characters and multiple different possibilities. And not to mention the unforgettable magnificent score. It sends shivers down my spine when I hear that Ethan Mars' Theme. Lastly, I believe Quantic Dream company really cares about the content that they’re making at least as I’ve seen from the behind the scenes and artworks.

-How many cliches do you want mr. Cage?

-Yes

I love narrative games so my opinion in this might be a little biased and I obviously recommend this game. It doesn’t come without flaws but we get so little of such games that i’m happy even if it’s not perfect.

Bummerโ€ฆ I was so hyped about this game! Playing the Demo was great. However, the actual game failed to launch properly on my pc (Windows 10). After about 2 hours spent trying to find any working solution, I’ve just requested for a refund.

UPDATE: The team of developers reacted fast to my report and fixed the problem just within a couple of days, offering the code as their apology. WHAT A FANTASTIC WORK! Great story-lines and multiple-choice dialogues done nicely, everything seems well-thought-out and made with care. Mainly, I like the idea that all protagonists can intersect each other, and also a โ€œchirpโ€ panel with funny โ€œchirpsโ€ aka โ€œtwitts highlighting the game’s milestones. Some rare non-translated parts from French do not bother me since I understand a little French, but it might be an issue for those who play the English version, though. Hope, the developers will fix this asap as well… In general, I totally recommend this game, especially to someone who likes decision-based stories framed into a social context. Well done!

This game is very sweet and well written. I feel every characterโ€™s struggles are made to feel realistic and, sometimes, too real. The pacing is smooth, although it takes multiple replays to really learn the best steps to take. Sometimes itโ€™s not very clear what youโ€™re supposed to do in order to trigger the next event, which takes me to the biggest flaw this game has. It needs to be replayed, over and over again in order to have certain events from other characters to trigger something in the story youโ€™re playing. I find that a tad boring and repetitive. Iโ€™ve also found a lot of moments when the dialog was suddenly in French. Itโ€™s not a big deal but it does break a bit of the immersion.

Lacuna: Prologue

Lacuna: Prologue

I can’t wait for this game to drop. I played the prologue through and was excited. the game play was varied, there are alot of interactivity between the character and the environment. I really like how you can move through the game as the character talks to himself, most games you have to either skip the monologue or not hear it to continue playing. I never thought I’d like a game with this type of graphics but I’ve been finding more and more games like this that I really like. I saved the date on my calendar for this game.

This is going to be a gem! The prologue mainly is a tutorial of the game mechanics but it doesn’t feel like one at all. It feels like you are experiencing a story and based on the previews of the full game, the choices you make have an impact!

Also, the world just fits my taste perfectly! This is some modern scy-fi stuff mixed with noir elements, considering you play a detective anyways. Filled with so many details, you can’t help but feel like you were in another world for an hour :)

I also love that the game challenges you to use your brain and not just follow the instructions.

I personally really enjoyed this game. I first played it from before it’s Steam release (thanks to GrayStillPlays) so I somewhat knew what to do. The Steam release added a few features that I was glad to see like achievements and scene skips.

I love games like this one. Simple, but deep. Deep, but also doesn’t take itself too seriously. It makes you think about things but never shoves it in your face. I quite enjoyed all the references too. Some of the endings were a bit out there, but that’s part of the fun.

โ€“ Real player with 17.6 hrs in game

There are certain cruelties this game that presents you with that prevent me from classifying it as fun.

Within the game there are advertisements for the developers other games, and I had to reset the game (the intro sequence is waaay too long.) to escape them. The options for this game are super limited. I get there’s only so much you can do with a game like this. It just feels dull and monotonous. Playing through multiple times is not rewarding at all, and this game does NOT respect your time or intellect.

Hey Devs, great game. I found some of the levels challenging and a good use of logic. I did my first run in 14 hrs. and even enjoyed a second run to collect my missing collectible achievement. The jumping portions in some of the puzzles were quite easy once I figured out the timing sequence. A well thought out game and highly recommended. I’d like to see a sequel.

Awesome game. Addictive. Absolutely beautiful to look at. The puzzles are challenging and interesting. Its also pretty simple and straightforward but with a cool backstory. Would be fun to have a 2 player option, making the puzzles even more mind-bending. I really hope they make a sequel!

Summarized version below!

I consume way too many of these narrative-driven games for my own good, but Iโ€™m always on the lookout for one that tries to do something new, something cool - so I was excited to give Road 96 a look.

Note: Trimmed review to fit character limit, check video for full version!

Gameplay:

Road 96 is basically a more involved โ€œchoose your own adventureโ€-type game. There are decisions to make and these decisions end up affecting what path you go down and what ending you get. You donโ€™t just play as one protagonist, but multiple. There is a small cast of recurring characters you will meet along this journey and thatโ€™s where the meat of the game lies.

This is the model that all walking simulators should follow from now on.

It’s really good. Like most “choice” based games, no, there isn’t as much variety in actual gameplay as was originally suggested in the trailer. Many of the games roughly 200-300 conversations play out similarly in one playthrough to the next, but they may occur at different points in your journeys, and with different people. I would say that is better than most of these types of games allowโ€ฆthink Life is Strange, Firewatch etc, where you are on rails for pretty much the entire game and there are only changes in the flavor text as a result of your meticulously thought over actions.

Death Becomes You - Mystery Visual Novel

Death Becomes You - Mystery Visual Novel

I am currently aiming for a complete playthrough with all endings before I write an extended review for another outlet. It’s an intriguing tale that dances in that moral grey area, at least that’s where I’m at right now.

โ€“ Real player with 12.4 hrs in game

A very great game! It got me more and more hooked as I progressed through the story.

It’s a murder mystery that focus on the relationship of the characters and you can keep discovering their depths and how different they are. The routes have distinct vibes allowing me to get attached to each character’s personalities while also showing the different sides of Lyra, and how strong her presence is for better of for worse.

It deals with magic in a interesting way, in a dark tone that shows the multiple possibilities and the dangers of magic in thsi world.
