古代人生 Ancient Life

古代人生 Ancient Life

This is a charming ancient life sim game.

While the controls and concept can be a bit difficult to master, once you get the hang of the game this is an absolute delight. For those that like dynasty games like cursader kings-why on earth is this not a cateogry of games on steam?-will be happy to know this game follows that concept of a dynasty rpg with an even closer lence than in crusader kings. There are many life paths for characters to experience and many mini-games to play to advance along these life paths. The majority are a lot of fun and give a nice taste of the ancient life.

it is fun to play but I don’t recommend

too difficult to earn income

1). sell crickets: this is best way to earn income so far

2). crickets tournament:

only won provincial match once

… even your opponent’s bugs were weaker than yours but you still lost the game - make no sense to me

3). Special products: once your honor value reach each threshold (100, 200, 300), you will unlock different special product (max 3 kinds per city) … and here is a bug.

you can buy the highest rank special product, but you won’t have earn any income once you sell it ..

The game looks like a combination of Chinese chess pieces and a map made of very simple graphics. This does have an English translation but it is hard to understand and has many grammatical mistakes. Even when you can read Chinese this is hard to get into. The tutorial didnt help much. It simply gave me an idea of what the main menu points are but it wasnt enough to figure out what to do. There are many options of things to do in the game, mostly text based menus, but it was really hard to tell what your goal was. Should you attack the other cities? Or defend against the bandits? There was no clear indication to what you should do and there was no story either. I tried to attack some bandits but the fighting system was really hard to understand too. I could select some units and attack but I didnt really see who was who or what I was attacking. After clicking attack it just said Defeated. No graphics show anyone fighting. The chance is really high that you will be disappointed when you buy this.

Doesn’t work. Game runs, but tutorial stops after one screen, no way to continue. Every command on the command screen leads to the same exact set of options. NOT JUST A NON-FINISHED PRODUCT, IT’S A NON-STARTED PRODUCT.

Dark Renaissance

Dark Renaissance

From the Author of the best-selling Medici series Matteo Strukul, comes a new exciting Interactive History Drama, pushing the boundaries of video game storytelling and narrative depth.

Dark Renaissance is an adventure game with RPG elements and a compelling and dramatic story, true to historical events, characters and places of the 15th century.

Embark on a journey through key places of the Renaissance world, from Italy to China, going through the fascinating lands of the Middle East and Transylvania. Lend your sword to Lorenzo de' Medici and fight formidable enemies, such as the cunning Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II, the treacherous Anguana and the impetuous Duke Ercole d’Este.

In a land of immense Beauty and ageless mysticism, where families of ruthless powermongers wage battle through generations, the mother of all wars is bound to happen.

In the heart of Firenze, Italy’s cradle of culture and art, Lorenzo il Magnifico, heir to the Medici Family, sits on his throne of riches. After having conquered the economic power of Italy, the Lord of Florence senses a new threat coming, meant to jeopardize his ruler’s status quo. With its power and financial establishment at a stake, The Magnificent must recur to the most legendary soldier on the battlefield: Marco Badoer, a tormented Capitano di Ventura who survived the twilight of Middle Ages to be born again in an age of discovery and wonder.

  • The darkest and grittiest Renaissance epic ever built in a game.

Discover the story of Marco Badoer, one of the last knights of the famed Ordo Draconis, a chivalry order so bloodthirsty that counted Vlad the Impaler himself among its ranks.

  • Meet the rockstars of Italian Renaissance.

From Lorenzo de' Medici to Leonardo da Vinci, you will walk on the shoulder of giants and explore world-famous landmarks such as Venice and Florence. But be wary: ancient pagan magic, Eastern mysticism and occult knowledge will drag you into the darkest corners of human mind.

  • Countless options for roleplaying.

Shape your path through nuanced branches in an intricate web of political conspiracies and moral dilemmas. Will you unleash your vengeful primal self? Or you’ll rather stay balanced as a monk through wise decisions? The choice is yours.

  • The art of War.

Choose among several weapons of the time, face your enemies in strategic duels and lead your troops in open field battles. Get ready to become a strategist, thanks to unique staged combat sequences blending opera and brutal RPG action.

  • Sex, drugs and gambling.

From the opium-filled hammam of Constantinople, to the alcova of the most beautiful courtesans in Florence, the darker side of European history will unveil in front of your eyes, while a romance and social linking system will let you decide to desecrate your body as much as you wish.

  • Enjoy high-class Renaissance living.

Behold the beauty of Italy in all of its splendor during the Main Quest, and kick back with a glass of wine at Villa del Drago, home to Marco Badoer. To transform this old house in a luxurious mansion, filled with fine Tuscany spirits and tasty food, it’s up to you, thanks to the currency and historical accurate card games.

  • A political manifesto from the past.

After condemning the horrors of totalitarianism and datacracy in the award-winning Dry Drowning, Studio V goes back to its roots, to push again the boundaries of philosophical and political discourse in gaming. Swept under the rug of a beautiful world, tales of corruption, violence and dirty money await for the player to be discovered.

  • Original soundtrack.

An original symphonic score by the award-winning composer David Logan, mixing and matching ancient and modern styles.

Really great game, I am having lots of fun with it, would highly recommend!

The game is absolutely terrible. The controls are sluggish and you will get your tail feathers handed to you about 99% of the time. There is no time to even try to aim your lance. Shield or Head I can’t see to aim for them. You just put your lance over the line and pray you either break your lance or do some serious damage to your opponent. The balance mini-game is an absolute joke. It is totally unresponsive. I hit right as soon as the dot appears, and it shoots straight to the left and throws me. The Rock Paper Scissors mechanic of Barding, Shield, Lance, and Armor need to be explained better than “Oh, just play around with it.” All these elements make for a frustrating and unpleasant experience. I do not mind a challenge. I do mind a skill-based game leaving it up to lady luck to make the final judgement. This game has so much potential but in its current state I do not recommend it.

Elisa: the Innkeeper

Elisa: the Innkeeper

This has been a bag of mixed feelings. I appreciate the art and music. CGs are plentiful enough & no critical moment looks ignored. But the characters, the effing characters man, nearly everyone is a stiff stereotype too absorbed in their own way to ever break out of their molds. Moreover, the ‘good endings’ aren’t satisfying at all. Just one last decision at the end completely flips these characters who rigth up until then will have been acting like their way is unconditionally the right way, just to bring about that ‘good’ conclusion. I don’t know, maybe this is how the devs intended the plot and characters to be, but it soured my overalll experience somewhat :(

Real player with 6.9 hrs in game

As far as Visual Novels go, this one has to be the most feature packed. The replayability is boosted by the ability to control the behaviors of not just the “main character” but all the supporting characters as well. Making one character a pervert, and making that same character smart and good natured in another playthrough.

There is one thing that bothers me though, and that is the Knight.

Possible Spoiler Warning

! The Prince is short tempered and stubborn, and the Merchant is level-headed but flaunts his wealth. Supposedly, the Knight was meant to be something in between these two extremes. Elisa even comments that the fact that he refuses to flirt with her makes her wants to try even harder… then within the next 10 minutes of game, he is already falling over himself to keep her around. He knows nothing about her, and she knows nothing about him. There was no character development, and yet he has become a totally different person just in the time it took her to change his bed sheets.

Ms.Director

Ms.Director

Ms. Director is a game I can’t give justice to in just words. Either by my terrible writing skills or by repeating what others have said. Yet I can say that Ms. Director is one of the best RPGmaker-style games I have played in a very long time. It succeeds with the good ol’ cliche 2D horror game formula, but feels like a refreshing new experience in the RPGmaker-style genre. Either by well-written characters, fantastic links to LGBTQ+ Hollywood history, or fantastic music.

My final words about this game being a wonderful and beautiful small indie game that has been clearly made with passion and creativity. True love, research and time went into making this and it shines with it. It’s got the typical growing pains and teething problems of being a first major RPGmaker project, but those will eventually go away when the developer learns more and grows from mistakes. Ms. Director is a game I can’t recommend enough. Just writing this review isn’t even doing it justice.

I found this game through a friend on twitter, and saw that it was an indie horror title. I went and played it, not knowing what to expect, and fell in love with the characters, art style, puns, and presentation. It’s a really solid title, with a lot of thought put into it. It is a bit short, and there are a few text errors, but it’s pretty easy to miss when you are focused on all the weird stuff happening in the mansion. I’m looking forward to seeing what sketchy nonsense puts out next.
